I recently bought your Acid Loving dry fertilizer. I’m considering transplanting my blueberry plants to a bigger pot. Thank you for making an environmentally friendly product.

My cannabis plants are initiating the flowering phase and I am going to initiate use of Flower Girl. I would like to simply dilute it in water and water the plants regularly. What is the ratio of FG to water & how often should I water with the diluted mixture?

Mike S. – California

I would use Flower Girl in the soil then I would make our fertilizer tea (recipe is on the back of bag) You can apply weekly or if you dilute the tea with water you can use every time you water. You might want to consider using our liquid Flower Girl, Using both dry and liquid will really help in production of oils & terpenes.

John Letter

Dear Milo.

Very nice hearing from you, and particularly being that you are the author of that book and the CEO of Dr. Earth! Your products are great, and an excellent name for a company as well ! :-). My Father grew up on a farm in Iowa, and he use to say… “be good to Nature, and Nature will be good to you”. Wise words indeed, which influenced me greatly.

I have long been an advocate of organic farming and eating only organic foods, and minimizing ones carbon footprint. I drive an EV for example. I started eating organic maybe thirty years ago when organic foods were called “health” foods :-). It works for me as I am quite healthy. In fact, I have not even taken an aspirin in more than 25 years!

That’s cool that your brother is an Architect. I am one of the fortunate ones that found a profession that I thoroughly enjoy and can being super creative. I also design furniture, products, and create art. My Father was a carpenter, so I inherited my love of building with wood from him.

Fertilizing my plants with your products will now have special meaning to me. Be safe and happy gardening.

John

Warren H. – North Carolina

After using your products for years and recommending to friends, Please answer this question of how the guano is harvested. I just want to know if I choose to use this product, am I contributing to the endangerment of bats and the critters associated with their environment? I’m sure the care you and your products exude must be sensitive to this concern. Love you guys and thank you for the success I’ve always had using Dr. Earth!

Warren H. – North Carolina

Just an FYI: During the pandemic, we stopped selling it as chicken manure is being pushed around and questioned like steer manure so we took the safe alternative and stayed away from all manures, and took it down from our website. However, under normal harvesting conditions, we believe we have one of the best bat guanos available today. Our family owns a 20-acre ranch in Arizona near the four corners area and made some very nice Indian friends (apache tribe) who are great farmers. They built these elaborate bat caves made of plywood, and a metal screen on the bottom but its a nice contraption, I buy once a year from them when I take my family there, and she usually has a tote for me. Her guano is top-notch! She is an organic gardener and does not use bug sprays on her 6000-acre farm. She also raises a variety of fruits that make great insect food, which makes great and clean guano.

Robert R. – New Jersey

I need a fertilizer to use in a wooded area for shrubs and perennials. Something that will enrich a taxed soil.

Dean P. – Washington

Is there any difference between Dr. Earth’s Pure Gold liquid fertilizer and Dr. Earth’s Pot of Gold liquid fertilizer? We’ve also seen Pure Gold in both gold-colored containers and white-colored containers. What’s the difference, and why the different packaging? We’re downright thrilled with the Pure Gold, and wonder if they’re the same or different.

Dean P. – Washington

There is no difference in Pure Gold Liquid and Pot of Gold liquid. Pot of Gold is for the commercial grower and available is larger sizes. Pure Gold also went through a package change from a gold plastic and black label to white bottle with new color label. Still the same great formula!

Raleigh M. – California

When applying diluted mix of fertilizer to a mature rose plant, how much should each rose plant receive? All roses are different but there should be some guidelines about liquid quantity per rose and frequency.

Raleigh M. – California

For your rose bush use 1-2 gallons per Rose bush. Depending on temperatures apply every 2 weeks. You can also switch to our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster Dry fertilizer for healthy summertime blooming. Apply once a month.

We have had a lot of rain for 3 days. I am in Fairbanks, Alaska. I prepared my beds with Dr Earth Vegetable Fertilizer on May 24th. I feel with all the rain the nutrients are being washed away. Tom C. – California

Our products do not contain “Comfrey bocking 14” but I have heard some good things about how beneficial its uses are. Diversity is a good thing. If you can incorporate it to your gardening, do it! You might be interested in our Metabolic Transformer. This will super charge your soil.

Kelley C. – California

Beverly P. – California

Currently, temperatures are lingering just over 100 degrees F for the next week and I just planted some Japanese Anenomes. I keep them hydrated in the heat, watering deeply one to two times a week as needed and spritzed to maintain moisture. I used the bud and bloom for jumpstarting roses that were doing poorly. Is it too hot now to add the bud and bloom again (the package says every 6-8 weeks) for the anenomes.

Beverly P. – California

Summertime is one of the best times to be applying Flower Girl Bud & Bloom booster! Try making our fertilizer tea recipe when it is real hot and your plants will enjoy. It’s a great stress reliever from the heat. The recipe is on the back of the bag.

Led

Are your premixed dry fertilizers ph perfect? I made a tea with a bloom fertilizer pink bag and the ph tested perfect.

Led

Our premix dry fertilizers are not “ph perfect” but with our Trubiotic (microbes) they balance out.

Barb J. – North Carolina

I fertilized my tomatoes, green beans, and squash with Dr. Earth Home Grown Tomato and Herb fertilizer 2 weeks ago. We have been having heavy rains for the past 2 weeks. Since squash have such a short growing season, I wanted to ask how long I should wait to start doing compost teas/foliar sprays to continue to supply much needed nutrients as the summer season arises, temperatures rise, and it doesn’t rain as frequently? Also, in plants such as tomatoes and beans, how long should I wait to begin using a bloom fertilizer?

Barb J. – North Carolina

You can start right away doing compost teas & foliar sprays. No worries. You can start using Bud & Bloom Booster fertilizer now and through summer and can make our fertilizer tea with it as well! If you get a chance you should try our Liquids fertilizers in conjunction with our dry for the ultimate gardening experience!

Joanne S. – California

I have Dr. Earth Organic 5 tomato, vegetable and herb fertilizer from years past and the top says 5-7-3. What do those numbers stand for? Also, I have one beefsteak tomatoe plant in a pot on my balcony and some of the leaves are turning yellow. Does that mean it needs nitrogen? Also how much do I use for one plant?

Joanne S. – California

The numbers stand for NPK (N) Nitrogen (P)Phosphorus (K)Potassium in that order. As far as your tomato plant the yellowing, it could be over watering. Play around with your watering habits to see if it stops. If it still yellow after adjusting water habits then, yes, it could be a lack of iron. Our tomato, vegetable & herb fertilizer will give your plant a balance diet and should correct that. I suggest getting a hold of a newer batch of our Fertilizer, Organic 5 / 5-7-3 is very old and I suggest our most current version Home Grown Tomato, Vegetable & Herb Fertilizer.

Ryan L. – California

I bought your tomato organic fertilizer, to realize there is a P65 Warning label on it. Why is this the case?

Ryan L. – California

Everything we make a Dr. Earth is 100% organic. Prop 65 is listed on all of our products. The reason we do this is because all organic ingredients contain traces of lead and other metals that are listed under Prop 65. We put this marking on our products to be transparent, even though the level of lead in our products is far lower than the requirements by Prop 65. All our fertilizers and soils are safe.

Adele S. – California

I have 40 different kinds of fruit trees. I call this my “fruit-chard”. There are many weeds under these dwarf trees. I want to control the weeds located around the base of the trees. Which product would you recommend to get rid if the weeds without damaging the trees.

Gustavo J. – California

The rest of the yard is a mix of weeds and moss with many dry patches. Can you recommend a fertilizer to encourage grass growth that I can attach to my sprinkler on watering days twice a week?

Robyn R. – Texas

If your sprinkler has the capability to work with liquid fertilizer, then our Super Natural Lawn food is the right choice for you. We also have a dry fertilizer that you can broadcast. Then when you water it breaks down, its called Nitrogen All Purpose Fertilizer. You can also use both together for that ultimate greening and growing result!

Terry K. – Illinois

Terry K. – Illinois

Our liquids fertilizers will stay good for over 5 years or longer if stored in cool place. You can dilute 2oz per gallon of water.

Laura D. – New York

Could you tell me what the difference in benefits between Total Advantage Rose & Flower Fertilizer and Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster? I can see that the ingredient list is different but I am not sure how these differences will affect my flowering plants. I am looking to fertilize hydrangeas, roses, peonies and other assorted perennials. In particular, my hydrangeas are showing yellow leaves this year (could be from over-watering) but I am concerned that the soil they are in does not have enough nutrients.

Laura D. – New York

Flower Girl has more Phosphorus which helps promote roots & blooms great for summertime blooms! As for your hydrangeas, they prefer acidic soil, so we recommend our Acid Lovers Fertilizer and Planting Mix. Reduce watering to see if the yellowing stops.

I watch Deep South Homestead YouTube channel and Danny has the biggest, most productive tomatoes I have ever seen. He says he feeds them every two weeks with Dr. Earth’s Liquid phosphorus and calcium nitrate. I have looked online and in our stores that carry your products and cannot find anything called liquid phosphorus.  Do you have a product like that?

Kayla H.

The product that we have that is somewhat close to the items you are referring to is our Golden Bloom liquid fertilizer. We do not offer a calcium nitrate, but Our Home Grown Tomato, Vegetable & Herb dry fertilizer has plenty of calcium for healthy tomatoes!

Matthew S. – California

Matthew S. – California

We recommend our Home Grown Dry fertilizer during vegetation then Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster for the flowering stage of the plant. Also, using our liquids Nitro Big & Golden Bloom in conjunction with our dry fertilizer will help achieve great oil & terpene production and large yields.

Julie G. – Massachusetts

Do you have a product that kills thrips in roses? If not, what do you suggest? I am told neem oil and soap solutions do not work.

Julie G. – Massachusetts

Our Final Stop Rose & Flower or Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killers will help to control your thrips in your roses. They are 100% Organic essential oils.

Ginger H. – Tennessee

I just bought your Home Grown Vegetable Fertilizer. The instructions say “Use….” but what does that mean? How do I “use” it? Do I just sprinkle it on the plants, or do I mix it with water? Or try to mix in with the soil at the roots?

Ginger H. – Tennessee

Welcome to the gardening club! Yes, just sprinkle around the base of your plants, scratch into soil, water in and that is it. If it is difficult to work into the soil, you can sprinkle around the base of the plants and cover with compost, planting mix or potting soil.

Miguel C. – California

Can I have a question about your compost? Is it all plant based? Are there any animal product in this compost like bones, egg shell, manure, etc?

Miguel C. – California

Our Natural Choice Compost does not contain bones, egg shells or manures. It is not all plant base. It does contain fishbone meal, fish meal. Everything we use is 100% organic and of the highest quality.

MJ Z. – Oregon

Can you mix insect killer and fungicide concentrates together to do a combo treatment for both problems? If not, do I do insect killer and fungicide sequentially, one after the other? Same day or not?

MJ Z. – Oregon

We recommend applying at separate times and spray for what ever is the bigger issue (Insects or Mold, fungus, disease). Spray the first one day then spray with other the next day until you control the problem. If you are just spraying for preventative then just spray the insect control.

Kiana V. – Maryland

I purchased your Home Grown Tomato, Vegetable & Herb fertilizer powder for my newly transplanted vegetable plants, but I saw a video where it was suggested to feed the plants a little bit at time during every watering with the liquid fertilizer. If I apply the powder, do I still add a pump of the liquid when I water?

Kiana V. – Maryland

You do not have to use a pump of liquid every time you water, but using both our dry & liquid fertilizers in conjunction with each other will result in abundant of growth and yield in  your veggie garden.

John S. – Pennsylvania

Can you tell me how long to wait after applying Dr. Earths Fungicide to my vegetable garden before watering? Or should I just water around the base of the plants for a week or two to avoid washing the fungicide off of the plant leaves?

John S. – Pennsylvania

I suggest to water the base of the plant/soil. That is a good practice to do regardless of it being sprayed. Sometimes water on the plants can cause fungus especially if they stay wet into the night. If you are wetting the plants, do it in the morning so they have all day to dry. We suggest to spray with Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide in the early AM, make sure you shake well before and during use.

Christine L. – Colorado

Could you tell me the ratio to mix the concentrate for a one gallon sprayer?

Christine L. – Colorado

The ratio is 2oz per gallon of water. Make sure to shake well before and during use for maximum control.

Freda P. – Florida

If my plants are already established, how do I mix it with soil? Also, if I make the tea, how long does that last? If it sits for more than 24 hrs, is it still OK?

Freda P. – Florida

You can scratch it into soil or sprinkle around then add more soil/planting mix/compost on top of it then water it in. As for the fertilizer tea, we recommend you use it after 24 hours. A few hours after will not be an issue but use immediately.

John U. – Wisconsin

What is the dilution rate on the Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer Concentrate? I bought the 24 oz ready to spray with a garden hose, but I want to use a pump sprayer.

John U. – Wisconsin

The dilution rate is 2oz per gallon of water for Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer.

Brad S. – Rhode Island

I’m pretty new to gardening. I added some of your Tomato Vegetable & Herb fertilizer to my tomatoes, ground cherry, & elder plants, then a friend gave me some compost. Will it be safe to add the compost after applying the fertilizer or will it damage my plants?

Brad S. – Rhode Island

Welcome to the gardening club! Yes, you can add compost after applying our fertilizer, just make sure that compost is done. That is a great way to add more organic matter to your soil and will help with water retention.

Chad N. – Michigan

We are doing some lawn repair and it needs help with a fungus issue. We also have patched that need grass seed. Do we need to worry about the order of using the final stop fungicide and laying new grass seed?

Chad N. – Michigan

We suggest that you treat your lawn with the fungus issue first and make sure it is under control/gone before introducing new grass.

D. B. – Michigan

How often do you apply for container plants?

D. B. – Michigan

For containers we suggest apply Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster Dry Fertilizer once a month in the growing season.

Tyler O. – Georgia

I purchased the all purpose pump & grow fertilizer for indoor and outdoor potted plants. I want to use a few pumps in a spray bottle for foliar feeding. Is this product suitable for this type of application? If so, what ratio of fertilizer to water would you recommend?

Tyler O. – Georgia

Yes, you can foliar feed with it. I suggest that you do it outdoors (foliar spray) then bring in your house plants after they dry. Mix 1oz per gallon of water.

Annette Y. – Wyoming

My tomatillo and cucumber plants are turning yellow. My peppers look dull and lifeless. I have a very well-drained new topsoil raised bed garden. I can’t tell if I’m watering too much or too little. I water about every 3 days for about 15 minutes with a sprinkler. Any other suggestions?

Annette Y. – Wyoming

Sounds like a water issue. One good investment that you should have is a moisture meter. That way you can address any water issues and make sure those veggies are well fertilized! We recommend our Home Grown Tomato, Vegetable & Herb Dry fertilizer and if you really want to take your gardening experience to the next level try our Liquid Home Grown fertilizer in conjunction with the dry for more nutrient dense and abundant growth and harvest! Scratch our dry into the soil then water it in with our liquid. The liquid will kick in faster and the dry will continuously feed. Apply the dry every other month and apply the liquid every two weeks.

Eric S. – New York

Is vegetable garden insect killer concentrate effective against cucumber beetles? If not, what product would you recommend? I want to stay organic, but having an actual harvest is the most important outcome.

Eric S. – New York

Final Stop Vegetable Garden Insect Killer will kill cucumber beetles and their eggs. It is a contact kill so make sure you spray them and not just only the plants. Shake well before and during use for maximum control.

Michael M. – Georgia

Can I use your supernatural lawn food liquid spray on shrubs (such as rhododendrons and azaleas) and perennial plants (such as ferns, hosta, flowers, etc.). If so, is general foliage spray feeding ok or should I aim spray at root zone only and wash off overspray?

Michael M. – Georgia

You can use our Super Natural Lawn food liquid on shrubs, but we recommend our Acid Lovers or Flower Girl as they have phosphorus that promote blooming and rooting. The lawn food has zero phosphorus. And foliar feeding is fine. Do not worry about over spray.

Oscar M. – Texas

We I have a Saint Augustine lawn and I believe Greenleaf spot fungus is taking over and killing my grass. I saw your product at Home Depot which said it could be used on turf and was wondering if I could use the hose end spray product for this problem?

Oscar M. – Texas

Yes, our Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide RTS hose end will work for your lawn.

William D. – New York

We are looking for a vegan (no animal products like bone, blood, fish, etc.) liquid fertilizer to use on indoor tomato plants. Would the Pump & Grow Home Grown Vegetable Fertilizer be the right choice for us? Is it vegan?

William D. – New York

Unfortunately, we do not have a complete vegan fertilizer mix only our soil “Free”. Our Home Grown Pump & Grow are made of 100% Organic whole food. However, we do have our Alfalfa meal NPK 1-2-1 that you can use as a fertlizer that is vegan no animal byproducts.

Sydney D. – California

I’m using the pot of gold soil and I potted my tomato plants a few weeks ago. Mushrooms are starting to pop up. What is causing this to happen? Are my tomato’s still edible if they grow in a soli that sprouts mushrooms?

Sydney D. – California

No worries! That is actually quite normal and your tomatoes are still edible. We make living soils and we actually put beneficial microbes and mycorrhizae in our soils, which is a fungi.

Monica S. – Kansas

Is the FinalStop Disease control Fungicide toxic to beneficial nematodes?

Monica S. – Kansas

Our Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide is only toxic to nematodes if it’s used as a soil drench, but not if applied to the plants.

Margaret W. – South Carolina

I am not sure how to apply the fertilizer. I have the organic premium tomato, vegetable and herb fertilizer. The garden area is small. How are you to work it into the soil when the plants are already growing? The cucumber plants are growing but look pale and some yellowing of leaves at the bottom of the plants. I am new to this.

Margaret W. – South Carolina

And welcome to the gardening club! Since you are new to this. I want you to rest assure that you will not burn your plants with our Home Grown dry fertilizer, so that being said, use the appropriate amount of fertilizer then just simply scratch into the soil around the base of the plant. Do not worry if the fertilizer touches the plants. You can just rinse off when you are watering it in.

Don C. – North Carolina

Can I use yard stop insect control on my lawn?

Don C. – North Carolina

Yes, you can use Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer on your lawn.

Jerri A. – California

I bought 2 bags of your wonderful cocoa mulch intending to use it as a pathway mulch. After I learned of the toxicity to dogs, I decided to not use on my pathways due to my sister needing me to dog sit this summer. (it smelled really good at the store and I am using it on my houseplants but have so much left over) I am in need of extra organic matter for a raised bed. Would there be adverse effects to use it in a raised bed. Can I use your cocoa mulch in this manner?

Jerri A. – California

You can most definitely use the cocoa mulch in a couple of ways with your raised beds. You can use to help fill the bed as a filler mixed with planting mix or you can mulch your bed with it if you have acidic loving plants in it, as cocoa shells are acidic.

Heather H. – California

Can What fertilizers should I use for Summer Chocolate Mimosa Tree Albizia julibrissin and Theobroma cacao?

Heather H. – California

We recommend our Natural Wonder Fruit Tree Fertilizer Dry formula. If you have the trees surrounded by grass you can also you our Life All Purpose pelletized fertilizer.

Michelle O.

Can I use Pure Gold All Purpose for my established cactus & succulents? About how much?

Michelle O.

Yes, you can use Pure Gold All Purpose Fertilizer on your established cactus & succulents. If it’s our liquid formula, dilution is 2oz per gallon of water and just water them like you normally would to apply and use every 2 weeks. If you are referring to Our Dry Pure Gold, it is 1 cup for every 20 square feet. Apply every other month.

Terry T. – Georgia

Do any of your products help to control squash vine borers?

Terry T. – Georgia

Our insect sprays will only kill the squash vine borers when they are babies as they eat through the vine, but not when they are inside the vine.

Tracy D. – California

Are your fertilizers toxic to dogs? If they were to ingest a small amount?

Tracy D. – California

Our fertilizers are 100% Organic. That being said, we recommend to use as directed and have your pets away while applying. Depending on how much they eat, they might get an upset stomach.

Lisa K. – California

My son has a severe peanut and nut allergy. Do you use any peanut or nut hulls in your potting soil?

Lisa K. – California

While we do not put any nut products in our blends, it is a challenge to guarantee that the facilities that fill our bags are complete nut free.

Melvin G. – Ohio

Does Dr. Earth Weed Killer kill poison ivy?

Melvin G. – Ohio

Yes, Final Stop Weed & Grass Killer will kill poison ivy. Shake well before and during use. You might need a few applications and it works better if its warm (70’s) and in full sun.

Selene P. – Texas

Can the Final Stop Insect Killer be used on grass, fences and cement?

Selene P. – Texas

Yes, Final Stop Insect Killers can be sprayed on grass, fences and cement. Before spraying on fence and cement, test spot a small area on your fence & cement as our insect controls are made of essential oils it could stain.

Joe E. – California

I bought a bag of the flower girl and used it for some perrenial flowers. I just bought little 4 inch pots so these are plants that are pretty small. The instructions on the bag don’t really seem to address little plants like this. I applied about a tablespoon of the powder around each plant and there was no damage. Can I use or should I use more or less? How often should I add more?

Joe E. – California

1-2 tablespoons is fine. You can apply monthly for those 4 inch pots. In the future you might want to consider our Flower Girl Pump & Grow Liquid Fertilizer.

Donna Z. – New York

Is Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer (Concentrate) safe on outside vegetable plants?

Donna Z. – New York

Yes, Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer is safe for vegetable plants outdoor. It is made of 100% Organic essential oils and can be used up to the day of harvest.

Chuck G. – California

I have purchased your Dr. earth Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer – that I intend to use on my tomatoes. I have small green caterpillars and the white flies cannot be far behind them. My problem – I bought the 32 hose ready concentrate – but want to use in my own pump sprayer. How much concentrate should I use per gallon of water?

Chuck G. – California

Dilute 2oz per gallon of water. Make sure to shake well before & during use for maximum results.

Paul E – Florida

I have lemon tree that has what appears to be white mites that are rather large. What spray would work to keep insects from attacking a lemon tree?

Paul E – Florida

We recommend our Final Stop Fruit Tree Insect Killer RTS. It’s 100% Organic essential oils will kill on contact and will help detour insects from making your lemon tree their home. Re-apply as needed to control the problem.

Matt

I had problems with the spotted wing fruit fly infesting my raspberries last season. My local nursery said this would be a safe product to use to help with this season. How often should I spray the raspberries?  So I start spraying shortly after fruit is appearing?  How long should I wait to harvest and consume berries if sprayed?

Matt

You can spray your raspberries right away and can use up to the day of harvest. Just rinse your fruit and that’s it! You can re-apply as many times until the problem is controlled.

Brigitte F. – Wyoming

I used the weed and grass killer on some ground cover and it worked beautifully. How long should I wait before planting and should I do any special preparations?

Brigitte F. – Wyoming

You can plant immediately in your bed after the ground cover is dead. You can add some planting mix or compost and fertilize, depending what you are planting.

Elizabeth M. – Virginia

Why do my zucchini gets blooms and the vegetable starts to grow. Then rots off and never matures?

Elizabeth M. – Virginia

Sounds like blossom end rot and that is usually the lack of calcium. I recommend our Home Grown Dry fertilizer it has plenty of calcium.

Bob E. – California

I want to buy the very best soil for raised garden beds. I am confused regarding three products you sell: (1) Vegetable garden mix; (2) Vegetable garden potting soil; (3) Raised bed potting mix. What are the DIFFERENCES between these three and which one do you consider BEST for raised garden beds?

Bob E. – California

The best soil for your raised bed is our Home Grown Vegetable Planting Mix 1.5cf bag. The difference between the Raised Bed Potting Soil and the Home Grown Vegetable Planting Mix is the amounts of amendments we add and ratios. That’s also the difference in price point. Being in Southern California you can find all the options we have at your local Armstrong Garden Centers. The Home Grown Potting soil is the same just in smaller bags. Some gardeners like to use the Raised Bed potting soil to fill the bed then top it off with the Home Grown Planting Mix about a foot deep. Many do this for cost reasons. If cost is not an issue you can fill all with Home Grown Planting Mix.

Gail V. – South Carolina

Can I add water to Home Grown Organic Premium Tomato Fertilizer to use on 2 potted tomatoes and add it in liquid form?

Gail V. – South Carolina

You can make our fertilizer tea. The recipe is on the back of the bag. You might want to consider our liquid formula as well.

Nancy P. – Alaska

I don’t see warnings on my bag of organic fertilizer. Does that mean it is not harmful if my dog sticks her nose into pots where I’ve used it?

Nancy P. – Alaska

Our fertilizer is 100% Organic. That being said, we recommend you to scratch into soil and water in before letting dog around garden or potted plants. If your dog is only sniffing she will be fine.

Kevin R. – Arizona

How soon after using Ready-to-Use Weed and Grass Herbicide can I plant vegetables?

Kevin R. – Arizona

You can plant immediately after the weeds are dead. It does not leave any harmful residue, soil will be safe for planting.

Donna W. – Georgia

I just bought some pump & grow concentrate at Lowes. I got home & was ready to mix some but noticed the expiration date on the bottom of the bottle is 3/12/19. Would this hurt my plants if I used it?

Donna W. – Georgia

The date on the bottom is our Born on Date. No worries the product is perfectly fine and it is not expired.

Robin L.

I just used Dr Earth yesterday 4-4-4 and was curious how long before I see results in my vegetable garden plants?  My plants are nutrient deficient in Nitrogen, so if not much change, when should I re-feed?

Robin L.

You should start seeing results with 20-30 days. That’s usually when the fertilizer starts to break down. If you are looking for faster Nitrogen (organic) try our Nitro Big liquid. It will convert sooner, within 2 weeks. You can re apply in 30 days of the Premium Gold All Purpose 4-4-4.

Tom H. – New Jersey

I have a bag of pot of gold potting soil that expired in 2016 does the nutrients and fertilizer values lose potency?

Tom H. – New Jersey

It will slightly. I recommend using our Premium Gold All Purpose dry fertilizer to recharge it. Use 6 cups for one 1.5cf bag of soil.

Ricky B. – North Carolina

Will the pure gold organic fertilizer burn your tomato plants?

Ricky B. – North Carolina

Pure Gold will not burn your tomato plants, we use no chemicals or manures.

Melissa C. – New Jersey

I recently purchased your compost starter. The directions on the bag do not give instructions for compost tumblers, only piles. Can you tell me how much compost starter I should be using?

Melissa C. – New Jersey

We suggest 1 cup for 10 gallons of compost.

Thomas M. – New Jersey

Is Final Stop hose end fungicide rainproof after being sprayed on?

Thomas M. – New Jersey

Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide is not rainproof. If you spray and it rains within hours of applying then re-apply. I would suggest regardless of rain to re-apply as many times till you have controlled the problem.

Pat – New Hampshire

We used your berry plant food this AM (we buried it and it rained a bit afterwards). We have 2 dogs and they both smelled it at the base of the plants and one of them began to dig a bit of it up and eat some of it (this was when we let them out to do their business). Is your fertilizer harmful to our dogs if they eat some of it?  Your product says it is people and pet safe. How can we better apply your product without the dogs seeking it out to eat it?

Pat – New Hampshire

Our products are 100% Organic and not made of chemical poison. They smell the fish. My own dog used to do the same thing then I had to train him not to dig. It’s  a bit of a challenge. If you have watered it in the soil your dogs should be fine.  At that point they are eating soil/dirt.

Marsha M. – Indiana

I bought your fruit tree planting mix, can I use it in my veggie garden to amend the soil?

Marsha M. – Indiana

Yes, you can use our Natural Wonder Fruit Tree Planting Mix in your veggie garden. We also recommend to fertilize as well with our Home Grown Dry fertilizer. It has plenty of calcium that is vital to a range of vegetables.

D. Y. – Washington

I see that both of your “Final Stop” and “Fungicide” have CA Prop 65 warnings. What chemicals are in your products needing the warning? Wish you did not add these chemicals. This is VERY scary and I am very concerned as I do not see such warnings on other Organic products.

D. Y. – Washington

No need to be scared or afraid. Everything we make at Dr.

Ron J. – California

I am using your tomato vegetable and herb fertilizer for the first time this year in my growing bags, raised beds and Earthboxes (earthbox.com). Everything loves your fertilizer, but my tomatoes in the earthboxes in the greenhouse love it a little bit too much! I have never seen such big leaves and thick stems and the greenery to tomato ratio is much higher than with previous fertilizers I have used. I use three cups of the fertilizer per earthbox. Any suggestions?

Ron J. – California

Sounds like your doing great! The 3 cups of fertilizer per Earthbox sounds right. Big leaves and stems are crucial to good nutrient dense tomatoes. Adding less will not stop more greenery. Sometimes its genetics and environment.

Allison M. – Oregon

I recently bought some of your cactus and succulent food that comes in liquid form. In the few days since I’ve used it, my cactus has developed what appears to be some sort of mold or growth on top of the soil. Have you heard of this happening before and is there anything that can be done to prevent it?

Allison M. – Oregon

No worries! That is normal. Our products help create a living soil, there is nothing you can do to prevent it. That’s mother nature at work, but if you do not like looking at it scratch it around into the soil.

David B. – Texas

The previous owner of this house did not tell me that an area in the yard with St. Augustine had Take Out Fungi. He cover it up by planting a tree and mulch. It is now back. Is there a way to stop and kill this Fungus?

David B. – Texas

Our Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide will kill your fungus.

Rick W. – Illinois

Do you sell the Yard and Garden Insect Killer concentrate on your website? I was unable to see a way to select it. I could select the concentrate on the fungicide page, but not the Insect Killer page.

Rick W. – Illinois

Yes, you will need to scroll down the insect controls page to the “concentrates & ready to spray” section. Then find the option for size and select 24oz concentrate.

Ellen

I’m writing to ask about fertilizing plants that already have fruit on them. I’d like to give them fertilizer, but I realize that some might get on the fruit by accident in the process. Is it safe to just wash the peas carefully before eating? Do I need to wait a certain number of days after applying the fertilizer before harvesting, washing, and eating the peas? Would liquid fertilizer or fertilizer tea be better than the dry fertilizer in terms of getting fertilizer on the fruit? And what about lettuce or herbs – a little fertilizer is likely to get on the leaves.

Ellen

All of our products are 100% Organic regardless of our liquid and or dry fertilizers. If they get on your veggies or fruit, no worries, they’re not toxic. Just wash like you would normally wash produce. There is not a time frame of how long to wait on eating your fruit or veggies. As long as they are ripe to the picking, just wash, harvest and eat!  Our dry or liquids are great choices and I recommend using both our Home Grown Dry and our Flower Girl Liquid. With this combo you will have a healthy high yielding garden!

Linda M. – California

I grow Coconut and Banana Trees inside my house, which of your Dr. Earth fertilizers do you reccommend that i use?

Linda M. – California

Use our Natural Wonder Fruit & Berry Liquid Fertilizer for your coconut and banana tree, easy to use with less odor.

George S. – New York

Can a batch of water mixed organic tomato fertilizer be used after sitting outdoors for three weeks?
Would the potency be lost?

George S. – New York

If it has been out in exposed for 3 weeks, I would not recommend you using the water. If you have it in a container closed that is fine.

Stephanie F. – California

How can I dilute the Final Stop fungicide Concentrate for use in a simple spray bottle. I purchased the concentrate with the hose adapter top since the hand spray bottle was not available. How can I dilute the concentrate so I can use it more easily in a hand spray bottle?

Stephanie F. – California

Dilute 2oz per gallon of water of Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide. Always make sure to shake well when mixing and during use for maximum results.

Richard H. – Wisconsin

Recently bought Insect Killer. The directions for application are not useful: “Coverage of insect is required for maximum kill”. Is this product applied to the plant or to the insect/s? How often can this product be applied? Are there any vegetable/fruit plants that this product cannot be applied to?

Richard H. – Wisconsin

You have to spray insects in order to kill them. Since Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killers are made of 100% Organic essential oils it can help detour insect after application. You can apply as much as you need to control the pest issue (daily if needed). We recommend spraying in early AM or Late evening.

Robin H. – California

I have two indeterminate tomato plants (heirloom), in a pot 20″ deep of soil, 2 ft diameter. The tomato plants are already 5 feet high and have lots of unripe fruit. I want to add fertilizer but the soil is solid roots, so I’m watering daily. How best do you recommend I fertilize?

Robin H. – California

Since you have unripe fruit already, I would recommend our liquid. If you get our concentrate, then dilute in watering can 2oz per gallon and water the tomatoes like you would normally water and repeat every two weeks for the growing season.

Noe P. – California

I am trying to switch over to organics on my next grow and have been very interested in Dr. Earth. I am planning on using your all purpose 444 and bud and bud and bloom 394. I would be growing auto flowering cannabis. Would your standard measurements work or would it be too strong? Can I use 2 fertilizers at once and would I have to compensate measurements?

Noe P. – California

Yes, you can use our standard measurements on auto flowering cannabis, but for faster breakdown I suggest our liquids so that the nutrient is more available to the plant. I would use our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster Dry and mix in soil then use our Golden Bloom all the way till your ready to flush. Then harvest.

Charles P. – California

My dog appears to have eaten out of my garden. The Organic Home Grown Tomato, Vegetable & Herb Fertilizer, is it toxic for my 9 lb dog?

Charles P. – California

Your dog should be fine. He/she might get an upset stomach if consumed a lot, but we do not use chemical poisons in our fertilizers are 100% Organic.

S. V. – California

Is Dr Earth Final Stop Yard & Garden Killer safe on produce? I accidentally sprayed my wife’s herbs and garden with it and now have poison concerns.

S. V. – California

No worries! Your wife’s produce is fine. Just rinse like you normally would and eat! We use 100% Organic essential oils, no poisons.

Debbie T. – Oregon

What is the best Ambient Air Temperature to spray Dr. Earth Final Stop Fungicide on my lawn? Also, does rain affect the efficacy?

Debbie T. – Oregon

Really any temperature between 50-90 degrees. If it rains after application has time to dry it will be fine, you can re-apply as many times you need to control the issue.

Thomas M. – Pennsylvania

How much and how often should I fertilize my meyer lemon and orange tree?

Thomas M. – Pennsylvania

You can use 2 cups per 5 gallons of soil and apply every other month during the growing season. Make sure you top dress your trees, especially in containers as over time soil gets rinsed out. Try our Natural Wonder Planting Mix or Natural Choice Compost in conjunction with our fertilizer to help maximize yields.

Keith W. – Oregon

Why is Dr. Earth “Life” no longer available in gardening, nursery and farm outlet stores in Oregon? Is it being discontinued? I prefer to support local small businesses, but if the only way to obtain Dr. Earth “Life” in Oregon is via the internet I guess I will have to accept it. Where in Oregon can I reliably find Dr. Earth “Life”? I grow Bonsai trees, and Dr. Earth “Life” is probably the best product I have found to establish the micro-biotic organisms necessary for root growth and tree health in newly repotted trees and to re-invigorate it in the spring after our wet winters. It would really be a shame to have to being trying to replace Dr. Earth “Life” as part of my growing program.

Keith W. – Oregon

Life 5-5-5 we no longer make that formula. It has been replaced with our new Life 4-6-5. You will like the new formula! Works great, is pelletized and contains our Trubiotics for that great root growth. You can search our store locator to find your local garden/nursery center or buy online.

Anita M. – Nevada

Can I use Dr Earth Final Stop on apple or peach trees that already have fruit on them?

Anita M. – Nevada

Yes, you can use Final Stop on your fruit trees when fruit is present. Just wash fruit like normal when you harvest. Dr Earth Final Stop Insect controls are made of 100% Organic essential oils and not chemical poisons. You can apply up to the day of harvest.

Kathleen D. – Oregon

What is the difference between your Pot of Gold liquid fertilizer and Pure Gold liquid fertilizer? A couple of years ago I bought Dr Earth liquid fertilizer at Costco. I got fabulous results in my flower garden. I’m not sure whether it was “Pot o’ Gold” or “Pure Gold” all purpose liquid fertilizer. Are you still selling Dr Earth liquid fertilizer through Costco?

Kathleen D. – Oregon

The difference between Pot of Gold and Pure Gold is that Pot of Gold is our commercial grower brand. We offer it up to 250 gallon size but it is the same formula 1-1-1 as of Pure Gold. Costco has already brought it in early this season, so if they do not have anymore they will not get some until next year. You can find it at your local garden center, use our store locator or buy it right here on our website.

Melissa H. – Florida

I am ready to use Dr. Earth Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer and I was wondering if I should keep my dogs inside for certain period of time after I use it?

Melissa H. – Florida

After spraying we recommend letting the applied areas to dry before letting your dogs out. Our Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer is made of 100% Organic essential oils and not made of chemical poisons.

Pamela F. – Idaho

Does Dr. Earth kill Spittlebugs (they’re a nymph of an aphid)?

Pamela F. – Idaho

Yes, our Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect killer RTS hose end sprayer will take care of your spittle bugs.

Nicholas S. – Kansas

Can I use the fruit and berry fertilizer on a vegetable garden?

Nicholas S. – Kansas

Yes, you can use Natural Wonder Fruit & Berry Fertilizer on your veggie garden, but we do suggest using our Home Grown as it caters to the needs of vegetable, tomatoes and herbs, contains more calcium that helps prevent blossom end rot on most veggies.

Thomas R. – South Carolina

Will your Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer harm honeybees and ladybugs?

Thomas R. – South Carolina

When used as directed, Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer is safe and won’t harm bees and ladybugs. We recommend using in early AM when they are not present.

Jim C. – South Carolina

I bought a bag of your tomato vegetable herb fertilizer. I didn’t see directions for fertilizing after plants are already planted, that is how much to use, how to apply, etc. Also, I now realize I messed up planting the tomatoes. I put two better boy indeteriminates in one 15 pot. Meant to repot them, but afraid I’ve waited too long. They are now 24 inches tall. Any suggestions?

Jim C. – South Carolina

For potted tomatoes use 1/4 cup for every 5 gallons of soil scratch into soil or top dress and cover with soil. Apply every other month of the growing season. As for your two tomato plants, that will be a challenge. I would just leave them that far into the growth, pulling them apart might shock them or cut one so you can maximize your yield and harvest.

Shelly D. – California

Is Dr. Earth Final Stop okay for leafy greens?

Shelly D. – California

Final Stop is perfectly safe to use on your leafy greens. Just wash like you normally would after harvest.

Richard A. – North Carolina

Will the container of the liquid fertilizer be empty when all the fertilizer is out or will it still be full with just water? How do you know when all the liquid fertilizer has been used up?

Richard A. – North Carolina

The container will be empty with no liquids.

Jenna B. – New York

I was wondering if your liquid rose fertilizer was suitable to use on roses that will be harvested for consumption.

Jenna B. – New York

Yes, all of our products are safe to use on edible plants, flowers, vegetables and fruits. Our liquid Rose & Flower fertilizer is made of 100% Organic whole food!

Katie

Please refer me to someone that can confirm that this product does not contain round up ready (glyphosate).  Is this the product I should use? And /or any other thoughts that you think may be helpful.

Katie

Our Final Stop Weed & Grass Killer is 100% organic and does NOT contain any glyphosate chemical. You can plant right after those weeds are dead, just make sure to shake well.

David B. – Idaho

I made a tea from your Life All-Purpose Organic Fertilizer, 5-5-5. What if I get the tea on the foliage? Is that ok or do I need to rinse it off? Also, it is unclear what I can do with the sludge from the tea after straining it. Can I use it to make another batch of tea? Can I apply it to soil/plants? Is it safe to compost?

David B. – Idaho

No problem if you get the tea on the leaves. You can actually do a foliar spray. I recommend you do that in the morning so you don’t get leaf burn. As far as the left over sludge you can work/ top dress soil with it. You can make more tea with it but it will not be as potent. Yes, you can compost it as well.

.

Sharon B. – Oregon

Can I use the fertilizer (cactus/succulant) out side in a garden? Only mentioned ‘containers’.

Sharon B. – Oregon

Yes, you can use our cactus/succulent fertilizer outside.

Holly R. – Pennsylvania

If I used cow manure and mushroom soil with Dr Earth would I hurt my garden by having to much fertilizer? I don’t want all plant and no fruit.

Holly R. – Pennsylvania

I would hold off on the cow manure. It’s not a great source of nutrients and could potentially burn your plants. I suggest our Home Grown or Natural Wonder fertilizers depending on what fruits you are growing. Topping it with a mushroom compost/soil is fine. We highly encourage not to use manures. Too many potential risks unless you know the source and trust them.

Larry N. – Ohio

I bought Dr.Earth fertilizer 2 yrs ago and the expiration date was 12-2019 is the dry fertilizer still good for this year use?

Larry N. – Ohio

Yes, it’s still good as long as you kept it dry.

Eric H. – Texas

What would the best fertilizer for seed potatoes be?

Eric H. – Texas

We recommend our Home Grown Dry or Liquid fertilizer your seed potatoes will thrive!

Jessica Q. – California

I was wondering what you use as sources for your bone meal/organic vegetable fertilizer? Specifically if cattle bones are used.

Jessica Q. – California

The source for our bone meal is sheep bone.

Bruce B. – California

What is your best potting soil and best fertilizer for papayas and plumerias?

Bruce B. – California

The best potting soil is Home Grown Potting Soil. Fertilize your papayas with Natural Wonder Fruit Tree fertilizer and for your plumerias use our Exotic Blend. And to maximize your papayas & plumeria blooms in the summer try our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster. This will have more phosphorus that your plumerias & papayas will need in the long, hot summer.

Ashby W. – Texas

I have whiteflies on my plants. I bought the final stop to kill them. My question is when can I water the plants? Should I spray first or water first?

Ashby W. – Texas

You can water anytime as long as you are watering the soil and not the actual plants. If you will be getting the plants wet, then water them first and then apply.

Nicholas M. – California

I think you guys make some good stuff and am wondering what products and feeding schedule you suggest for cannabis?

Nicholas M. – California

Our go to dry fertilizers for the vegetative stage we recommend are Home Grown & Premium Gold. For the flowering stage, we recommend Flower Girl. We have a great check list and feeding schedule in our Gardening Guide Magazine pages 48 & 49 (see Garden Guides page on navigation bar).

Christopher B. – New York

Can you use the Life All Purpose Fertilizer on your lawn?

Christopher B. – New York

Yes, you can use Life All Purpose Fertilizer on your lawn. Use a hand spreader or a drop spreader or by hand and try to apply evenly.

Janie L. – Texas

Our Yorkie ate some of the soil today out of a potted plant that contained a small amount of your Rose/Bloom fertilizer after I had mixed it in the soil today. Though your product contains natural ingredients we just wanted to make sure this wasn’t toxic to dogs. He seems to be okay but I wanted to make sure.

Janie L. – Texas

We are glad to hear your Yorkie is okay. If your Yorkie ate a lot, he might get an upset stomach. Our products are made of 100% organic ingredients that dogs seem to love, but just make sure when you use next time to water in to discourage him from eating (we do not use chemical poisons in our products).

Tom C. – Hawaii

I purchased a large bag of fruit tree fertilizer last fall. The bag was kept in dry garage over winter. I went to use the fertilizer the other day and there was a bunch of small bugs with wings in the bag. Seems they burrow into the fertilizer. Is the fertilizer still good? Where did these bugs come from?

Tom C. – Hawaii

That has happen to me before then I bought a 5 gallon bucket with lid to store the fertilizer. That has stopped that from happening again. If you have a few bugs, you will be okay to use but if its infested with bugs, throw it out. As to where they come from it’s like moths they just show up from your surroundings.

Dylan K. – Michigan

What is your best fertilizer for growing cannabis?

Dylan K. – Michigan

When growing cannabis we recommend 2 fertilizers. For the vegetation period, Premium Gold All Purpose & Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster for the flowering stage of the plant. You can use just one, but to maximize your production of oils, terpenes and yield using both and or some of our other products will help achieve great results.

Tom M.

No one around here knows citrus trees. Can you offer a gauge as to how much and how often to use Dr Earth fruit tree fertilizer in my potted citrus?

Tom M.

For new plantings add 2 cups per every 5 gallons of soil. Then apply once a month of growing season. For the season you have in Pennsylvania, what you should try in conjunction with our dry, is our liquid Natural Wonder this will help make the most production out of year season.

Nancy D. – California

What is the difference in size between the medium, fine, and micro barks? Also, how does using the shredded bark compare with using the medium bark (in terms of the effectiveness of reducing weeds and also with it’s longevity)?

Nancy D. – California

The difference on sizes goes as following: Medium 1 1/2 -2 inches; Fine 1- 1 1/2 inches; Micro under 1 inch in size. Both Shredded bark & medium bark are similar in reducing weeds. The medium bark will last longer you might have to re-apply in 2- 3 years with no walking traffic in full sun.

Steve H. – Oregon

How long after use of Final Stop can the sprayed area be planted?

Steve H. – Oregon

If you are referring to our Final Stop Weed & Grass Killer, you can plant right after the weed or grass is dead.

Jonathan M. – New York

I’m thinking about using both Final Stop Fungus Control and Insect Killer on my lawn here in New York.
How many times should I apply both of the products now and through out the summer?

Jonathan M. – New York

If its just for preventative use every other week, but if you are trying to address a disease, fungus or insect problem specifically, use daily, weekly until you control the problem. We recommend spraying in the early AM. Shake well. Our products are safe when used as directed – 100% organic essential oils.

Jane M. – California

Is there an expiration date for the products? Do I have to use them up within a certain period of time, or do they stand being on the shelf for a year perhaps?

Jane M. – California

Yes, there is an expiration date for our dry fertilizer. If it has been stored in a dry cool place it will last for a few years.

Bill R. – Montana

I am attempting a cannabis plant in my garden and each year I top off with a new layer ~2″ compost and I mix in your general 5-5-5. So, my question supplement is, how (liquid or top dress), what (which fertilizer) and when (how ofter) do I add the additional fertilizer?

Bill R. – Montana

Once your plant shows signs of flowering you can use Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster dry the amount varies depending on container size. You can apply every 3 weeks and use until 3 weeks before harvest. To really get great oil & terpenes production adding our Golden Bloom and Metabolic Transformer to your plants it will help achieve great results & maximize your yield!

Linda

I will be applying your Final Stop Weed killer and want to know how long I must wait before I allow kids or dogs onto the area where I sprayed?

Linda

Your kids & dogs can go onto the areas you sprayed right after it has dried. Make sure to shake product well for optimum results.

Janice D. – California

What is wrong with my Meyer lemon tree? I get tons of fruit off my tree but a lot of the buds fall off.

Janice D. – California

Buds falling off is normal. The tree will only be able to support so many fruit. My citrus this season had so many fruits on it I had to thin it out and cut off a lot of  oranges because it was snapping branches (too much weight). Just make sure that your Meyer lemon tree is well fertilized.

Chris R. – Oklahoma

Will the Acid Lovers effectively bring down soil Ph?

Chris R. – Oklahoma

Acid Lovers dry fertilizer will bring down your soil Ph, also combo it with our Acid Lovers Planting Mix your plants will love it! link down below.

Hector F. – Texas

Is your lawn fertilizer safe for pets?

Hector F. – Texas

Both our lawn fertilizers are safe for pets if used as directed. If you are using our liquid lawn fertilizer wait till after lawn is dry to let your pets on the grass. If you are using our dry pelletized lawn fertilizer wait till you see the pellets dissolve before your pets go on the lawn.

Mary W. – New Hampshire

I just got your granular rose and flower fertilizer. It says to put it on established flowers in early spring. Would it be harmful to put it on now (May 28 in New Hampshire)? If so, when would be the best time to use it?

Mary W. – New Hampshire

It is perfectly fine to use Total Advantage Rose & Flower dry fertilizer now. It will not harm your plants. You might want to try our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster in the summer. Your flowers would enjoy a little more phosphorus in the summer.

Earlene J. – South Carolina

Is Dr. Earth garden insect spray safe to spray on blooming flowers?

Earlene J. – South Carolina

Yes, Final Stop garden insect spray is safe to spray on blooming flowers.

Courtney

May I use the organic bud and bloom booster on my houseplants?

Courtney

Yes, you can use Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster on your houseplants. If you are using our dry formula you might want to take them outside due to fish smell (few days outdoor). If you are using our liquid formula then just apply as directed.

Kate K. – Texas

I am wondering if I can use the liquid lawn food on my crepe Myrtles?

Kate K. – Texas

Yes, you can use our liquid lawn food on your crepe Myrtles early in the growing season, but I suggest our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster, so they also get phosphorus for root development and blooms.

Ann E. – Washington

I purchased your fungicide concentrate. Does the lawn need to be wet when I spray? When should it be watered after application? How soon can the lawn be mowed after applying?

Ann E. – Washington

Your lawn does not need to be wet when you spray. You can water the next day or when ever you have irrigation set to (normal watering habits). You can cut your lawn once application is dry.

Robert F. – Washington

Does the Final Stop for weeds and grass kill lawn grass as well?

Robert F. – Washington

Final Stop Weed & Grass Killer will kill lawn grass. So if you like your lawn do not use it there.

Monty B. – California

I just purchased your black organic potting soil. Can you tell me PH level?

Monty B. – California

Our Home Grown Potting Soil (black bag) PH level is 6.4.

Jane P. – California

How long does Dr Earth’s fine mulch last?

Jane P. – California

Our mulches longevity depends on its environment. Barks usually last longer than shredded mulch, but from my own experience, I have had to add more bark about every 2 -3 years the area is in full sun all day. If its in an area with walk on traffic you might find your self re-applying every year.

William S. – Minnesota

I have a 4 lb bag of Dr. Earth Natural Wonder. Is this ok to use on blueberry bushes? Will it help to acidify the soil? I need to add some soil to blueberry plants so was going to mix this in.

William S. – Minnesota

For your blueberry bushes we recommend our dry Acid Lover fertilizer. Blueberries thrive in acidic soil. Natural Wonder will feed your blueberries but it won’t provide the acidic needs for them.

Lilliana O. – Massachussets

Is the Final Stop product safe for bees and birds?

Lilliana O. – Massachussets

We recommend using our Final Stop in the early AM when bees are less active. When used as directed our product is safe for bees & birds. We do not use chemical poisons. We use 100% Organic essential oils.

Jim B. – Florida

I purchased the 24 oz concentrate of Final Stop fungicide for use on my lawn. Can you please advise how much product to use per 1,000 sq ft of lawn?

Jim B. – Florida

We recommend using a dial sprayer and setting it to 4 TBSP setting. How much product for use per 1000 sq ft depends on how long or how fast you move when applying and what are you using? tank sprayer? Hose dial? The bottle treats up 3750 sq. ft. If you are concerned about over doing it or not applying enough just make sure that the grass gets a coat of spray. You don’t have to soak the lawn, move evenly and briskly for an application.

Amy S. – California

I just bought two containers of your Total Advantage Rose and Flower Fertilizer yesterday and noticed that the sticker on the bottom of the containers says 1/5/19. Usually that is the “use by” date. Can you please tell me if I need to return it, or if it is usable?

Amy S. – California

The sticker on the bottom is Born on date.  Your Total Advantage Rose & Flower Liquid fertilizer is good and ready for your garden!

Joe T. – Tennessee

Joe T. – Tennessee

Yes, you can use the liquid in your hydroponic grow dilute 1-2 oz per water depending on hydroponic system.

Marian F. – Arizona

I bought several bags of you cedar bark mulch to spread in my vegetable garden. Do I need to be concerned with the proposition 65 warning on the bag because we will be eating these foods?

Marian F. – Arizona

Everything we make is 100% organic. Prop 65 is listed on all of our products. The reason we do this is because all organic ingredients contain traces of lead and other metals that are listed under Prop 65. We put this marking on our products to be transparent, even though the level of lead in our products is far lower than the requirements by Prop 65.

James P. – Arizona

Can I mix the dry products such as Flower Girl in a bucket of water before applying?

James P. – Arizona

Yes, you can. We have a great fertilizer tea recipe on the back of the bag and your plants will love it. You might also consider using our Flower Girl Liquid.

Brooke L. – California

The correct ratio is 2oz per gallon of water.

Mary C. – New Jersey

I’m looking for a product t0 spray on my shrubs and roses to prevent insects. Which one of your products would you recommend for that, or are your products only for when your plants actively have insects?

Daniel H. – California

I have clay soil, lousy, doesn’t retain water. suspect alkaline. planting iceberg floribundas and boxwood around. What amendments/products do you recommend? I’m tempted because roses like 6.5 and suspect this is a bit alkaline to add small amount peat and steer manure to products.

Daniel H. – California

We recommend our Dry Total Advantage Rose & flower fertilizer with our Mother Land Planting mix. This will work for both your Iceberg Roses and boxwood. Stay away from steer or chicken manures. They won’t perform like you think they should. They are very cheap sources of nitrogen. We use premium ingredients like Fish meal, Fish Bone meal, Kelp meal & Kelp flour, and all our dry fertilizers and premium soil mixes contain Trubiotics!

Jeanne H. – California

Can I use the hose end Final Stop Veg Garden Insect Killer as a concentrate for my pump up sprayer? If so, what would be the dilution rate?

Jeanne H. – California

Pavitra K. – California

The All purpose Liquid Gold Fertlizer says that it is derived from digested food materials and digested food byproducts. What does that mean? What do you mean by digested?

Pavitra K. – California

The process begins with an industrial food digester equipped with a motorized grinder to pulverize the food scraps into a nutrient-rich slurry. This slurry is enzymatically digested and stored in an enclosed stainless-steel tank, keeping it thoroughly aerated and agitated. The tanks containing meats, fruits, vegetables, seafood bones and other organic foods are stored behind participating supermarkets until they’re collected by a tanker truck and brought to a main processing facility for further refinement. The finished materials are converted to the most nutrient-rich organic fertilizer in the world with the highest level of sustainability. They are handcrafted in small batches using patented biologics and mechanics to convert high-quality organic food materials into molecular fats, proteins and carbohydrates, without the use of any synthetic additives. The products and processes are reviewed at every stage to ensure safety and ease of use and are independently examined by a California microbial consulting group to ensure transparency and efficacy in all growth media. Everything you would feed your family, can be used to feed plants, saving the world and make it a better place at the same time. Renewable energy is the final frontier and it will solve a long overdue problem.

Janet B. – Alabama

I would like to use your Final Stop yard and garden insect killer on my lawn. I have a couple of questions before I do. First…how long does my puppy have to stay off the grass after spraying your product? Second…is it safe for my puppy to eat the grass after staying off the yard the allotted time? Thank you in advance for a prompt response.

Janet B. – Alabama

Once Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer is dry your dog can go on the lawn,  The grass is safe for your puppy to eat after it has dried.

Brian B. – South Carolina

My container squash have brown on the ends. How can I reverse this?

Brian B. – South Carolina

Brown spots on the end of your squash sounds like blossom end rot, which is a lack of calcium. On the existing squash you can’t reverse but you can prevent it on other squash by fertilizing with Home Grown Dry Fertilizer. It has plenty of calcium in it.

Tabitha P. – Arkansas

Can I add Dr. Earth Premium Gold All Purpose Fertilizer to my water in my water garden? Is it fish safe?

Tabitha P. – Arkansas

We do not recommend using our Premium Gold All Purpose Fertilizer in your water garden. Even though we are 100% Premium Organic it was not designed for water gardens with fish in them.

Nick D. – Tennessee

Do I spray final stop yard and garden insect killer directly onto the plant, foliage, flowers, etc. or into the soil? It says thorough contact is required. Does that mean I have to spray directly on the insect?

Nick D. – Tennessee

Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer is a contact kill spray, you will have to spray the entire plant & under leaves (foliage, flowers) and yes you want to target the insects directly, repeat as necessary. Make sure to apply in early AM or in late evening.

Sarah B. – California

I accidentally applied about 5 times the suggested method to my garden bed. Then I put a layer of compost on top and planted some starts. I did not turn the soil. Then I planted some starts. And THEN I realized I had over fertilized. Do you think my plants will die? Is there any way to mitigate the issue at this point?

Sarah B. – California

No worries Sarah, you won’t hurt your plants. We do not use manures like chicken or steer that can run hot sometimes and have the chance of burning roots/plants if you over add. We only use premium ingredients like fish, kelp, alfalfa. Your plants will do just fine.

Joe M. – New Jersey

Which product should be used to feed rasberrys?

Joe M. – New Jersey

For your raspberries we recommend our Natural Wonder. We have a dry and liquid. If they are new, I suggest using our dry then watering it in with our liquid. The liquid will start working quicker and the dry will maintain longer during the growing season.

Tisha R. – Arizona

Yes, you can use Final Stop Vegetable Garden Insect Killer on your indoor cactus.

Elizabeth P. – California

I purchased you ready-to-spray tomato and vegetable liquid fertilizer concentrate but there are no instructions of how much to feed. I have my tomatoes in 5-gallon containers. How much spray should I use and how often?

Elizabeth P. – California

If you are using our Home Grown Liquid hose end concentrate, water how you would normally water those containers. If it’s our concentrate and need to mix, then 2 oz. per gallon of water. Make sure you slowly turn on water, if you have high water pressure our hose end will shoot out hard as well, so if they are smaller containers you are watering start slow with low pressure. Apply every two weeks.

Briana R. – Oregon

Briana R. – Oregon

Brian L. – California

Marcus W. – Tennessee

Could you advise as to how much Flower Girl fertiliser is recommended for dahlias (in the ground)? And how often would one apply?

Marcus W. – Tennessee

Use 1/2 cup per plant and scratch into soil around the base of the plant. Repeat every other month in the growing season.

Margaret V. – New York

On the bud and bloom buster can this be harmful if you use a little too much or is it SAFE! I have lots of planted planters and was wondering if I could just apply in around the plants and then just lightly scratch it in with my fingers. Would that be OK?

Margaret V. – New York

It is totally safe. You might want to try in the near future our Pump & Grow for your container plants. Its easy and 100% premium organic!

Rose F. – North Carolina

I sprayed your Final Stop bug spray on my rosemary plants….is it now poisonous to use in cooking?

Rose F. – North Carolina

Cameron S. – Washington

What is the ‘rainproofness’ of the Final Stop? What is the recommended application time prior to rain?

Cameron S. – Washington

Our Final Stop Insect Killers products are design to kill on contact. It is not rain proof, so if it dries before bugs show up it won’t kill them if it rains right after you apply. You will have to reapply again.

Judith P. – Colorado

Will Dr. Earth Vegetable Garden Insect Killer kill bees?

Judith P. – Colorado

Final Stop Vegetable Garden Insect Killer, when used as directed will not kill bees. We recommend to spray early in the AM when bees and lady bugs are not present. Once dry it will not kill bees.

Heather S. – Georgia

What type of fertilizer should I use for gardenia bushes?

Heather S. – Georgia

If you haven’t fertilized those gardenias in a while I recommend our Acid Lover Dry Fertilizer. Heather M. – Arizona

I’m learning that my potted grapevine may be needing potassium. Is your “Home Grown” tomato vegetable and herb fertilizer an appropriate choice?

Heather M. – Arizona

The right fertilizer for your grapes is our Natural Wonder Fruit tree fertilizer dry. It’s for all fruit trees, all vines all berries and grapes, You can use our dry alone, but for some outstanding results, I have a suggestion with our Dry Fertilizer around the base of your grapevine then mulch it with our Natural Wonder Planting mix then water it in with our Natural Wonder Liquid fertilizer. Your grape vine will flourish with growth and tasty yields.

Daniel D. – Texas

Can I take the final stop Vegetable Garden Insect Killer spray and put it in a garden pump sprayer?  I’m not sure what dilution ratio to use.

Daniel D. – Texas

You can dilute 2 oz per gallon of water in a pump sprayer. Make sure your veggies/plants are well fertilized so they stay healthy. When plants are healthy they are less prone to disease and insect problems.

Schuyler W. – California

I have a bottle of your 1-1-2 cactus and succulent plant food. Long story short, my dog licked up a puddle of the liquid, and although it’s pet-safe, I know it’s not intended for consumption. I’m wondering if you could tell me what other ingredients are in the formula and if it poses any danger. Also, we may have a defective pump–the contents of our bottle drip out when not in use.

Schuyler W. – California

Our liquid fertilizers are made of food grade grocery waste (whole  organic foods) like fish, meat, vegetables and fruits. Your right, it is not intended for animal or human consumption. From experience my dog has licked the cap and my measuring cup when I have used our product, it has not effected him in any way. That being said every dog is different. Sounds like you did get a defective pump that happens time to time, the retailer you purchased it from should have no problems exchanging it for you.

Deborah P. – Alaska

Does the Dr. Earth Super Active soil inoculant expire? If unopened, how long is it good for?

Deborah P. – Alaska

If stored in cool dry conditions Super Active Soil inoculant could last for 10 years.

McQuetta M. – Michigan

I have liquid fertilizer and I wanted to know do they have expiration dates. I have stickers on the bottom of the bottles. Are these the expiration dates?

McQuetta M. – Michigan

The date on the sticker on the bottom is a born on date and NOT an expiration date.

Mary S. – California

I have a grapefruit tree that looks to have Greasy Spot disease. Everything I read says Copper Spray is used for it. Do you have any product that would work on this?

Mary S. – California

For your grapefruit use our Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide that will take care of your issue. Very easy to use.

Diane B. – New York

I have a raised bed 4’ x 6’. It was recommended that I mix a bag of Vegetable Garden Planting Mix in with the existing soil. I would like to know if that mix contains fertilizer. If not, when should I begin fertilizing and what fertilizer do you recommend for tomatoes and eggplant?

Diane B. – New York

Our Home Grown Vegetable Planting Mix does contain soil amendments/fertilizer and has about a 30 day charge, but we do highly recommend that you use our Home Grown Dry fertilizer when first planting new seedlings to really maximize your yields of your veggies in your raised garden beds. I also encourage you trying our Liquid Home Grown as well and use in conjunction with our dry for the ultimate growing experience!  First mix Home Grown Vegetable Planting Mix, mix into raised bed, dig holes for veggies apply dry Home Grown fertilizer, then water it in with Home Grown Liquid fertilizer. Your garden will love this combo!

Frank T. – Washington

How much Dr. Earth Tomato, Vegetable & Herb fertilizer should I use when I plant tomatoes? How much per plant when I first put them in the ground?

Frank T. – Washington

Use 1/2 cup per tomato plant. Make sure you sprinkle around the root ball of the plant when you plant in hole. I recommend our Home Grown Liquid to water in our dry fertilizer. This will get your plants some nutrients quickly and get them off to a great start! It will also help with yield and production of those tomatoes!

Karen R. – California

Do your dry fertilizers have micronutrients in them?

Karen R. – California

Yes, our dry fertilizers do have micro nutrients/trace elements in them. They are coming from the kelp meal, kelp flour, fish meal and fish bone meal that we use to make our fertilizers. That is one of the reasons for having ocean rich amendments in our fertilizers.

Karen C. – New Hampshire

I took 2-3 inches off my lawn and am getting loam/compost mix delivered on Saturday. I would like to feed the clay soil before I add the delivery on Saturday. Then I will hydroseed that. Can I use the super lawn food on the existing dirt before I cover?

Karen C. – New Hampshire

Yes, it is perfectly fine to use the Super Natural Lawn food before. You can also use it after. No worries on burning. You might want to consider using our Nitrogen once your lawn is established.

Amie L. – Colorado

I purchased the Dr. Earth Flower Girl Bud and Bloom Booster, and I sprinkled it on top of my large flowering basket. I’ve had trouble in the past with these baskets not flowering through the summer. How often should I reapply this fertilizer to a hanging flower basket? What about for other potted flowers?

Amie L. – Colorado

We recommend  applying every 2 month. May I also suggest our Liquid Flower Girl on top of our dry. The liquid will give those large flower baskets a boost at critical times and help promote those blooms all summer long.

Eric S. – Minnesota

Does the Final Stop Weed and Grass Killer Herbicide kill my ‘good’ grass? I.e. is it a ground-clear or will it kill just the ‘bad’ weeds and grasses?

Eric S. – Minnesota

Final Stop Weed & Grass killer Herbicide will kill all vegetation. We do not recommend you using it on your lawn.

Matt C. – California

I use your liquid tomatoes fertilizer and it’s great on my tomatoes and vegetables and herds! I recently planted a lot of flowers: Mexican petunias, dahlias, poppies,, zinnias, daisies, salvias, calla lilies— and I’m wondering which fertilizers that you make would be good for these flowers.

Matt C. – California

What a great mix of flowers! What we recommend right now is our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster. What’s great about Flower Girl is that you can also use it on your veggies going into and thru summer.

Terry K. – Florida

I am using Final Stop Vegetable Garden Spray on my tomatoes. Do I have to wait to pick tomatoes after using product?

Terry K. – Florida

No, you do not have to wait, you can spray Final Stop the day of harvest. That is how safe it is! Simply rinse, like you would any vegetable and enjoy.

Carol L. – California

I purchased your granular tomato fertilizer for my patio potted tomato plants. I probably should have purchased one of your liquid fertilizers, but I am wondering how to use the fertilizer on my potted plants? Do I put some son top and hope it will seep through the soil? You mention making a tea with it and applying it to the plants. How would I do this?

Carol L. – California

You want to scratch it in the soil around the plant, mix 1/4 cup per 5 gallons of soil. You can also make our fertilizer tea, the recipe is on the back of the bag.

John R. – Massachusetts

I was wondering if I can pair nightcrawlers Too my plants with using dr.earth 4-4-4 and bloom booster turning it into a living soil.

John R. – Massachusetts

Yes, our fertilizers will not harm night crawlers, earthworms or red wigglers.

Bob N. – Arizona

I buy your Natural Wonder for my fruit trees, peaches, plums, nectarines, persimmons, Asian apple and figs, but I also has some tropical trees and am wondering which product you suggest I use for mango, papaya, avocado and mamey sapote.

Bob N. – Arizona

Natural Wonder will work for all your fruit trees, but if you want to take it to the next level I would recommend later in the growing season to use our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster. This will help maximize your yield and harvest.

Sandra H.

After using your fertilizer in my potted herb plants I noticed this white stuff growing on top of soil. I’ve never had this before and it looks different than typical mold. It has tentacles growing all over. Any info on what this could be would be appreciated!

Sandra H.

Have no worries. the soil is at work! It’s living soil. What you are seeing is mycorrhizae its a fungi good for your soil and plants it’s listed on the back of the bag under the saying “BENEFICIAL SOIL MICROBES & MYCORRHIZAE”.

Wayne F. – Washington

Can I mix your Tomato, Vegetable & Herb fertilizer in a one gallon watering can and just water my lettuce, tomatoes and bush brand plants? How much fertilizer per gallon?

Wayne F. – Washington

If you are referring to our liquid fertilizer, it will be 2 oz per gallon of water. If you are talking about our dry fertilizer you can make a fertilizer tea, the recipe is on the back of the bag.

Carol Y. – California

I ran out of my Dr Earth Total Advantage Premium Concentrate Rose and Flower Fertilizer hose attached fertilizer. Can I pour the bottle of concentrate into my hose attachment applicator as a refill and use without burning my plants???? Also, if I used it on my veggie plants, will it hurt them?

Carol Y. – California

Yes you can pour our concentrate liquid into our hose end and it will not burn your plants. As for your veggie plants we do recommend our Home Grown Liquid or Dry Fertilizers as they cater to their needs. Using your existing fertilizer won’t harm or burn your veggies but our recommendations will help you grow healthy and plentiful Veggies!

Devlin L. – New Jersey

Which product would you recommend to prevent control and/or kill green worms that I get every year on my geraniums?

Devlin L. – New Jersey

We recommend Final Stop Yard & Garden, we have it in a ready to spray trigger or a concentrate depending on how much you might need. Make sure you spray under neath the leaves as that’s where you find them (eggs) and worms.

Ben C. – Oregon

The instructions for the Dr. Earth Acid Lovers Fertilizer specify to use two cups per inch of trunk diameter. How many cups are there per pound of product?

Ben C. – Oregon

Good question but you are looking at 14.4 cups for 4lbs. 3.6 cups = 1lb.

Judy F. – Colorado

How long does it take and how many applications for your weed killer to work?

Judy F. – Colorado

Times vary depending on size and temperature. It works quicker when the suns out (70’s temps.), usually within that day, but if its overcast and cool it could take a few days.

David D. – California

I am putting down new sod. Every where I read said to fertilize the top soil before laying down the sod and then fertilize again after laying down the sod. My local nursery sold me your Nitrogen All Purpose Fertilizer and said to fertilize the top soil and then lay down the sod and not to fertilize again after laying down the sod. #1. Did I get the correct fertilizer for new sod? #2. How do you recommend fertilizing for new sod?

David D. – California

I would recommend putting Nitrogen before laying down your sod then using our Super Natural Lawn Food Liquid to water after sod is down. Or you can apply more Nitrogen fertilizer on top. The reason I recommend our liquid is that it will break down faster so it will feed that newly transplanted sod quicker.

Kim C. – Colorado

I am getting ready to plant a bunch of caladium bulbs. Which fertilizer should I use? It was recommended I use a slow release formula for them. Are your products slow release? Can you comment on this idea?

Kim C. – Colorado

We make an amazing Bulb Food “Spectacular” with high phosphorus just what your Caladium bulbs will thrive in. It will bring out that nice color on the foliage.

Amy R. – North Carolina

I recently purchased your succulent liquid fertilizer from Home Depot and it’s hard to see but it looks like the date on the bottom is 2016…I believe it is a sticker from your company rather than Home Depot. I’ve never used a fertilizer for a succulent and wanted to check that this date is OK for my plants.

Amy R. – North Carolina

The sticker on the bottom is born on date not an expiration date. We use it to let us know when that batch of fertilizer was made.

Sue C. – California

I have potted several succulent cuttings and plants in terra cotta pots using the Dr. Earth Exotic Blend for Cacti and Succulents. Within a week or so, the soil in the pots hardens, and does not let water pass through the soil. I checked the succulent plants that they have at the nursery and the soil is soft and loose. They tell me that their plants are planted in the same mix. Any suggestions?

Sue C. – California

Sounds like you got real dry soil bags. This happens, but soil is still good. If you have your pots in saucer let them sit in water and they should start to wick the water, if you don’t have them in saucers try slowly soaking your pots make sure you scratch the surface of the soil. Once the soil rehydrates that problem of the water repelling should go away.

Beth D. – Pennsylvania

I am a big fan of your LIFE All Purpose Fertilizer in the 5-5-5 formulation, but I don’t see it on your website, I only see 4-6-5. The store where I usually buy it doesn’t currently have any in stock. Did you discontinue the 5-5-5, and if not, where can I order it?

Beth D. – Pennsylvania

Life 5-5-5 has been discontinued and replaced by Life 4-6-5, It is still a great fertilizer and pelletized, Just throw and go. And now registered Organic and OMRI Listed. Your plants will love it! We offer New Life in 1lb, 4lb, 12lb, 25lb & 40lb.

Dan O. – Minnesota

How long after manufacture day is product still active?

Dan O. – Minnesota

If the product is unopened and stored in cool place about 5 years.

John K. – Colorado

I have just purchased your Organic Tomato, Vegetable, & Herb Fertilizer for the first time. I will use it primarily for tomatoes/herbs. Is it at all possible to mix it with water? I would find it easier to use as a liquid than as it is in its original form.

John K. – Colorado

You can make a fertilizer tea with it. On the back of the bag we have a recipe for the fertilizer tea. You might want try our Liquid Home Grown fertilizer.

Dan L. – Rhode Island

Is your Root Zone Starter Fertilizer also suitable for growing grass from grass seed ? If so, how should I apply the fertilizer – before or after spreading the grass seed?

Dan L. – Rhode Island

Our Root Zone Starter Fertilizer is not designed for lawns, We do make lawn/grass fertilizers. Nitrogen which is pelletized and you would apply by spreader after grass seed or our Super Natural Lawn Food hose end sprayer, just attach to your hose and water grass seeds.

Deb T. – Florida

I want very much to start growing my own lettuce and tomatoes but was planning on using a passive hydroponic system (Kratky or similiar) indoors. What Dr. Earth nutrients do you recommend as i want to go the organic route?

Deb T. – Florida

Shirley B. – Washington

I bought two bags of Dr. Earth potting soil for tomatoes/veggies. I opened one bag and it had a lot of white “stuff” all over it. I opened the other bag and it also had the white stuff all over it. Is this normal? It was like mildew or mold?

Shirley B. – Washington

Have no worries, the soil is at work, it’s living soil. what you are seeing is mycorrhizae. It’s a fungi good for your soil and plants it’s listed on the back of the bag under the saying “BENEFICIAL SOIL MICROBES & MYCORRHIZAE” That soil is so ready for planting!

Bernadette M. – Washington

Bernadette M. – Washington

We recommend applying early in the AM or late in evening to avoid direct contact. Our products are safe for bees when used as directed.

Christina

Which product do I use to fertilize my lawn?

Christina

Ann Marie F. – Colorado

It’s a great way to quickly give your plants a boost from stress, transplants and just good overall health. You might be interested in our Root Gold for some future gardening.

Michael P. – Ohio

Bought a bag of the tomato vegetable &herb fertilizer. My garden is already planted. Tomatoes are up and peppers are up. My beans and cucumber are not up because planted them by seed. My question is should I sprinkle it around the plants or try make the tea and use it that way?

Michael P. – Ohio

I recommend scratching in around the base of soil and also making some tea, your plants will love it! also if you prefer watering in fertilizers try our Home Grown liquid, Tomatoes are heavy feeders and using the Tea or  Home Grown Liquid fertilizer will help produce nutrient dense and heavy yielding crops.

Jeff L. – Florida

Jeff L. – Florida

Final Stop Disease Control and Fungicide works on palms for powdery mildew.

Uli H. – New York

Is it possible to dissolve Home Grown Organic Tomato, Veg & Herb fertilizer in water and use it to water potted herbs (rather then mixing it into the soil, dry)?

Uli H. – New York

Our Home Grown will not dissolve in water completely, but you can do a compost tea with it, on the back of the bag we have our easy recipe. You might like to try our liquid fertilizer next time if you prefer watering it in instead of mixing it in with soil.

Ann O. – Oregon

Does Final stop Insect killer kill or harm lady bugs? We can’t see anything on the label and their is a cut little picture of a lady bug on the label….and when we sprayed it, lady bugs landed on it and didn’t die immediately.

Ann O. – Oregon

It’s safe when used as directed. The best time to spray your plants is early morning, when Lady bugs and bees are less active or late evening and don’t spray them directly.

Gerri F. – California

Are there plants that you should not spray with Final Stop?

Gerri F. – California

Final Stop Yard & Garden is safe for all plants when used as directed.

Sandra D. – South Carolina

I mixed Dr. Earth Root Zone Starter Fertilizer into my soil along with some mushroom compost when I planted all my shrubs this spring. I also mixed it with the potting soil when I transplanted a young Japanese Maple into a very large container & with a few container flowers. How long after planting should I wait to apply a regular fertilizer to my in ground shrubs? Is it the same or different with my containered plants?

Sandra D. – South Carolina

After 30 days we recommend using appropriate fertilizers for containers and in ground. I recommend for most of your tree shrubs and flowers using our Premium Gold Fertilizer and our Acid Lovers for your Japanese Maple as they thrive in acidic soil. Then just follow as direct. I have linked below our recommendations for your growing needs.

Frank K.

The dilution rate for Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide is 2oz per gallon of water, make sure you shake well!

DeeDee F. – Idaho

Nicole C. – new Hampshire

You can use Pure Gold Pump & Grow for your seedlings just dilute it to 1/2 oz per gallon of water, until you transplant to 4-6 inch container, then use full strength. That, along with our Root Zone Seed Starting mix will get those seedling roots nice and healthy it contains our Trubiotics!

Linda M.

I’ve just purchased your pure gold all purpose fertilizer, and I’d like to know why there is a cancer warning on the package. There’s no indication of what that warning is about. Can you please let me know?

Linda M.

The state of California requires us to have this on our label. No worries our products are 100% Organic and Non-GMO and certified by the same state. It does not make a lot of sense to us.

Traci S. – Pennsylvania

Angel

I have all the materials and the feeding schedule for to grow my cannabis with your dry amendments and have a a question. For the feeding schedule, is it one month of veg or two before going into flower?

Angel

Veg is for 2 months before going into flower, that being said the feeding chart is a guide as strains of cannabis vary and so do lighting schedules. Make sure your material check list has our Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer. It can be used for a preventative against Spider Mites and can be used up to the day of harvest. It’s better to be prepared before insect problems become extreme.

Matt E. – California

I bought a couple containers of the Final Stop weed and Grass killer, which has worked pretty well so far. I dumped one gallon into a pressurized tank sprayer which worked ok, but it was a little thick and didn’t want to move through the system easily. I was just wondering if diluting it a bit would reduce its effectiveness, and if there is a recommended ratio I would be able to dilute it to work with a pressure sprayer.

Matt E. – California

We do not recommend diluting. Yes you are correct it will reduce its effects, so you will probably have apply additional applications. Stay tuned we will soon be launching our concentrates of Final Stop Weed & Grass Killer.

Adina K. – California

I bought your Root Zone last year. The bag says it doesn’t expire until Dec of this year, 2020, but when I went to use it a few weeks ago, I opened it up and it reeks of ammonia. Is this normal? I had hoped this would last more than one season? Thank you. I do love your products!

Adina K. – California

The Root Zone Seed starter mix just needs to be aired out, pour it out and let it dry. That is more common than you think.

Arthur C. – Kentucky

I have a large old burning bush. Will your weed and grass killer product damage my bush by being sprayed on the ground near it? How far should I stay away? How long does your product stay active?

Arthur C. – Kentucky

Our Final Stop Weed & Grass Killer will not harm the soil, Make sure you do not get any over spray on plants that you want to live. Spray on a calm day with no winds, shake product well before each use. You can spray the ground near it. It needs to contact for it to kill or harm plants.

Jennifer D. – California

I have purchased your yard and garden insect killer spray concentrate and would like to use my own sprayer. How much of the product should I add to a gallon of water?

Jennifer D. – California

The dilution rate is 2oz per gallon of water, be sure to shake well before use.

Barbara S. – New York

We just put our first grade in – raised beds. We ordered top soil and filled our boxes and then tested it. It is depleted of everything. We have started a compost pile. It is extremely Alkaline. What would you recommend we use to try and get the soil able to grow this season? We used Dr. Earth on my son’s orange trees and loved it. So we trust you.

Barbara S. – New York

How exciting! Sounds like you have got some of the basics on their way. When it comes to most top soils in bulk, they lack nutrients and other essential organic matter. I suggest our Home Grown Planting Mix to top the beds if you are planting mostly veggies in them if you are planting More Flowers then Veggies than I would recommend our Mother Land Planting Mix to top the beds.  Also mix in some of our Home Grown Tomato & Veg Fertilizer! Your plants and soil will love it!

Harold G. – California

I live in Southern California. I just purchased the Organic Pot of Gold Potting Soil in preparation for starting an indoor vegetable garden. I will be starting from scratch, using organic seeds as well. The garden will be strictly indoors. Do I need to add fertilizer to this soil or will the fertilizer that is already mixed into it suffice?

Harold G. – California

If you are starting from seed, no you do not need to add fertilizer. Pot of Gold Potting Soil has about a 30 day charge then I suggest fertilizing. Stick with an Organic Fertilizer as you are using a living soil. I recommend our Home Grown Tomato & Vegetable fertilizer early in the season then Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster later in the season for optimal growth and production.

Erwin Y. – North Carolina

Can I dilute the Dr. Earth Final fungicide so I can use it in my own sprayer instead of using the hose. If so, what would be the ratio to water?

Erwin Y. – North Carolina

Yes you can dilute, 2oz per gallon.

Kirsten K. – Washington

I am looking to set up a 100 percent pet safe garden for my indoor felines. I am not garden savvy but basically black thumbed here. Can you direct me how to get started?

Kirsten K. – Washington

You are off to a good start because all of our products are People & Pet Safe when used as directed. 100% Organic & Non-GMO. When it comes to Plants that are safe for your indoor felines check with the experts at your local garden center to make sure they are safe.

Chandrahas P. – Texas

What is the best Fertilizer for all kind of In Ground and Container Roses and Jasmine Plants? Do I also need to Use Chemical Fertilizer e.g N-P-K 20-20-20, Phosphate, Epsom Salt, Potash etc. Do I still Use Liquid Kelp and Humic acid?

Chandrahas P. – Texas

We recommend our Total Advantage Rose & Flower Fertilizer, we have it in several sizes 1lb, 4lb, 12lb & 25lb. You do not need to use a Chemical fertilizer Our Rose fertilizer has Kelp Meal, Kelp Flour also contains Humic acid. Chemical fertilizers only feed the plant. Dr. Earth Organic fertilizers feed the soil that feeds your plants.

Amelia L. – Maryland

I want to Grow Microgreens in a tray and wanted to know if the VEGETABLE GARDEN PLANTING MIX is okay to use for planting Microgreens?

Amelia L. – Maryland

You can use our Home Grown Vegetable planting mix for your Micro greens, but our Root Zone seed starter mix is ideal for Micro greens. You might not get as much dense growth in the Vegetable Mix due to larger organic matter. But you can grow micro greens in it.

Carol F. – North Carolina

We are rather new to vegetable gardening. We planted lettuce, corn, tomatoes and squash from seeds a few weeks ago. We already had strawberries and onions growing. We understand now that it would have been optimal to have fertilized the soil before we planted the seeds, but since we did not, what would you recommend for the young seedlings? It looks like the dry mixes say to mix them with soil, but how do we do that when the young plants are already growing?

Carol F. – North Carolina

Welcome to vegetable gardening! No worries you can still gently scratch into the soil base of seedlings or you can top dress  1 1/3 cups per 10 sq feet of growing area and cover with compost, soil or mulch. Be sure to check our our Learning Center on our website and our video library!

Brian S. – Florida

I have your fish bone meal product and I was wondering how often to apply it. I bought it mainly to get some plumerias of mine to bloom, and I have used it on other plants of mine, and I’ve used it once already a month or two ago. The package doesn’t say how often to apply?

Brian S. – Florida

You should apply the Fish Bone Meal every 60 days during  the growing season.

Aron

Quick question from a customer regarding the cancer warning on The Dr Earth Tomato, Vegetable & Herb Fertilizer – 4LB.  I informed the customer that a lot of companies are required to put that on their label if they choose not to specifically test their products for heavy metals etc.  Is that the case with this product, or is that warning on there for another issue?

Aron

Most companies put it not because we do not want to disclose heavy metals, we do on our aapfco site listed on the bag, its because California law mandates it. Lawsuits were flying around a couple of years ago frivolously and even Starbucks has this sign on its front door! Its simply smart business to disclose that but it does not change the quality of our products or the quality of Starbucks coffee, its a business protection move. I see it on certified organic food products too.

Ricardo L. – California

How much Dr Earth compost starter should I add into my 35 gallons compost tumbler?

Ricardo L. – California

Please use 1 cup per 10 gallons of compost.

Scott F. – California

I am looking for an organic fertilizer that I can use with my existing irrigation system. Do you have a product that can be inserted into the filter on my drip zone head assembly?

Scott F. – California

I would suggest to check with the manufacture of your drip zone head assembly to see if your specific model allows it. That being said, our liquid concentrate fertilizers are filtered to be under 25 micrometers and can be used with irrigation lines, drip tape and sprayers. If the manufacture of your model does not allow to be inserted in the filter of your drip zone head assembly another alternative is a Siphon mixer, you can find at your local garden center or online.

Gary K. – New Jersey

Can your herb vegetable fertilizer be just applied to the surface soil around the plants?

Gary K. – New Jersey

When applying our product you would want to sprinkle it within the drip line of the plant, lightly scratch it into the soil and then water thoroughly. This will work best.

Cassidy T. – California

I bought your fruit tree insect killer concentrate with the hose sprayer bottle but the bottle leaks really badly after the house is connected. I want to just pour the concentrate into my own hose sprayer. What’s the ratio per gallon that I can set my sprayer dial to? 4oz?

Cassidy T. – California

Yes, 4 ounces per gallon of water is perfect. You can also apply it every three days if you have a heavy infestation you need to eliminate.

Debbie C. – Colorado

Instead of scratching into the soil, mulching, and watering in, can I mix the bud and bloom booster with water and use it to water plants?

Debbie C. – Colorado

Yes, you can, mix it with the soil well and try to homogenize it to the best of your ability, then plant, and water well immediately afterwards.

Cordelia M. – Tennessee

I was wondering if all of your soils are safe for dogs. I have a high energy dog who gets bored quickly and if I don’t watch her, sometimes she eats little nibbles of dirt/mud. I am trying to plant foraging grasses for her to eat (oat, rye, barley), and I am using a medium sized plastic baby pool to contain them. Which of your soil/products would you recommend and are they all pet safe? I can only use pet safe products.

Cordelia M. – Tennessee

Our products are all natural ingredients found in nature, while not recommend for consumption, if consumed your dog will not be poisoned. Your pet could have an upset stomach only because their bodies do not know how to process the fertilizer through their bodies.

Dee C. – California

Hi Dr. Earth! Love-Love-Love your products!! Where can I find your seaweed concentrate? I bought mine about 6 years ago and have just run out. I just discovered it is the only thing that allows me to grow spinach!

Dee C. – California

Thank you so much for your kind words and support! We love to have comments like this. We discontinued the Seaweed Extract but our Home Grown dry fertilizer is very successful in growing spinach. If you would prefer a liquid fertilizer we also carry a liquid version.

Mark G. – Nevada

I’m looking for the right product for mature Jeffery Pines. Also ornamental pears and plum trees?

Mark G. – Nevada

For Pines I always recommend using our Acid Lovers Fertilizer, and for the pears and plums I would recommend using the Natural Wonder Fruit Fertilizer.

Christian M. – Georgia

I just planted some Linebacker Distylium from 3 gallon pots 2 days ago. I added root starter to the holes before putting the plants in. I may have used more than 3/4 cup but I do not think it was considerably more. Probably 15% to 20% of the leaves on one of the bushes are turning brown and drying out. Can a slight excess of root starter cause the issue?

Christian M. – Georgia

You can push 50% more and still be safe, no worries. Please stay safe and healthy!

.

Alex O. – Colorado

I used Dr. Earth’s Pure Gold Pump & Grow All Purpose Plant Food on a few of my plants. I live in a very dry climate, so mold has never been an issue before. But within days of using, I noticed moles growing in a few of my plants. What do I do to fix this? Can I continue to use Dr. Earth’s safely?

Alex O. – Colorado

This can happen with the liquid fertilizer, it is not harmful, just mix it into the soil and water it again. This tends to happen with fertilizer being on the surface of the soil.

Catherine P. – Massachusetts

What fertilizer is best for transplanting perennials in the ground from pots that I purchased at a nursery?

Catherine P. – Massachusetts

We recommend using our Root Zone Fertilizer for transplanting.

Sandra S. – California

I purchased Dr Earth tomato, vegetable and herb fertilizer for my already potted tomato plants in one gallon containers. How much fertilizer do I use for the one gallon containers that they are in? I am not sure and don’t want to harm the plants. The package says 1/4 cup for five gallons of dirt.

Sandra S. – California

The great news is that our product will not burn your plants unless you plant directly in the bag. For a 1 gallon container, I recommend using 1/8 cup of fertilizer. Mix it in well with the soil and give it plenty of water. Then feed again in 60 days.

Fred F. – Georgia

Does Final Stop kill ants? Is it available as a concentrate?

Fred F. – Georgia

The final stop will kill ants, but only the ants that are sprayed directly, so it can be challenging using against ants.

Carolyn K. – New Mexico

Do I water my lawn before applying Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide? What part of the day is best to apply?

Carolyn K. – New Mexico

You do not need to water before applying our fungicide. It is recommended that you apply in the morning or evening, avoiding the warmest part of the day.

S. G.

I found the ratio of dry cups to square footage on the packaging, but how do I go about spreading it?  Should I use my hand? Some type of equipment?

S. G.

When you apply our fertilizer, you can use your hand or measuring cup, there is nothing toxic in any of our products so  you are safe to do this. Sprinkle it around your plants, scratch it into the soil and then water it very well.

Daniel C. – California

I have a bottle of Dr Earth Bloom Booster for application via my garden hose….can I use it on my vegetables including lettuce?

Daniel C. – California

For all vegetable gardens we recommend using our Home Grown Fertilizer. You could use the Bud & Bloom Booster but for best results, use the Home Grown Fertilizer.

Caroline

Today I bought a 16 oz bottle at Home Depot in New Hampshire. There is a date on a white sticker on the bottom of the bottle that reads: 1/09/19 what is this date? Is this expired product? What is the shelf life of this product?

Caroline

The sticker on the bottom is the Born On Date. This product does not expire.

Cody A. – California

Just curious if the insect control is safe with bees and ladybugs?

Cody A. – California

If you spray the bees and lady bugs directly, it will kill them. If you spray plants that they land on, it will not kill them. It must be sprayed directly onto them to kill them.

Shay E. – Texas

I recently bought your acid lovers fertilizer for my azaleas. Can I also use it on gardenias and roses? Do I just put 2 cups of the fertilizer around the base of the plant by mixing it into the soil? Do I mix it into a watering can? I’m confused as to what to do.

Shay E. – Texas

You can absolutely use the Acid Lovers Fertilizer for your Gardenias and Roses, they will love it! Yes, you would put the dry fertilizer around the base of the plants, lightly scratch it into the soil and then give it plenty of water. This will help mix it with the soil.

Bob W. – California

Which of your soil products should I use for planting strawberrys in pots?

Bob W. – California

I actually just planted Strawberries in my garden at home last week. I used the Home Grown Potting soil. This is one of my most favorite blends and has always given me and other consumers great success.

Darren S. – North Carolina

I have a potted 10’ bird of paradise I wanted to confirm that the exotic blend was the right fertilizer and if so how much should I use and how often?

Darren S. – North Carolina

For Birds of Paradise, I would use the Premium Gold All Purpose Fertilizer. This is a 4-4-4 fertilizer and Birds of Paradise prefer fertilizer that has a balanced NPK. In other exotic plants I would in fact recommend the Exotic Blend Fertilizer, but in this case, use the Premium Gold.

Bill R. – Montana

I planted window boxes and mixed in Dr Earths Rose and flower. When I next fertilizer per directions, do I use Bloom booster and Rose and flower or booster alone?

Bill R. – Montana

I would use the Dr. Earth Bud & Bloom booster exclusively. I really love the results this fertilizer gives.

Anne P. – Arizona

Is your soil safe for cats. I grow grass for my cats and I have discovered that most soils I buy I making them sick. Is yours safe?

Anne P. – Arizona

Our soils do not contain anything that is toxic, your cats can come into contact with our soils and have no issues.

Deanna D. – Alaska

Will your final stop weed and grass killer herbicide kill a vegetable garden? We are trying to treat the dirt to not have grass and weeds keep growing in the area we are planting our vegetable garden. We enlarged our garden area that was part of the grassy yard.

Deanna D. – Alaska

Our weed and Grass killer is a contact killer and is not systemic. If you spray your vegetables directly, you will kill them. If you spray around them, you will not kill them. Our product will not prevent weeds either, only will kill plants that are sprayed.

Caleb J. – Wisconsin

Wondering if the tomato, vegetable, herb fertilizer includes onions. I need high N and preferably keep P and K around same analysis for onions, like 10-10-10 or something. Just don’t know if there’s a better fertilizer option for onions specifically from you guys other than the tomato veggie and herb blend. I adore your products and your mission. I’ll never use anything other than Dr. Earth fertilizers again. It is truly amazing how much work is taken out of gardening organically when it all boils down to it.

Caleb J. – Wisconsin

You can absolutely use our Home Grown Fertilizer for your Onions. A lot of recommendations referring to a 10-10-10 or 20-20-20 are in reference to synthetic fertilizers. With organics you can reach the same results and even better results using a lower N-P-K. Especially with our product, since we do not use cheap manure fillers we have long lasting results. If you are growing green onions, you only need to fertilizer at time of planting, if you are growing bulb onions you should fertilizer every 45 days.

Susan T. – Oregon

We have several shrubs and trees which were installed by landscapers last fall prior to first frost and there was no reason to apply starter fertilizer because the growing season was ending. We cannot dig them up in order to mix the Dr Earth Root Zone Starter Fertilizer with soil, so can I dissolve it in water and then apply? If so, what is the dilution rate?

Susan T. – Oregon

You could make a tea out of the Starter Fertilizer if you would like, or you could sprinkle the dry product on the soil surface, lightly scratch it in, then water thoroughly. This would be my preferred application.

Blanca P. – California

We I need to replant a medium pot gardenia – I just purchased your Acid Lovers fertilizer but I wish to know the following:
How should I mix the peat moss from Miracle Grow and the Miracle Grow soil for flowers plus the acid lovers organic fertilizer, should it be 1/2, 1/2 and 2 tablespoons of the acid lovers? I am afraid to kill the plant as they are so delicate.

Blanca P. – California

If you are using Miracle Gro Soil in conjunction with our fertilizer, it will kill our organisms in our product and our product will not be effective. The yellowing of leaves are usually because of too much water, you may try going an extra day without watering if you have been watering regularly, this may help.

Brandon B. – California

We have used your products for a number of years and have finally found the one product, for our lawn, that we really like. It is your Super Natural Organic Premium Lawn Fertilizer (9-3-5). Unfortunately we seem to be unable to locate that product anymore. Has it been replaced with the “gold” lawn fertilizer that has a lower Nitrogen count? Our clay soil really needs the extra Nitrogen boost and microbes that this product gave us. What do you suggest?

Brandon B. – California

We discontinued the 9-3-5 Lawn Fertilizer a few years ago. What was found in the market was product we were selling through. This was replaced with Nitrogen Lawn Food.  It can be purchased from our website and can be ordered by garden centers that already carry Dr. Earth Products. This item was released this year, so many stores have not began carrying it quite yet, but it is available for them to order.

Rick H. – California

Do you have a suggestion for a fertilizer and a pesticide control that would be good for both tomatoes and roses outside? Also curious if you recommend different fertilizers through the season for Los Angeles zone?

Rick H. – California

I would recommend using the Yard & Garden Insect Killer Spray for both applications. If you want to get specific, I would recommend using Home Grown Fertilizer for your Vegetable Garden and I would use Bud & Bloom Booster for your flowering plants. I would use the same fertilizer throughout the year as well.

Annette M. – Michigan

Are your products safe for honeybees and other pollinators? I keep hives in my yard and want to be sure that they won’t be affected by applying lawn food?

Annette M. – Michigan

Our insect killer sprays will kill bees and other pollinators if they are sprayed directly. If you spray plants when these insects are not present and then they land on these plants later, it will not harm them.

Helen D. – Hawaii

Does Dr. Earth disease control fungicide work well on a sod lawn of seashore pascalum that is one month old?

Helen D. – Hawaii

Our fungicide will work on the majority of diseases that can be found in your lawn. With that said, I would need more information regarding the disease your lawn has at this time. It is very common with sod that it can be over watered, as you are supposed to water very frequently. If the soil below is not draining well enough, it could cause some yellowing and also disease. You may want to try cutting back the watering in the area that is having problems.

Bruce E. – California

For the last few years, I have been using Dr. Earth Natural Wonder- Organic- Premium Concentrate- Fruit Tree Fertilizer. 5-4-2. I cannot find this product anywhere. Did you stop making it?

Bruce E. – California

We still make our Natural Wonder Fruit Tree Fertilizer but we have changed the formula to a 5-5-2. We did this because we are constantly looking to improve our formulas and found this was a better blend.

Mac A. – California

I need to repot cymbidiums. I’m planning on a mix of shredded redwood, mixed with either medium bark or micro bark… maybe all three. Can you give me an idea of how big the pieces are with the micro and medium bark? If i’m not heading in the right direction…. do you have a better suggestion?

Mac A. – California

Our Micro Bark should be around 1/2 inch pieces and our Medium Bark is between 1″ and 1.5″.

K Ko

I have been looking to purchase your potting soil and noticed the cancer warning on the back, is there something in your soil that may be harmful to human health or am I misunderstanding this?

K Ko

We put the Prop65 warning on our packaging because all organic components include traces of lead. Far below the required limit that is required for the Prop65 warning, but we would much rather be transparent.

Susan O. – California

Which Dr. Earth product do I use to fertilize my lilacs?

Susan O. – California

I recommend using the Spectacular Bulb Food for Lilacs. They like a lot of phosphorus and minimal nitrogen.

Luke W – Iowa

We bought some of your plating/potting mix for the first time this year and have been very pleased with the results and would like to continue to use more of your products the rest of the year. We use a drip system for our garden and have the ability to put fertilizer and nutrients into the drip system. Question,

1. Can I add water to the dry fertilizer and then run it through my drip system? I’m not sure if it will dissolve down enough to work with the drip.
2. If your dry fertilizer will not dissolve down enough, I assume your liquid product would work?
3. We have expanded our garden this year and want to provide as much of our own food as possible, that being the background, which fertilizers (or packages) would you recommend to help make this happen, specifically to be able to run through our drip system?

Luke W – Iowa

You can use our dry fertilizer to make a tea, you would need to allow the dry fertilizer to sit in water for 24 hours, separate the solids from the tea and this would work in your drip system. Our liquid fertilizers would also work in your drip system. For edible gardens we recommend the Home Grown Fertilizer and for the final feeding before harvest, using the Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster fertilizer.

Jason D – New Hampshire

This year I have been using Dr. Earth fruit tree fertilizer on my trees. They are mulched, and I have been raking back the mulch, spreading the fertilizer, scratching it in to the soil, watering and putting the mulch back. Over the next night or two we have been getting a skunk (verified on camera) digging around in the mulch over the next night or two.

Have you had others with this experience? Do you know of a way to deter them from digging for the first few days? (I am assuming the smell of the fertilizer attracts them and the smell wears off)?

Jason D – New Hampshire

Animals can be drawn to our fertilizer as there is a fish aroma. The best way to combat this is to water it in a little more. Drench it even. Even if it is a little too much water for the plant/tree. It will recover in a few days max.

Evan

I try to grow my vegetables using organic products. My tomatoes seem to get bottom rot, which I’ve been told is due to not enough calcium. Does your Home Grown Tomato,Vegetable & Herb Fertilizer help with that?

Evan

Yes our Home Grown fertilizer contains about 7% calcium. This will definitely help with End Rot.

Bridget E – Arizona

I have a Tropic Pink guava fruit tree in Surprise Arizona and wanted to know the best fertilizer for this fruit tree. I also have a Lapkin sweet cherry tree and wanted to know the right fertilizer for that tree.

Bridget E – Arizona

The best fertilizer to use for both Guava and Cherries would be our Natural Wonder Fruit Tree Fertilizer. This is great for fruit production and builds strong roots that can support that fruit production.

Chris S – Texas

Is your Final Stop fungicide bee-safe? I want to use on my lawn, and my wife has many pollinator plants in the area, as well as butterfly plants (their food) and want to make sure they’re not harmed. Can this be sprayed very near where bees and butterflies are?

Chris S – Texas

If Bees are sprayed directly it will kill them. If they are not present during application and then fly into the area, they will not be harmed. Even if landing on plants that have been sprayed previously, it will not harm them.

Karen R

I have a bottle of Dr Earth pump tomato, vegetable and herb fertilizer.  The pump isn’t working any longer so I wanted to know how to measure out the fertilizer to pour it into the planters.  How much liquid is in one pump?

Karen R

For the liquid fertilizer, you would want to mix 2 ounces per gallon of water.

Mary K

Is your fertilizer good for my olive trees?

Mary K

You can fertilize your Olive Trees with our Natural Wonder Fruit Tree fertilizer. I would use about 1.5 cups per tree every 2-3 months. For your shopping convenience, you can purchase this from our website if you would like.

Ellen M

We are looking for an organic soil from the USA to grow vegetables in a pot on our deck. Which one would you suggest? We get southern exposure from morning to around noon. We will be growing tomato and red pepper plants.

Ellen M – Maryland

We recommend our Home Grown Vegetable Potting Soil for your container vegetables. You can buy it at your local garden centers or from our website.

Larry S

My garden center sold us Dr.Earth Premium Seed Starter Potting Mix with Kelp Flour.  After the seeds sprout, is it necessary to fertilize this soil mixture or is there enough in this soil mix so that we don’t have to add additional fertilizer until much later if at all?

Larry S

The Seed Starter mix has fertilizer in it already and would be fine for plants for about 30 days. After 30 days, you would need to fertilize again.

David J

I live next to a wetland area so I need to verify that your lawn fertilizer is safe to toads, frogs, ducks, fish, etc.

David J

We value our waterways very much and for this reason we do not put any phosphorus in our lawn food products. The run off of phosphorus is not good for our waterways.

JR

I am in South Florida and just planted an avocado tree a couple of weeks ago. I’m seeing holes in the leaves but can’t see any insects. Can final stop be used on avocado leaves and will it make it susceptible to sunburn?

JR

Our spray would deter what ever is eating away at your Avocado trees. If they are not present at the time of application though, it is unlikely to kill them.

Taylor T

Hi, I am very interested in your product and can’t find a supplier in Canada. Do you ship to Canada?

Taylor T

You should be able to purchase our items on Amazon.com and have them shipped to Canada.

Courtney P

I am needing a 20-20-20 organic fertilizer for my weeping willow I planted last year. Is there a product of yours that you can recommend?

Courtney P

We do not offer a 20-20-20 fertilizer. That would be challenging to hit those numbers organically. We do offer a 4-4-4 Premium Gold All Purpose fertilizer which would be comparable as all of the nutrients would be available to your plants as opposed to nutrients washing through the soil with a synthetic fertilizer.

Mark K

Hi, I’m looking for high quality vegetable garden soil and was looking at your ‘Home Grown product. On there it says there is no chicken manure. What is wrong with Chicken Manure?

Mark K

Please find the link below to an article on chicken manure. If you should have any other questions, I would be happy to help.
https://drearth.com/chicken-manure-in-organic-fertilizers-and-soils-can-you-say-cheap-cheap/

Eric W

I have 4 avocado trees in large wine barrel pots.  They are about 6 foot tall.  Since they are in pots instead of in the ground, should I fertilize them every 2 months instead of every 3 months?  I am using your 5-5-2 product.

Eric W

One great feature of our fertilizer is that it does not contain nutrient sources that will burn. It is a slow release fertilizer. You can absolutely apply the fertilizer every 2 months for container trees.

Mike J.

I noticed the Home Grown has calcium in the analysis and many others including the All Purpose do not have calcium listed in the analysis.  Basically, I just wanted to confirm that calcium or other micro elements are not in the product if it’s not in the analysis so I can prepare.

Mike J

The other fertilizers do contain a similar amount of Sulfur and Calcium but we do not claim them on all of the labels.

Melissa

Do your products contain any tree nuts, peanuts or coconut? We have allergies to these so want to make sure there is no cross contamination.  I’m interested in fertilizer and soil to plant some succulents and also start our own garden for vegetables and fruits.

Melissa

We do use any nut products in any of our blends. With our soil products, we use packaging facilities around the country and they may or may not have nut products in their yards.

Donica A – Chewy

What is the water to spray bottle ratio?

Donica A – Chewy

Please advise the customer that the ratio is 2 ounces per gallon of water.

Chad B

I bought the Organic Pump & Grow All Purpose Plant Food at Home Depot and used it on many of my plants at home (many of which have been living in their pots for several years), unfortunately every plant that received the plant food began to develop a mold either on the plant itself or on top of the soil. Not knowing what kind of mold this was or whether or not it was harmful to the plant I decided to remove the plants from the soil and re pot them in new soil. Please let me know your thoughts and if there is something you’d like to do to help with my situation.

Chad B

This mold is nothing to worry about, you can lightly mix it into the soil and it will go away. When applying our liquid fertilizer it is important to water in well after applying. You can of course water anytime within the 24 hours after applying the fertilizer, but allowing the water to mix it into the soil is important. If even after watering, this happens, it is not harmful and could be mixed into the soil.

Micki K

Question:  the instructions for how much Fruit Tree Fertilizer to add assumes the trees are in the ground.  I have a plum tree – trunk diameter 5″ in a container.  According to your instructions I should add 5 cups. Seems rather excessive. How much should I add, and how often?

Micki K

If measuring in a straight line passing from side to side through the center of a trunk and if that distance is 5″, then this measurement would be correct. You could cut this application in half if you would like. Just monitor the trees health about 30 days from now and see how it is reacting. It may require another feeding. Scratch this fertilizer into the top inch or two of soil and water very well.

Alissa

I am looking to grow a hydroponic garden, but am looking for a safe organic fertilizer. I was just wondering if your fertilizers can be used for hydroponics or are the just for soil?

Alissa

You could use our fertilizer in a hydroponics system, if you first make a tea out of it. You would make a tea by adding one cup of dry fertilizer per gallon of water.

Alexandra

Is the vegetarian potting soil also vegan?

Alexandra

Yes.

Joseph – Louisiana

What product do you recommended for banana plants. Do you need different products for the growing stage and fruit production?

Joseph – Louisiana

You can use our Home Grown Fertilizer in the beginning of the growing season and then finish the season with the Fruit Tree Fertilizer. This would be a great combo of nutrients.

Pamela – California

My husband sprayed your Rose & Flower insect Killer on our Bell Pepper plants because it’s all we had for aphids. Can we eat the bell peppers now?

Pamela – California

You can eat them immediately after spraying. Just like anything you bring inside, we do recommend you rinse them off but they are safe too consume.

Megan

Hello, I bought Dr. Earth lawn fertilizer last year and forgot to use it. Does it expire? There is a sticker on the bottom that says 6/2/18. Just wondering if it would still be beneficial to use on my lawn.

Megan

No, our liquid fertilizers do not expire. They are fine to use many years after purchase. Please be sure to shake this product very well, then shake again to be sure it is mixed up properly inside of the bottle.

Richard – New Jersey

Is Dr. Earth Final Stop Fungicide safe for Hemlock evergreens?
Will it harm wildlife?
Safe for my dogs to be around after it dries?

Richard – New Jersey

Yes, you may use the Dr. Earth Fungicide on Hemlock Evergreens. Please apply in the morning or evening to avoid spraying when it is the hottest part of the day. Your pets can be present during application, or anytime after. This product is essential Oils based and safe around pets when the product is wet or dry. We do not recommend allowing them to drink it obviously but its non-toxic.

Michelle – California

Can I spray Dr. Earth Final Stop Vegetable Garden Insect Killer directly on my plants?

Michelle – California

You can definitely spray your plants directly, even on the day of harvest. There is nothing toxic about our sprays but lightly rinse them off before consuming, as the oils may have a slightly bitter taste on the surface of your vegetables.

Matt

I have used your lawn fertilizer for years. Typically I could order it through Amazon or Home Depot. Now I can’t find it anywhere! Could you tell me if this will be available again or if we can by directly from you?

Matt

Our lawn fertilizer is being redeveloped and should release early fall. We are very excited about this new product and should be even better than the previous formulation.

James – Florida

I am growing a cantaloupe from a seed in a large pot. the vine is about 4 feet long. I want to know what fertilizer is best to use as it is growing and what/when to transition to a flowering/fruiting fertilizer.

James – Florida

I would recommend using the Bud & Bloom Booster Fertilizer about 6 – 8 weeks before harvest. It might be too late depending on when you planted them. They typically are ready for harvest within 90-100 days (give or take depending on species). My recommendation for planting would be to Fertilize with Dr. Earth Fruit Tree Fertilizer 5-5-2 at time of planting (unless starting from seeds, then fertilizer in 2-3 weeks). Then about 8 weeks later transition to Dr. Earth Bud & Bloom Booster 3-9-4.

Thomas – California

What is your best product to control bugs in St. Augustine grass?

Thomas – California

I would use our Dr. Earth Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer Spray. This is a great all around insect killer spray. I would recommend using it once every other day until you have applied 3 times. Organic insect killers tend to take a little more to kill, but pets and people can go out immediately after application.

Kathy – Illinois

I would like to apply mulch beneath trees after spraying the weed and grass killer. Other than allowing the spray to dry, is it okay to mulch immediately?

Kathy – Illinois

You can definitely put down mulch when ever you would like after applying our weed killer. There would not be any issues with that at all.

Anne – Texas

I may have missed this on the package but is Acid Lovers fertilizer appropriate for geraniums and Boston ferns? I had bottom end-rot on my tomatoes this spring and your tomato treatment cured it beautifully! Now, I have a sickly potted year-old geranium that needs a Dr. Earth miracle!!

Anne – Texas

You can definitely use our Acid Lovers Fertilizer for Geraniums and Boston Ferns. You can apply about 1/8 of  a cup per plant, and do you best to work it into the soil and water it in.

Johann – Alabama

We just started using your Pure Gold fertilizer and I can’t keep my dogs away from the plants. Is it safe if they ingest?

Johann – Alabama

There is nothing toxic in our fertilizer. With that said, we recommend that you do not let your pets get into the product or the soil with the product in it. It can cause an upset stomach simply because their bodies do not know how to digest it.

Susan – Florida

Does your organic pump and grow fertilizer and plant food for tomatoes, vegetables, and herbs expire? What is the date on the bottom of the bottle mean?

Susan – Florida

Our liquid fertilizers do not expire. The date on the bottom of the bottle is the date the product was bottled at our facility.

O – California

I am a medical patient and I’m looking to use the all purpose amendment and the flower girl for my medicine. I would like to know what would be the recommended dosage?

O – California

Those are two great fertilizer options for Medical Cannabis. The amount to use would depend on the setting you are growing in. The best rule of thumb with our product is about a 1 cup per 5 gallons of soil, You could use as much as a quarter cup per gallon of soil if you chose to. Our fertilizer does not burn plants like some other options might, so you won’t have to worry about that.

Marie

How much compost starter should I sprinkle on the kitchen scraps I just put in the composter?

Marie

use 1 cup per 5 gallons of materials

Melody – Massachusetts

Is your disease control fungicide harmful to insects?

Melody – Massachusetts

It could harm insects is they are sprayed directly. If you have beneficial insects present at the time of spraying, I would wait until they are less active in that area.

Jeff – Oregon

I have earwigs and pillbugs that I’d like to get rid of, so bought Dr Earth Final Stop Yard and Garden Insect Killer. But I also have earthworms in my raised bed, which I don’t want to kill off. Is this product safe for that?

Jeff – Oregon

If you do a soil drench (mix the solution with water and pour it around your plants) this could have a negative effect on earthworms. It does require complete saturation to kill insects and earthworms are extremely resilient so it would take some aggressive application to kill them. It may deter them from the area for a small period of time. In summary, I would personally do a light soil drench, and take care of the negative pests, and give the earthworms about a week to come back to that area again.

Chris – South Carolina

When using a top dress method, what do you recommend the water PH to be for the soil and for coco?

Chris – South Carolina

As long as you on monitoring and correcting your soil pH. I don’t know that I would focus on water pH. You would probably want your pH to be between 5.5 and 6.5 depending on which part of the growth phase you are in.

Daniel – Mississippi

Does any particular one of your products have a complete set of macro and micro nutrients?

Daniel – Mississippi

While we do not claim any Micro Nutrients or all of the Macro Nutrients on our packaging they are present in each one of our blends. They can vary depending on each lot of product and for that reason we do not claim them.

Scott – Oregon

I want to use the Dr Earth Liquid Lawn Fertilizer with my own hose end spray attachment.
What is the number of ounces per gallon of water that you recommend?

Scott – Oregon

You can use 2 ounces of fertilizer per gallon of water to get the correct dilution.

Holly – Massachusetts

I purchased Dr Earth Vegetable Garden Insect Killer Concentrate, but now that I need it, my hose has died and I can’t afford to buy another one. I would like to be able to use the Concentrate as RTU by mixing it in a bottle with some water. The bottle I would like to use is 32 ounces. How much concentrate would I need to add to make a ready-to-use mixture?

Holly – Massachusetts

You can use 2 ounces of fertilizer per gallon of water.

Lisa – Ohio

Can I use your Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer on my petunias?

Lisa – Ohio

Yes, you can use the insect killer spray on your petunias, please only apply in the cooler parts of the day, either the morning or evening. This will reduce the likely hood of burning.

Kevin – New York

Will Dr. Earth Final Stop Vegetable Garden organic insect killer work on Japanese beetles?

Kevin – New York

You can kill Japanese Beatles with our insect killer spray, but you must apply it heavily to them and you will only kill those that you spray directly.

Lana – Chicago

Wondering how long your liquid concentrate all purpose fertilizer lasts? I’ve had this for about a year.

Lana – Chicago

It is fine and last up to 5 years without any issues. Apply it in great health and thank you for your support.

Jon

I’m trying to use your pump and grow tomato vegetable & herb fertilizer in a little hydroponic aero garden and keep over fertilizing. Do you have any suggested amounts? It holds about 2 gallons of water.

Jon

I would use 8 pumps per 2 gallons of water and feed and water as you normally do.

Pearl – Washington

Wondering how long your liquid concentrate all purpose fertilizer lasts? I’ve had this for about a year.

Pearl – Washington

It is fine and last up to 5 years without any issues. Apply it in great health and thank you for your support.

Judy – California

In researching the best formula for guava trees, I’ve read that a 6-6-6 fertilizer is most ideal for it to yield fruit, but have noticed that the combination doesn’t seem very common, even at Home Depot. May I ask which would be the best substitution?

Judy – California

I would recommend our Premium Gold all purpose fertilizer 4-4-4 as it is the closest to the 6-6-6 you are looking for.

Sue – Washington

I understand gardenia need acid and I also have hibiscus and angel trumpets. All are in pots. What would you suggest?

Sue – Washington

I would simply use our “Acid Lovers” fertilizer and soil if you can find it locally.

Bill

I had purchased the Final Stop® Disease Control Fungicide the bottle tells me 2-oz per gallon of water but doesn’t tell me how often? Is there any recommended application i should go by?

Bill

The best effects will result in a dosage every three weeks, if you get an infestation, you can spray once every three days,..Do not spray in direct sun,.. only spray early in the morning, or late in the afternoon for best results.

Jen – Utah

I have a yard full of healthy wild birds, bees, butterflies, earthworms, etc. Will Dr Earth lawn fertilizer hurt any of them? Is your product safe to use around them?

Jen – Utah

Our lawn fertilizer is completely safe to use around all life in the garden and will not harm them in any way.

T.J. – Pennsylvania

What is the best product for preventing squash bugs?

T.J. – Pennsylvania

There is not an organic way to to stop them, you would need a chemical systemic. The best method is to keep the soil very healthy so the plant can defend itself naturally with thick cell walls and protect itself. If you do get an infestation in the future. We make an all purpose insect killer called “Final Stop Yard and Garden Insect Killer”

Phyllis

I ordered the Dr. Earth Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer, not realizing it was a hose end sprayer. I would like to use the contents as a concentrate and mix it with water so I can use it in a spray bottle. Could you give me the ratio of Dr. Earth to water for this means of application?

Phyllis

Please use 4 ounces per gallon of water. Please make sure you reseal the bottle so it does not leak and children do not have access to it.

Jeannie – Nevada

I just bought some liquid fertilizer for my fruit trees and I’m a little confused. Do I spray this on the leaves and blossoms or on the ground underneath?

Jeannie – Nevada

Spray it on the ground at the base of the tree and water it in a little afterwards to drive it down into the soil.

Sue – Oregon

I have several trays of little seedlings that are now about 2″ high and I believe it’s time to start feeding them before transplanting. Which of your liquid formulas should I use and how often should I apply it? I’m already using your house plant food – would that work?

Sue – Oregon

The houseplant food will work great. Use 2 ounces per gallon of water, then use the water to feed the young plants, but do not feed the plants until the seeds have actually sprouted and have their first set of leaves.

Thad – Washington

I heard your new formula for ‘Life’ should be available by mid April. Where can I find it?

Thad – Washington

I am sorry to say that Life was a 2020 release and will not be available for at least 6 more months. Packaging design and registrations are still in the works, but there are a lot of hot deals on the old life formula on Amazon.

Ian – Pennsylvania

I just used the organic pump and grow fertilizer on my plants and after a couple days there’s mold growing at the base where I applied on all my plants?

Ian – Pennsylvania

I suspect you are growing indoors as this is usually when mold shows up due to organics and moisture combined, but no worries, its common to see this and it is harmless, allow the soil to dry out for a couple of day and it should disappear naturally, for future reference, moisture and shade, will always cause mold in any growing environment. Try to give them some direct sun if possible. If not, keep an eye on the dampness of the soil, less damp, means less mold, think of a home and the basement! Same metaphor!

Jean – New Jersey

I used your weed spray product on weeds within my pavers. Now there appears to be oily spots where I sprayed. How do I get rid of those spots?

Jean – New Jersey

If the bricks have never been water sealed any oil can and will leave a glossy stain for a while, but they always go away with time, from sun and water. If you do not want to wait, simply use some dish-washing detergent and a dish brush with water and it will clean it up.Remember these oils are simply essential oils that are cosmetic grade, really safe.

Where can I find your products?

Linda T. – Oklahoma

Our products can typically be found at local garden centers, Home Depot, some items are also available on Amazon.com. Not all items are available at all locations so please call ahead before driving to that store.

Emily N. – Iowa

Do you use any chicken manure in your products?

Emily N. – Iowa

We do not use chicken manure in any of our products because we have found that Fish Bone Meal is a higher quality ingredient that provides a longer lasting source of Nitrogen as well as an abundance of other nutrients.

Steve P. – California

If I spray weeds in my lawn with your weed and grass killer spray, will I also kill my grass?

Steve P. – California

Yes, our weed killer is non-selective. This means, any foliage, grass or weed that is sprayed will be burned and will die.

Julie K. – Wisconsin

I used to get your soils at Home Depot, I can not find them there anymore. Help, I love and need your soil!

Julie K. – Wisconsin

I appreciate your passion and I am sorry to hear you are unable to find our soil. You should check with your local garden center for our soil. If they do not have it stocked, they might be able to order it for you.

Ryan S. – Kentucky

What is digested food materials? This ingredient is listed on your liquid fertilizers.

Ryan S. – Kentucky

Digested food materials is a general way to saying produce that is recycled instead of put into our dumps. Many grocery stores have to throw out fruits, fish & vegetables that are not in perfect condition. That is where we come in, we recycle this produce and turn it into a compost tea, now known as our liquid fertilizers.
