What does 4-4-4 indicate? Is that a measure of nitrogen, potassium, etc.? It doesn’t seem to be high enough quantities of any ingredients.

The 4-4-4 is a NPK= Nitrogen(N)-Phosphorus(P)-Potassium (K) always in that order for any fertilizer whether it is synthetic or organic. Organic fertilizers are always lower numbers than synthetic fertilizers. Please check our 2017 Gardening Guide pages 31, 26, 27. A lot of good info that will help you better understand the way they work.

Janine V. – California
I just applied Dr. Earth Fruit Tree Fertilizer for citrus to my potted Meyer lemon tree. The leaves had been variegated, yellowing but with green veins. It looks like that may be due to Magnesium, Iron, and Manganese deficiency. How long should I expect the fertilizer to take to improve the appearance of the leaves, and how do I know if I need to apply more?
Janine V. – California
Our dry fertilizers usually take about 20 days to break down, our liquids fertilizers about 10 days. You could start seeing improvements on deficiencies within those days. You would apply every 2 month on our dry during the growing season and every 2 weeks of our liquid.

I live in Austin, TX where temps are still high – mornings near 80 and daytime high’s are 100+. It’s time to apply my Dr Earth hose end Lawn Fertilizer and the label says early morning/after 4pm application but should I wait for the cooler 70-90 degree cooler days predicted in September?

Dennis R. – New York
I purchased some of your fertilizers a few years ago and was really happy with them. I was looking into purchasing again, but I am disappointed to find that you changed the formula in your organic liquid fertilizers. I remember seeing an assortment of extra ingredients such as humic acid, aloe vera, prebiotic blend, molasses, etc.. Are they still in these fertilizers and you just changed the label or do these fertilizers just contain the bare elements?
Dennis R. – New York
Yes, our liquid fertilizers did have a formula change, with “Digested food byproduct”. Our liquid fertilizer concentrates reach the highest level of sustainability of any fertilizer in the world! This is accomplished by utilizing break through science, technology, and enzymes to convert human grade organic food scraps from grocery stores into highly effective premium liquid fertilizers. It is estimated that grocery stores in the United States discard about 10% of their food inventory every single week, resulting in more than 133 billion pounds of food being discarded annually. Food waste is one of America’s largest environmental challenges, accounting for roughly one-fifth of the solid waste in landfills nationwide. But there is a way to take what would have been food waste from the supermarket industry and convert it into renewable energy for plants in the form of carbon-rich fertilizer. Our carbon-rich liquid fertilizers are packed with Amino Acids, Fulvic Acid, Micronutrients, and Macronutrients. University studies and field trials strongly suggest that these liquid fertilizers provide exceptional results. Upcycling large volumes of would-be food waste into premium, organic fertilizer has many benefits and reduces the carbon footprint of the grocery-store-to-landfill cycle. The dream of a zero-waste, modern society is finally taking shape, and real-world problems are being solved with bold, innovative solutions. Everything you would feed your family, can be used to feed plants, saving the world and make it a better place at the same time.

Is there an expiration date for the 5-5-5 all purpose fertilizer? My bag is 3 years old.
Renee S.
It should be fine. There is a expiration date mainly for the Trubiotic inside. The fertilizer will still provide nutrients.
Sheri W. – Maryland
Will your insect kill get rid of bagworms?
Sheri W. – Maryland
Our Final Stop Insect killers will control bagworms (the eggs). Depending on size it will kill the small ones, sometimes picking the big ones off then spraying the plants to kill the eggs. That is a good reason to use our Final Stop Insect Killers as a preventative and spray your plants to kill eggs of insects you do not see yet is much easier to get rid of at those stages of the bag worms life.
Ben W. – Illinois
Can I use your non selective herbicide to clear out weeds and then later plant vegetable seeds? Does it only work for a while and then decompose safely?
Ben W. – Illinois
Our Final Stop Weed & Grass Killer will not affect your soil, so you can plant your garden as soon as the weeds and grasses have died just remove dead vegetation. Our product is made of 100% Organic essential oils. Shake well for maximum control.
Steve D – Wisconsin
I am wanting to buy your soil and compost. I see you make your products with food. I have allergies to eggs, tree nuts, and peanuts. I’m assuming those are all items that are put into your mixes?
Steve D – Wisconsin
While we do not put any nut products or egg in our blends, it is a challenge to guarantee that the facilities that fill our bags are complete nut free.
Karin L – Indiana
Just found your site and see many of the items I need, but not sure on what product would be best for my lilacs. The soil ph is good but apparently is lacking nutrients. Would you please advise on what would be best?
Karin L – Indiana
You can use our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster now for your lilac and then next spring use our Total Advantage Rose & Flower.
Amy A.
I purchased a bottle of the home grown organic pump & grow fertilizer today at Lowe’s. Is the date sticker on the bottom of the bottle an expiration or production date? I tried to research it but I’m coming up empty handed. The date is expired so I’m hoping it’s a manufacter production date.
Amy A.
The sticker with the date on the bottom of our Pump & Grow fertilizers are the Born on Date they do not expire.
Michael P. – California
I was looking for the words “pet friendly” on your product lines. Is a lawn immediately safe for cats, dogs, and birds after spraying this product?
Michael P. – California
Our Super Natural Liquid Lawn Food is completely safe for pets and people to be on the grass right after you spray. I would suggest you wait for it to dry before going on the lawn. Our liquid fertilizers are made of 100% Organic whole food! No toxic, synthetic chemicals.
Ron B. – California
How long is the ‘shelf life’ of Flower Girl Bud and Bloom Booster tea? I made a gallon about 4 weeks ago and I am ready to feed my plants but I am wondering if it will still be effective after sitting in my indoor office for four weeks in a reclaimed orange juice gallon container.
Ron B. – California
One of the whole key component of making a compost tea, is brewing microbes (living organisms), so right after 24 hours it should be used for the maximum results. That’s when you will have the most microbes alive. When they sit with no air/oxygen they die off. The fertilizer tea is still good in what you have them in but the microbe activity is no longer there. If you want to make a tea that you do not have to use right away invest in a perpetual tea brewer.
Amy C. – Texas
I am looking for clean products to start some plants inside a apartment and with limited spaced outdoors for pots, hanging plants, and a raised bed. Our plan is to transplant when we move in May. It has been overwhelming to search for clean soil, clean nutrients, etc. as we get started on this journey. Looking for soil free of Round up and harmful chemicals. Our first project is a avocado plant that we have already started in a glass of water, and a lemon seed is just getting under way. Can you recommend the soil, fertilizer, and/or nutrients that we can use for veggies, fruit, the 2 tree seeds we started? Any suggested insect deterrent for the Houston area that we might need?
Amy C. – Texas
You came to the right company for Pure Clean Soils, fertilizers and pest controls. All of our products are 100% Organic and NON-GMO and only use premium ingredients, (No manures!) When your avocado and lemon trees are ready for transplant to a container (pots) use our Exotic Blend Potting soil and fertilize with our Natural Wonder Fruit Tree Dry fertilizer. And for your Veggies use our Pot Of Gold Potting Soil and use our Home Grown Tomato, Vegetable & Herb Dry fertilizer.

Dan J. – Florida
Dr Earth Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide Concentrate – what are the instructions regarding timing prior to rain?
Dan J. – Florida
Rain will effect the application and should be on the plant for at least 16 or more hours prior to the rain and re-apply after the rain. Can be use daily, or every other day. Safe to use up to the day of harvest if spraying on edibles. Shake well before and during use for maximum control.
Erica F. – New Jersey
I have two plumeria cuttings that need to be planted ASAP (actually one cutting and one seedling that’s already rooted). The grower that I purchased them from stated in their directions to plant them in potting soil WITHOUT fertilizer (the all caps was part of their instructions). Does the Dr. Earth Pot of Gold Organic Potting Soil have fertilizer in it? If so, do you have a potting soil that does not? I really want these plumeria to do well and finding the right soil is that first step.
Erica F. – New Jersey
Our Pot of Gold Potting Soil does contain amendments/fertilizer but your plumerias will be fine in our mix and many growers and gardeners have use our soils with no issue. We use no synthetic fertilizers only 100% Organic amendments found in nature. And when you are ready for fertilizer our Exotic Blend dry fertilizer is ideal for your plumerias.

Total Advantage will help with nourishment on your zucchini plants, but we do recommend our Home Grown Tomato, Vegetable & Herb fertilizer as it has more calcium for faster growing veggies.
Russell V. – Texas
The instructions on your Tomato, Vegetable and Herb fertilizer uses cups for measurements, based on the type of vegetable. Can you please tell me how many cups are in a 12 pound bag?

Sandra A. – California
Why does your the bottle of your Vegetable & Herb Liquid Fertilizer have the P65 Warning on it? Does this plastic or the liquid fertilizer contain cancer?
Sandra A. – California
Everything we make at Dr. Earth is 100% organic. Prop 65 is listed on all of our products. The reason we do this is because all organic ingredients contain traces of lead and other metals that are listed under Prop 65. We put this marking on our products to be transparent, even though the level of lead in our products is far lower than the requirements by Prop 65. All our fertilizers and soils are safe.
Diane G. – New York

Ben T. – Colorado

Lori D. – New Hampshire
I purchased the succulent and cactus pump and grow. I saw a lot of reviews online stating it produces mold. I thought maybe they weren’t using the product correctly. I fertilized 3 succulents. I pumped it in and watered it immediately making sure none sat on top. 2 days later there was mold on my dirt.
Lori D. – New Hampshire
No worries! What you are seeing is mycelium / mycorrhizae and that is a good thing that means your soil is alive! It is not bad mold, Just scratch it into the soil.
Henry F. – New Jersey

Henry F. – New Jersey
Our Final Stop Weed & Grass Killer will kill Dallis grass, but make sure you are not using it on your lawn as it will kill your lawn as well. Saskia M. – California
Our Barks and mulches are not certified organic, but are as natural as you can get! They are not sprayed with any toxic chemicals. I would suggest our Natural Choice All Purpose Compost, that you can use that is 100% Organic and will help to improve your soil.
Jaclyn H. – Ohio
We just had a good amount of rain. It’s also supposed to rain for the next few days. However, I would like to use the final stop Vegetable Garden insecticide. Is it ok to apply to wet foliage?
Jaclyn H. – Ohio
I suggest to let the rain pass, It will be more effective. As our product is a contact kill spray.
Lauren H.
My lawn has a bunch of mushrooms all over it. I read online a nitrogen rich fertilizer with slow release will help with that. Is that true and is it pet safe?
Lauren H.
Yes, a nitrogen rich fertilizer will help but there are other factors to consider, like temperatures, humidity, dampness, also de-thatching the lawn will help reduce mushrooms. Our Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide can be used after removing the mushrooms to spray so that the mushroom spores do not germinate. And all our products are people & pet safe.
Peter B. – Oregon
What is the most effective way to eradicate chinch bugs in lawn?
Peter B. – Oregon
Our Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer will work to control/kill chinch bugs, but what will help also is to de-thatch your lawn and spraying our Final Stop will help to control bugs.

Olivia H. – Oregon
Is the date on the bottom of my bottle an expiration date? Yesterday I went to home depot and bought Dr. Earths succulent pump & grow (cactus & succulent plant food). When I got home and started using it I saw a white sticker on the bottom of the bottle with a date reading ‘3/27/20’. I am assuming this is an expiration date and that it is old, and that home depot did not realize and pull it off the shelf. Before going to the trouble to return it and hopefully exchange it for another bottle, I wanted to make sure this is infact and expiration/use by date, and not the date it was made.
Olivia H. – Oregon
The date on the bottom is our born on date. Our product does not expire. Tthat being said, if not properly stored it will go bad, so keep out of extreme heat and extreme cold.
Sally Rose W. – Washington
How often should I spray my roses with your Final Stop Disease Control? My Chicago Peace is heavily infected with black spot this year.
Sally Rose W. – Washington
Make sure you shake well before and during use for maximum control and repeat as often as necessary, every couple of days until you see improvement.
Chris B. – New York
First off, I love your products. I was wondering if you could give me some insight on how to use your dry amendments. I am growing medical marijuana. I have the old version of the veg, the old version of bloom and the new version of all purpose. I am using a pro mix hp medium and add in some more perlite and mushroom compost. I’m not sure on the ratios to use of each product, and want to produce the best medicine I can for myself. If you could break down for veg and bloom ratios that would be great? Should I mix it all and let it cook or do I mix it and plant right in it?
Chris B. – New York
You can scratch it into the soil or sprinkle on the soil and cover with compost or potting soil. For the veg and bloom use 1/2 cup for every 5 gallons of soil. You can also make our fertilizer tea (recipe on back of bag). For optimizing oil & terpene production I also recommend our liquid fertilizers that you can use in-conjunction with our dry amendments.
Cynthia T. – Oregon
If I used Final Stop Weed and Grass Killer, can I roll out new grass in the area? If so, how long should I wait?
Cynthia T. – Oregon
Once the weeds or any vegetation is dead and dry remove and roll out the new grass, It does not affect your soil.
Pam C. – South Carolina
Would it be ok to use bud & bloom booster to mix in the soil of my raised bed with some compost before I plant my collard seedlings this fall? Or would it be better to save that for the azaleas and star jasmine in the early spring?
Pam C. – South Carolina
I would use the bud & bloom on your flowers and use our Home Grown Tomato, Vegetable & Herbs on your collard seedlings as they do not need that amount of phosphorus and would serve you better to use it on flowering plants. Any flowering plant that you have in your garden, use the Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster during the summer.
Lynda S. – Arkansas
Final Stop appears to kill a myriad of insects. Is it going to kill my beneficial ones also…..butterflies, bees, etc., earthworms?
Lynda S. – Arkansas
Our Final Stop Insecticides are safe for bees, all pollinators and will not harm earthworms. We suggest that you spray early AM when pollinators are not active. Our Insecticides are made of 100% Organic essential oils. Shake well before and during use for maximum control.

Mary I. – Washington
I purchased the cactus and succulent soil mix. I noticed that white mushrooms started blooming whenever I water them. I was wondering if this was dangerous for my plants or me?
Mary I. – Washington
No worries, that actually is a good sign, your soil is alive! It is not dangerous for you or your plants. Just scratch them into the soil, remove or just leave alone.
Raymond G. – Missouri
Do I need to buffer coco coir with calmag before I use Dr. Earth dry amendments? I rehydrated a brick of coco bliss, washed the peat out of it, and will be growing medical marijuana.
Raymond G. – Missouri
No need to buffer coco coir with calmag before using our dry amendments. I suggest our Home Grown 4-6-3 for Veg and Flower Girl 3-9-4 for flowering. The Home Grown has plenty of calcium. Our dry amendments all have our Trubiotic inside. We are 100% premium organic. You might want to also consider some of our other products that can help achieve great oil & terpene production.
Cynthia F. – Pennsylvania
WI have been using Dr. Earth products for a number of years with great success…I am a fan! I wonder if one of your fertilizers is especially recommended to promote a long flowering season for evening primrose and balloon flower perennials. Which product do you recommend for hydrangeas, rhododendrons and peonies to promote flowering and when is the best time to fertilize these plants?
Cynthia F. – Pennsylvania
Our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster dry fertilizer is great for the summertime – giving those plants the phosphorus they need for the heat. It helps keep the root zone healthy. For your hydrangeas, rhododendrons and peonies you can use Flower Girl on them as well in the summer. Then in spring use Acid Lover dry fertilizer as they thrive in acidic soil.
Carol E. – New Jersey

Desiree S. – Ohio
Do you have a compost or potting mix that is free from animal by-products? I’m a vegetarian, trying to covert to making soil blocks for seed starting. Need either compost (for a homemade recipe) or a mix that would hold up to the process.
Desiree S. – Ohio
Yes, we have our Free Vegetarian Potting soil. This is the only soil mix that we make that has no animal by-products.
lan T. – Minnesota
What is the difference between all purpose potting soil and all purpose planting mix?
lan T. – Minnesota
The difference between planting mix & potting soil is one is for containers and the planting mix is used in-ground.
Andrew E. – New York
I noticed that you have the pump and spray for houseplants, but this product does not seem to have the Trubiotic blend which I feel makes your product so special. I also note that the exotic blend which I think would be the best (looking for your input) does not have a mix rate for indoor plants? Is this blend the best choice for houseplants and for a large in a well lit indoor atrium?
Andrew E. – New York
Lou might want to consider our Pure Gold dry fertilizer. It is pelletized “Throw & Go” 2-2-2 and has our Trubiotic inside that your house plant and 20′ ficus tree will enjoy and thrive with and all you have to do is sprinkle around the base of your plants and water (no need to mix in soil or scratch into soil). Our liquids work great, but you are correct they do not contain our Trubiotic inside, but for healthy soils it is great fertilizer, some like to add our dry once to twice a year and use our liquid on a regular basis as it is easier to apply.
Melanie P. – California
I am purchasing your cactus/succulent soil to do transplants in pots. Would Life fertilizer be a good choice to use for later feeding or mix in with soil during transplanting?
Melanie P. – California
Life would be a great choice for you to use now and later. Life fertilizer is a pelletized “Throw & Go” which you do not need to scratch into the soil, you can, but not required. And you can use Life on everything cactus, succulents, house plants, flowers, vegetables and fruit trees.
Theodore B. – New York
I have the 32 oz. Final Stop, to be attached to a garden hose to spray. Would rather mix with water in a 32 oz. spray bottle, for pin point spraying, what with kids and pets always around.
Please give me a ratio, how many ounces of Final Stop to 1 gallon of water.
Theodore B. – New York
You can dilute 2 oz per gallon of water. Shake well before and during use for maximum control.
Chris V. – California
I have crab grass invading our agapanthas. The weed is intertwined with the plants, and extends out the top. I’d like to use Final Stop Weed & Grass Herbicide to kill the crab grass, but I wonder about the impact on the agapantha?
Chris V. – California
We do not recommend using our Final Stop Weed & Grass Killer as it will kill most all vegetation. If you can use it without it getting on your agapantha then have at it, but this product contains citric acid and cinnamon and clove oil which burn plants and grasses.
David M. – California
Is Dr Earth Final Stop safe for bees and hummingbirds?

Todd S. – Maine
I know dry Flower Girl bag has an expiration date, but is that just for the microbes, bacteria, mycos, etc? Or do the nutrients degrade as well?
Todd S. – Maine
Yes, it is mainly for the Trubiotic inside, but if it has not been open and kept in a fair environment (extreme heat/cold), they will last for years past that date.
John S. – Wisconsin
Should the final stop fungicide be watered in when applying to lawn?
John S. – Wisconsin

Cathy L. – Tennessee

I’m using Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster for the first time on two cannabis plants. I was wondering if you could let me know how often I should be applying a top dress?
Josh
If you are outdoor apply every other month. If indoor apply monthly. In conjunction with applying it as a top dress, you can also make our fertilizer tea (recipe on the back of bag). This will help with oil & terpene production and can apply weekly or every other watering.
Linda S. – Washington
I have rabbits that graze on my lawn. Do you have a lawn fertilizer that is safe and will not harm the bunnies?
Linda S. – Washington
Both our Nitrogen All Purpose Lawn & Garden pelletized fertilizer & Super Natural Lawn Food liquid fertilizers are safe and will not harm the bunnies. If you use the Nitrogen be sure to water immediately after applying so that the pellets break down.
Anna D. – South Carolina
How many ounces of the Dr Earth’s concentrate disease control fungicide to one gallon of water?
Anna D. – South Carolina
It is 2 ounces per gallon of water. Shake well before and during use for maximum control.
Lisa L. – California
How do you ‘open’ the pump bottle for the pump and water fertilizer?
Lisa L. – California
You should just be able to turn counter clockwise and the pump should pop up. If that does not work it could be defective and if that is the case we are sorry for the inconvenience, return to the retailer that you purchased it from and they will exchange it for a new one. Or you can twist the entire pump off the bottle and mix it with water in a watering can, dilution rate is 2oz per gallon of water.
Micah L. – California

What is “digested food byproduct”?
Michele R. – Colorado
We take what would have been food waste from the supermarket industry and convert it into renewable energy for plants in the form of carbon-rich fertilizer. The process begins with an industrial food digester equipped with a motorized grinder to pulverize the food scraps into a nutrient-rich slurry. This slurry is enzymatically digested and stored in an enclosed stainless-steel tank, keeping it thoroughly aerated and agitated. The tanks containing meats, fruits, vegetables, seafood bones and other organic foods are stored behind participating supermarkets until they’re collected by a tanker truck and brought to a main processing facility for further refinement. The finished materials are converted to the most nutrient-rich organic fertilizer in the world — with the highest level of sustainability. Our liquid fertilizer concentrates reach the highest level of sustainability of any fertilizer in the world! This is accomplished by utilizing break through science, technology, and enzymes to convert human grade organic food scraps from grocery stores into highly effective premium liquid fertilizers. Our carbon-rich liquid fertilizers are packed with Amino Acids, Fulvic Acid, Micronutrients, and Macronutrients. University studies and field trials strongly suggest that these liquid fertilizers provide exceptional results. By utilizing a wide array of high-value ingredients derived from multiple sources, organic liquid fertilizers can provide all essential macro- and micronutrients plants require, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, iron, manganese, zinc, boron, copper and molybdenum.

Karen
If your Colorado blue spruce has Rhizosphaera, our Final Stop Disease Control and Fungicide will not work. The best control for that disease is prevention. They have sucked the chlorophyl from the leaves to the point that they have turned white. I am going to cut the plant back, and remove. What do you recommend to eradicate this insect in future?
Paul S. – Maryland
You can use our Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer as a preventive and I highly encourage you to be proactive instead of being reactive when it comes to insect control in the garden. Giving your plants/garden a few applications even if you do not have or see an infestation or signs of any bug problems is a good thing because sometimes the bugs can be in egg form and you can catch before they hatch and it becomes an issue. Our products are great and safe to use in this manner.

Dear Milo.
Very nice hearing from you, and particularly being that you are the author of that book and the CEO of Dr. Earth! Your products are great, and an excellent name for a company as well ! :-). My Father grew up on a farm in Iowa, and he use to say… “be good to Nature, and Nature will be good to you”. Wise words indeed, which influenced me greatly.
I have long been an advocate of organic farming and eating only organic foods, and minimizing ones carbon footprint. I drive an EV for example. I started eating organic maybe thirty years ago when organic foods were called “health” foods :-). It works for me as I am quite healthy. In fact, I have not even taken an aspirin in more than 25 years!
That’s cool that your brother is an Architect. I am one of the fortunate ones that found a profession that I thoroughly enjoy and can being super creative. I also design furniture, products, and create art. My Father was a carpenter, so I inherited my love of building with wood from him.
Fertilizing my plants with your products will now have special meaning to me. Be safe and happy gardening.
John
Warren H. – North Carolina
After using your products for years and recommending to friends, Please answer this question of how the guano is harvested. I just want to know if I choose to use this product, am I contributing to the endangerment of bats and the critters associated with their environment? I’m sure the care you and your products exude must be sensitive to this concern. Love you guys and thank you for the success I’ve always had using Dr. Earth!
Warren H. – North Carolina
Just an FYI: During the pandemic, we stopped selling it as chicken manure is being pushed around and questioned like steer manure so we took the safe alternative and stayed away from all manures, and took it down from our website. However, under normal harvesting conditions, we believe we have one of the best bat guanos available today. Our family owns a 20-acre ranch in Arizona near the four corners area and made some very nice Indian friends (apache tribe) who are great farmers. They built these elaborate bat caves made of plywood, and a metal screen on the bottom but its a nice contraption, I buy once a year from them when I take my family there, and she usually has a tote for me. Her guano is top-notch! She is an organic gardener and does not use bug sprays on her 6000-acre farm. She also raises a variety of fruits that make great insect food, which makes great and clean guano.

Is there any difference between Dr. Earth’s Pure Gold liquid fertilizer and Dr. Earth’s Pot of Gold liquid fertilizer? We’ve also seen Pure Gold in both gold-colored containers and white-colored containers. What’s the difference, and why the different packaging? We’re downright thrilled with the Pure Gold, and wonder if they’re the same or different.

My dog ate a little bit of the fruit tree fertilizer. I don’t believe it was a lot. Is he going to be okay?
Annanya R. – California
Your dog should be fine, maybe at worst an upset stomach. My dog has done that before, quite a few times, he is under 12 pounds and has never had any issues.

I am interested in purchasing your Walk-on Bark but can’t find it anywhere! It is not sold at any of the retailers listed on your site and it appears as though you don’t offer shippping for mulch. Do you know where and how I might find?
Kelly S. – Louisiana
Unfortunately, the barks & mulches are not available in your area and we do not offer it online due to the tremendous shipping rates. Sorry for the inconvenience. They are sold at Armstrong Garden Centers.

I just read about “Comfrey bocking 14” and the benefits of using it in a compost and for teas. Do any of your products contain it and what are your thoughts on using it?
Tom C. – California
Our products do not contain “Comfrey bocking 14” but I have heard some good things about how beneficial its uses are. Diversity is a good thing. If you can incorporate it to your gardening, do it! You might be interested in our Metabolic Transformer. This will super charge your soil.
Kelley C. – California
I just bought a bottle of of your Pure Gold Pump&Grow plant food and there is a sticker on the bottom with the date 3/07/19. Is that an expiration date? should I return the bottle?
Kelley C. – California
The sticker with the date on the bottom of the bottle is our Born On Date! The fertilizer is not expired. No need to return to store.
Martha W. – North Carolina
I don’t have piped water at my garden site. I would like to try your fungicide but need to know if I can mix it in a pump sprayer since I can’t attach a hose.
Martha W. – North Carolina
Yes, you can dilute 2oz per gallon of water. Make sure to shake well before and during use for maximum control.
Beverly P. – California
Currently, temperatures are lingering just over 100 degrees F for the next week and I just planted some Japanese Anenomes. I keep them hydrated in the heat, watering deeply one to two times a week as needed and spritzed to maintain moisture. I used the bud and bloom for jumpstarting roses that were doing poorly. Is it too hot now to add the bud and bloom again (the package says every 6-8 weeks) for the anenomes.
Beverly P. – California
Summertime is one of the best times to be applying Flower Girl Bud & Bloom booster! Try making our fertilizer tea recipe when it is real hot and your plants will enjoy. It’s a great stress reliever from the heat. The recipe is on the back of the bag.
Led
Are your premixed dry fertilizers ph perfect? I made a tea with a bloom fertilizer pink bag and the ph tested perfect.
Led
Our premix dry fertilizers are not “ph perfect” but with our Trubiotic (microbes) they balance out.
Barb J. – North Carolina
I fertilized my tomatoes, green beans, and squash with Dr. Earth Home Grown Tomato and Herb fertilizer 2 weeks ago. We have been having heavy rains for the past 2 weeks. Since squash have such a short growing season, I wanted to ask how long I should wait to start doing compost teas/foliar sprays to continue to supply much needed nutrients as the summer season arises, temperatures rise, and it doesn’t rain as frequently? Also, in plants such as tomatoes and beans, how long should I wait to begin using a bloom fertilizer?
Barb J. – North Carolina
You can start right away doing compost teas & foliar sprays. No worries. You can start using Bud & Bloom Booster fertilizer now and through summer and can make our fertilizer tea with it as well! If you get a chance you should try our Liquids fertilizers in conjunction with our dry for the ultimate gardening experience!
Joanne S. – California
I have Dr. Earth Organic 5 tomato, vegetable and herb fertilizer from years past and the top says 5-7-3. What do those numbers stand for? Also, I have one beefsteak tomatoe plant in a pot on my balcony and some of the leaves are turning yellow. Does that mean it needs nitrogen? Also how much do I use for one plant?
Joanne S. – California
The numbers stand for NPK (N) Nitrogen (P)Phosphorus (K)Potassium in that order. As far as your tomato plant the yellowing, it could be over watering. Play around with your watering habits to see if it stops. If it still yellow after adjusting water habits then, yes, it could be a lack of iron. Our tomato, vegetable & herb fertilizer will give your plant a balance diet and should correct that. I suggest getting a hold of a newer batch of our Fertilizer, Organic 5 / 5-7-3 is very old and I suggest our most current version Home Grown Tomato, Vegetable & Herb Fertilizer.
Ryan L. – California
I bought your tomato organic fertilizer, to realize there is a P65 Warning label on it. Why is this the case?
Ryan L. – California
Everything we make a Dr.

I’m writing to ask about fertilizing plants that already have fruit on them. I’d like to give them fertilizer, but I realize that some might get on the fruit by accident in the process. Is it safe to just wash the peas carefully before eating? Do I need to wait a certain number of days after applying the fertilizer before harvesting, washing, and eating the peas? Would liquid fertilizer or fertilizer tea be better than the dry fertilizer in terms of getting fertilizer on the fruit? And what about lettuce or herbs – a little fertilizer is likely to get on the leaves.

Why is Dr. Earth “Life” no longer available in gardening, nursery and farm outlet stores in Oregon? Is it being discontinued? I prefer to support local small businesses, but if the only way to obtain Dr. Earth “Life” in Oregon is via the internet I guess I will have to accept it. Where in Oregon can I reliably find Dr. Earth “Life”? I grow Bonsai trees, and Dr. Earth “Life” is probably the best product I have found to establish the micro-biotic organisms necessary for root growth and tree health in newly repotted trees and to re-invigorate it in the spring after our wet winters. If I used cow manure and mushroom soil with Dr Earth would I hurt my garden by having to much fertilizer? I don’t want all plant and no fruit.
Holly R. – Pennsylvania
I would hold off on the cow manure. It’s not a great source of nutrients and could potentially burn your plants. I suggest our Home Grown or Natural Wonder fertilizers depending on what fruits you are growing. Topping it with a mushroom compost/soil is fine. We highly encourage not to use manures. Too many potential risks unless you know the source and trust them.
Larry N. – Ohio

I have whiteflies on my plants. I bought the final stop to kill them. My question is when can I water the plants? Should I spray first or water first?

You can water anytime as long as you are watering the soil and not the actual plants. If you will be getting the plants wet, then water them first and then apply.

Our Yorkie ate some of the soil today out of a potted plant that contained a small amount of your Rose/Bloom fertilizer after I had mixed it in the soil today. Though your product contains natural ingredients we just wanted to make sure this wasn’t toxic to dogs. He seems to be okay but I wanted to make sure.
Janie L. – Texas
We are glad to hear your Yorkie is okay. If your Yorkie ate a lot, he might get an upset stomach. Our products are made of 100% organic ingredients that dogs seem to love, but just make sure when you use next time to water in to discourage him from eating (we do not use chemical poisons in our products).

That has happen to me before then I bought a 5 gallon bucket with lid to store the fertilizer. That has stopped that from happening again. If you have a few bugs, you will be okay to use but if its infested with bugs, throw it out. As to where they come from it’s like moths they just show up from your surroundings.
Dylan K. – Michigan
What is your best fertilizer for growing cannabis?
Dylan K. – Michigan
When growing cannabis we recommend 2 fertilizers. For the vegetation period, Premium Gold All Purpose & Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster for the flowering stage of the plant. You can use just one, but to maximize your production of oils, terpenes and yield using both and or some of our other products will help achieve great results.
Tom M.
No one around here knows citrus trees. Can you offer a gauge as to how much and how often to use Dr Earth fruit tree fertilizer in my potted citrus?
Tom M.
Nancy D. – California
What is the difference in size between the medium, fine, and micro barks? Also, how does using the shredded bark compare with using the medium bark (in terms of the effectiveness of reducing weeds and also with it’s longevity)?
Nancy D. – California
The difference on sizes goes as following: Medium 1 1/2 -2 inches; Fine 1- 1 1/2 inches; Micro under 1 inch in size. Both Shredded bark & medium bark are similar in reducing weeds. The medium bark will last longer you might have to re-apply in 2- 3 years with no walking traffic in full sun.
Steve H. – Oregon
How long after use of Final Stop can the sprayed area be planted?
Steve H. – Oregon
Jonathan M. – New York
I’m thinking about using both Final Stop Fungus Control and Insect Killer on my lawn here in New York.
How many times should I apply both of the products now and through out the summer?
Jonathan M. – New York
Jane M. – California
Is there an expiration date for the products? Do I have to use them up within a certain period of time, or do they stand being on the shelf for a year perhaps?
Jane M. – California
Bill R. – Montana
I am attempting a cannabis plant in my garden and each year I top off with a new layer ~2″ compost and I mix in your general 5-5-5. So, my question supplement is, how (liquid or top dress), what (which fertilizer) and when (how ofter) do I add the additional fertilizer?
Bill R. – Montana
Linda
I will be applying your Final Stop Weed killer and want to know how long I must wait before I allow kids or dogs onto the area where I sprayed?
Linda
Your kids & dogs can go onto the areas you sprayed right after it has dried. Make sure to shake product well for optimum results.
Janice D. – California
What is wrong with my Meyer lemon tree? I get tons of fruit off my tree but a lot of the buds fall off.
Janice D. – California
Buds falling off is normal. The tree will only be able to support so many fruit. My citrus this season had so many fruits on it I had to thin it out and cut off a lot of oranges because it was snapping branches (too much weight). Just make sure that your Meyer lemon tree is well fertilized.
Chris R. – Oklahoma

Both our lawn fertilizers are safe for pets if used as directed. If you are using our liquid lawn fertilizer wait till after lawn is dry to let your pets on the grass. If you are using our dry pelletized lawn fertilizer wait till you see the pellets dissolve before your pets go on the lawn.
Mary W. – New Hampshire
I just got your granular rose and flower fertilizer. It says to put it on established flowers in early spring. Would it be harmful to put it on now (May 28 in New Hampshire)? If so, when would be the best time to use it?
Mary W. – New Hampshire
It is perfectly fine to use Total Advantage Rose & Flower dry fertilizer now. It will not harm your plants. You might want to try our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster in the summer. Your flowers would enjoy a little more phosphorus in the summer.
Earlene J. – South Carolina

I am wondering if I can use the liquid lawn food on my crepe Myrtles?
Kate K. – Texas
Yes, you can use our liquid lawn food on your crepe Myrtles early in the growing season, but I suggest our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster, so they also get phosphorus for root development and blooms.
Ann E. – Washington
I purchased your fungicide concentrate. Does the lawn need to be wet when I spray? When should it be watered after application? How soon can the lawn be mowed after applying?
Ann E. – Washington
Your lawn does not need to be wet when you spray. You can water the next day or when ever you have irrigation set to (normal watering habits). You can cut your lawn once application is dry.
Robert F. – Washington

Monty B. – California
I just purchased your black organic potting soil. Can you tell me PH level?
Monty B. – California
Our Home Grown Potting Soil (black bag) PH level is 6.4.
Jane P. – California
How long does Dr Earth’s fine mulch last?
Jane P. – California
Our mulches longevity depends on its environment. Barks usually last longer than shredded mulch, but from my own experience, I have had to add more bark about every 2 -3 years the area is in full sun all day. If its in an area with walk on traffic you might find your self re-applying every year.
William S. – Minnesota
I have a 4 lb bag of Dr. Earth Natural Wonder. Is this ok to use on blueberry bushes? Will it help to acidify the soil? I need to add some soil to blueberry plants so was going to mix this in.
William S. – Minnesota
For your blueberry bushes we recommend our dry Acid Lover fertilizer. Blueberries thrive in acidic soil. Natural Wonder will feed your blueberries but it won’t provide the acidic needs for them.
Lilliana O. – Massachussets
Is the Final Stop product safe for bees and birds?
Lilliana O. – Massachussets
We recommend using our Final Stop in the early AM when bees are less active. When used as directed our product is safe for bees & birds. We do not use chemical poisons. We use 100% Organic essential oils.
Jim B. – Florida
I purchased the 24 oz concentrate of Final Stop fungicide for use on my lawn. Can you please advise how much product to use per 1,000 sq ft of lawn?
Jim B. – Florida
We recommend using a dial sprayer and setting it to 4 TBSP setting. How much product for use per 1000 sq ft depends on how long or how fast you move when applying and what are you using? tank sprayer? Hose dial? The bottle treats up 3750 sq. ft. If you are concerned about over doing it or not applying enough just make sure that the grass gets a coat of spray. You don’t have to soak the lawn, move evenly and briskly for an application.
Amy S. – California
I just bought two containers of your Total Advantage Rose and Flower Fertilizer yesterday and noticed that the sticker on the bottom of the containers says 1/5/19. Usually that is the “use by” date. Can you please tell me if I need to return it, or if it is usable?
Amy S. – California
The sticker on the bottom is Born on date. Your Total Advantage Rose & Flower Liquid fertilizer is good and ready for your garden!
Joe T. – Tennessee

Joe T. – Tennessee
Yes, you can use the liquid in your hydroponic grow dilute 1-2 oz per water depending on hydroponic system.
Marian F. – Arizona
I bought several bags of you cedar bark mulch to spread in my vegetable garden. Do I need to be concerned with the proposition 65 warning on the bag because we will be eating these foods?
Marian F. – Arizona
Everything we make is 100% organic. Prop 65 is listed on all of our products. The reason we do this is because all organic ingredients contain traces of lead and other metals that are listed under Prop 65. We put this marking on our products to be transparent, even though the level of lead in our products is far lower than the requirements by Prop 65.
James P. – Arizona
Can I mix the dry products such as Flower Girl in a bucket of water before applying?
James P. – Arizona
Yes, you can. We have a great fertilizer tea recipe on the back of the bag and your plants will love it. You might also consider using our Flower Girl Liquid.

Daniel H. – California
I have clay soil, lousy, doesn’t retain water. suspect alkaline. planting iceberg floribundas and boxwood around. What amendments/products do you recommend? I’m tempted because roses like 6.5 and suspect this is a bit alkaline to add small amount peat and steer manure to products.
Daniel H. – California
We recommend our Dry Total Advantage Rose & flower fertilizer with our Mother Land Planting mix. This will work for both your Iceberg Roses and boxwood. Stay away from steer or chicken manures. They won’t perform like you think they should. They are very cheap sources of nitrogen. We use premium ingredients like Fish meal, Fish Bone meal, Kelp meal & Kelp flour, and all our dry fertilizers and premium soil mixes contain Trubiotics!
Jeanne H. – California
Can I use the hose end Final Stop Veg Garden Insect Killer as a concentrate for my pump up sprayer? If so, what would be the dilution rate?

Pavitra K. – California
The All purpose Liquid Gold Fertlizer says that it is derived from digested food materials and digested food byproducts. What does that mean? What do you mean by digested?
Pavitra K. – California
The finished materials are converted to the most nutrient-rich organic fertilizer in the world with the highest level of sustainability. They are handcrafted in small batches using patented biologics and mechanics to convert high-quality organic food materials into molecular fats, proteins and carbohydrates, without the use of any synthetic additives. The products and processes are reviewed at every stage to ensure safety and ease of use and are independently examined by a California microbial consulting group to ensure transparency and efficacy in all growth media. Everything you would feed your family, can be used to feed plants, saving the world and make it a better place at the same time. Renewable energy is the final frontier and it will solve a long overdue problem.
Janet B. – Alabama
I would like to use your Final Stop yard and garden insect killer on my lawn. I have a couple of questions before I do. First…how long does my puppy have to stay off the grass after spraying your product? Second…is it safe for my puppy to eat the grass after staying off the yard the allotted time? Thank you in advance for a prompt response.
Janet B. – Alabama
Once Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer is dry your dog can go on the lawn, The grass is safe for your puppy to eat after it has dried.
Brian B. – South Carolina
My container squash have brown on the ends. How can I reverse this?
Brian B. – South Carolina
Brown spots on the end of your squash sounds like blossom end rot, which is a lack of calcium. On the existing squash you can’t reverse but you can prevent it on other squash by fertilizing with Home Grown Dry Fertilizer. It has plenty of calcium in it.
Tabitha P. – Arkansas
Can I add Dr. Earth Premium Gold All Purpose Fertilizer to my water in my water garden? Is it fish safe?
Tabitha P. – Arkansas
We do not recommend using our Premium Gold All Purpose Fertilizer in your water garden. Even though we are 100% Premium Organic it was not designed for water gardens with fish in them.
Nick D. – Tennessee
Do I spray final stop yard and garden insect killer directly onto the plant, foliage, flowers, etc. or into the soil? It says thorough contact is required. Does that mean I have to spray directly on the insect?
Nick D. – Tennessee
Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer is a contact kill spray, you will have to spray the entire plant & under leaves (foliage, flowers) and yes you want to target the insects directly, repeat as necessary. Make sure to apply in early AM or in late evening.
Sarah B. – California
I accidentally applied about 5 times the suggested method to my garden bed. Then I put a layer of compost on top and planted some starts. I did not turn the soil. Then I planted some starts. And THEN I realized I had over fertilized. Do you think my plants will die? Is there any way to mitigate the issue at this point?
Sarah B. – California
No worries Sarah, you won’t hurt your plants. We do not use manures like chicken or steer that can run hot sometimes and have the chance of burning roots/plants if you over add. We only use premium ingredients like fish, kelp, alfalfa. Your plants will do just fine.
Joe M. – New Jersey
Which product should be used to feed rasberrys?
Joe M. – New Jersey
For your raspberries we recommend our Natural Wonder. We have a dry and liquid. If they are new, I suggest using our dry then watering it in with our liquid. The liquid will start working quicker and the dry will maintain longer during the growing season.
Mark L. – New York
I have been using Dr Earth Lawn Fertilizer for two years. Now I cant find it in stores or online. Have you discontinued it? Do you have something to take its place?

Can I use Final Stop Vegetable Garden Insect Killer on my indoor cactus? It has mealybugs.
Tisha R. – Arizona
Yes, you can use Final Stop Vegetable Garden Insect Killer on your indoor cactus.
Elizabeth P. – California
I purchased you ready-to-spray tomato and vegetable liquid fertilizer concentrate but there are no instructions of how much to feed. I have my tomatoes in 5-gallon containers. How much spray should I use and how often?
Elizabeth P. – California
If you are using our Home Grown Liquid hose end concentrate, water how you would normally water those containers. If it’s our concentrate and need to mix, then 2 oz. per gallon of water. Make sure you slowly turn on water, if you have high water pressure our hose end will shoot out hard as well, so if they are smaller containers you are watering start slow with low pressure. Apply every two weeks.
Briana R. – Oregon
Can Final Stop Yard and Garden Insecticide be used on houseplants?
Briana R. – Oregon

Marcus W. – Tennessee
Could you advise as to how much Flower Girl fertiliser is recommended for dahlias (in the ground)? And how often would one apply?
Marcus W. – Tennessee
Use 1/2 cup per plant and scratch into soil around the base of the plant. Repeat every other month in the growing season.
Margaret V. – New York
On the bud and bloom buster can this be harmful if you use a little too much or is it SAFE! I have lots of planted planters and was wondering if I could just apply in around the plants and then just lightly scratch it in with my fingers. Would that be OK?
Margaret V. – New York
It is totally safe. You might want to try in the near future our Pump & Grow for your container plants. Its easy and 100% premium organic!
Rose F. – North Carolina
I sprayed your Final Stop bug spray on my rosemary plants….is it now poisonous to use in cooking?
Rose F. – North Carolina

Cameron S. – Washington
What is the ‘rainproofness’ of the Final Stop? What is the recommended application time prior to rain?
Cameron S. – Washington
Our Final Stop Insect Killers products are design to kill on contact. It is not rain proof, so if it dries before bugs show up it won’t kill them if it rains right after you apply. You will have to reapply again.
Judith P. – Colorado
Will Dr. Earth Vegetable Garden Insect Killer kill bees?
Judith P. – Colorado

Heather S. – Georgia
What type of fertilizer should I use for gardenia bushes?
Heather S. – Georgia
If you haven’t fertilized those gardenias in a while I recommend our Acid Lover Dry Fertilizer. Heather M. – Arizona
I’m learning that my potted grapevine may be needing potassium. Is your “Home Grown” tomato vegetable and herb fertilizer an appropriate choice?
Heather M. – Arizona
The right fertilizer for your grapes is our Natural Wonder Fruit tree fertilizer dry. It’s for all fruit trees, all vines all berries and grapes, You can use our dry alone, but for some outstanding results, I have a suggestion with our Dry Fertilizer around the base of your grapevine then mulch it with our Natural Wonder Planting mix then water it in with our Natural Wonder Liquid fertilizer. Your grape vine will flourish with growth and tasty yields.
Daniel D. – Texas
Can I take the final stop Vegetable Garden Insect Killer spray and put it in a garden pump sprayer? I’m not sure what dilution ratio to use.
Daniel D. – Texas
You can dilute 2 oz per gallon of water in a pump sprayer. Make sure your veggies/plants are well fertilized so they stay healthy. When plants are healthy they are less prone to disease and insect problems.
Schuyler W. – California
I have a bottle of your 1-1-2 cactus and succulent plant food. Long story short, my dog licked up a puddle of the liquid, and although it’s pet-safe, I know it’s not intended for consumption. I’m wondering if you could tell me what other ingredients are in the formula and if it poses any danger. Also, we may have a defective pump–the contents of our bottle drip out when not in use.
Schuyler W. – California
Our liquid fertilizers are made of food grade grocery waste (whole organic foods) like fish, meat, vegetables and fruits. Your right, it is not intended for animal or human consumption. From experience my dog has licked the cap and my measuring cup when I have used our product, it has not effected him in any way. That being said every dog is different. Sounds like you did get a defective pump that happens time to time, the retailer you purchased it from should have no problems exchanging it for you.
Deborah P. – Alaska
Does the Dr. Earth Super Active soil inoculant expire? If unopened, how long is it good for?
Deborah P. – Alaska
If stored in cool dry conditions Super Active Soil inoculant could last for 10 years.
McQuetta M. – Michigan

McQuetta M. – Michigan
The date on the sticker on the bottom is a born on date and NOT an expiration date.
Mary S. – California
I have a grapefruit tree that looks to have Greasy Spot disease. Everything I read says Copper Spray is used for it. Do you have any product that would work on this?

Diane B. – New York
I have a raised bed 4’ x 6’. It was recommended that I mix a bag of Vegetable Garden Planting Mix in with the existing soil. I would like to know if that mix contains fertilizer. If not, when should I begin fertilizing and what fertilizer do you recommend for tomatoes and eggplant?
Diane B. – New York
Our Home Grown Vegetable Planting Mix does contain soil amendments/fertilizer and has about a 30 day charge, but we do highly recommend that you use our Home Grown Dry fertilizer when first planting new seedlings to really maximize your yields of your veggies in your raised garden beds. I also encourage you trying our Liquid Home Grown as well and use in conjunction with our dry for the ultimate growing experience! First mix Home Grown Vegetable Planting Mix, mix into raised bed, dig holes for veggies apply dry Home Grown fertilizer, then water it in with Home Grown Liquid fertilizer. Your garden will love this combo!
Frank T. – Washington
How much Dr. Earth Tomato, Vegetable & Herb fertilizer should I use when I plant tomatoes? How much per plant when I first put them in the ground?
Frank T. – Washington
Use 1/2 cup per tomato plant. Make sure you sprinkle around the root ball of the plant when you plant in hole. I recommend our Home Grown Liquid to water in our dry fertilizer. This will get your plants some nutrients quickly and get them off to a great start! It will also help with yield and production of those tomatoes!
Karen R. – California
Do your dry fertilizers have micronutrients in them?
Karen R. – California
Yes, our dry fertilizers do have micro nutrients/trace elements in them. They are coming from the kelp meal, kelp flour, fish meal and fish bone meal that we use to make our fertilizers. That is one of the reasons for having ocean rich amendments in our fertilizers.
Karen C. – New Hampshire
I took 2-3 inches off my lawn and am getting loam/compost mix delivered on Saturday. I would like to feed the clay soil before I add the delivery on Saturday. Then I will hydroseed that. Can I use the super lawn food on the existing dirt before I cover?
Karen C. – New Hampshire
Yes, it is perfectly fine to use the Super Natural Lawn food before. You can also use it after. No worries on burning. You might want to consider using our Nitrogen once your lawn is established.
Amie L. – Colorado
I purchased the Dr. Earth Flower Girl Bud and Bloom Booster, and I sprinkled it on top of my large flowering basket. I’ve had trouble in the past with these baskets not flowering through the summer. How often should I reapply this fertilizer to a hanging flower basket? What about for other potted flowers?
Amie L. – Colorado
We recommend applying every 2 month. May I also suggest our Liquid Flower Girl on top of our dry. The liquid will give those large flower baskets a boost at critical times and help promote those blooms all summer long.
Eric S. – Minnesota
Does the Final Stop Weed and Grass Killer Herbicide kill my ‘good’ grass? I.e. is it a ground-clear or will it kill just the ‘bad’ weeds and grasses?
Eric S. – Minnesota

Matt C. – California
I use your liquid tomatoes fertilizer and it’s great on my tomatoes and vegetables and herds! I recently planted a lot of flowers: Mexican petunias, dahlias, poppies,, zinnias, daisies, salvias, calla lilies— and I’m wondering which fertilizers that you make would be good for these flowers.
Matt C. – California
What a great mix of flowers! What we recommend right now is our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster. What’s great about Flower Girl is that you can also use it on your veggies going into and thru summer.
Terry K. – Florida
I am using Final Stop Vegetable Garden Spray on my tomatoes. Do I have to wait to pick tomatoes after using product?
Terry K. – Florida
No, you do not have to wait, you can spray Final Stop the day of harvest. That is how safe it is! Simply rinse, like you would any vegetable and enjoy.
Carol L. – California
I purchased your granular tomato fertilizer for my patio potted tomato plants. I probably should have purchased one of your liquid fertilizers, but I am wondering how to use the fertilizer on my potted plants? Do I put some son top and hope it will seep through the soil? You mention making a tea with it and applying it to the plants. How would I do this?
Carol L. – California
You want to scratch it in the soil around the plant, mix 1/4 cup per 5 gallons of soil. You can also make our fertilizer tea, the recipe is on the back of the bag.
John R. – Massachusetts
I was wondering if I can pair nightcrawlers Too my plants with using dr.earth 4-4-4 and bloom booster turning it into a living soil.
John R. – Massachusetts
Yes, our fertilizers will not harm night crawlers, earthworms or red wigglers.
Bob N. – Arizona
I buy your Natural Wonder for my fruit trees, peaches, plums, nectarines, persimmons, Asian apple and figs, but I also has some tropical trees and am wondering which product you suggest I use for mango, papaya, avocado and mamey sapote.
Bob N. – Arizona
Natural Wonder will work for all your fruit trees, but if you want to take it to the next level I would recommend later in the growing season to use our Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster. This will help maximize your yield and harvest.
Sandra H.
After using your fertilizer in my potted herb plants I noticed this white stuff growing on top of soil. I’ve never had this before and it looks different than typical mold. It has tentacles growing all over. Any info on what this could be would be appreciated!

I recently purchased your succulent liquid fertilizer from Home Depot and it’s hard to see but it looks like the date on the bottom is 2016…I believe it is a sticker from your company rather than Home Depot. I’ve never used a fertilizer for a succulent and wanted to check that this date is OK for my plants.
Amy R. – North Carolina
Sue C. – California
I have potted several succulent cuttings and plants in terra cotta pots using the Dr. Earth Exotic Blend for Cacti and Succulents. Within a week or so, the soil in the pots hardens, and does not let water pass through the soil. I checked the succulent plants that they have at the nursery and the soil is soft and loose. They tell me that their plants are planted in the same mix. Any suggestions?

I mixed Dr. Earth Root Zone Starter Fertilizer into my soil along with some mushroom compost when I planted all my shrubs this spring. I also mixed it with the potting soil when I transplanted a young Japanese Maple into a very large container & with a few container flowers. Matt E. – California
I bought a couple containers of the Final Stop weed and Grass killer, which has worked pretty well so far. I dumped one gallon into a pressurized tank sprayer which worked ok, but it was a little thick and didn’t want to move through the system easily. I was just wondering if diluting it a bit would reduce its effectiveness, and if there is a recommended ratio I would be able to dilute it to work with a pressure sprayer.

I bought your Root Zone last year. The bag says it doesn’t expire until Dec of this year, 2020, but when I went to use it a few weeks ago, I opened it up and it reeks of ammonia. Is this normal? I had hoped this would last more than one season? Thank you. I do love your products!

We just put our first grade in – raised beds. We ordered top soil and filled our boxes and then tested it. It is depleted of everything. We have started a compost pile. It is extremely Alkaline. What would you recommend we use to try and get the soil able to grow this season? We used Dr. Earth on my son’s orange trees and loved it. So we trust you.

I live in Southern California. I just purchased the Organic Pot of Gold Potting Soil in preparation for starting an indoor vegetable garden. Harold G. – California
Erwin Y. – North Carolina

Kirsten K. – Washington

What is the best Fertilizer for all kind of In Ground and Container Roses and Jasmine Plants? Do I also need to Use Chemical Fertilizer e.g N-P-K 20-20-20, Phosphate, Epsom Salt, Potash etc. Do I still Use Liquid Kelp and Humic acid?
Chandrahas P. – Texas
We recommend our Total Advantage Rose & Flower Fertilizer, we have it in several sizes 1lb, 4lb, 12lb & 25lb. You do not need to use a Chemical fertilizer Our Rose fertilizer has Kelp Meal, Kelp Flour also contains Humic acid. Chemical fertilizers only feed the plant. Dr. Earth Organic fertilizers feed the soil that feeds your plants.

I want to Grow Microgreens in a tray and wanted to know if the VEGETABLE GARDEN PLANTING MIX is okay to use for planting Microgreens?
Amelia L. – Maryland
Carol F. – North Carolina
We are rather new to vegetable gardening. We planted lettuce, corn, tomatoes and squash from seeds a few weeks ago. We already had strawberries and onions growing. We understand now that it would have been optimal to have fertilized the soil before we planted the seeds, but since we did not, what would you recommend for the young seedlings? It looks like the dry mixes say to mix them with soil, but how do we do that when the young plants are already growing?
Carol F. – North Carolina
Brian S. – Florida
I have your fish bone meal product and I was wondering how often to apply it. I bought it mainly to get some plumerias of mine to bloom, and I have used it on other plants of mine, and I’ve used it once already a month or two ago. The package doesn’t say how often to apply?
Brian S. – Florida

Quick question from a customer regarding the cancer warning on The Dr Earth Tomato, Vegetable & Herb Fertilizer – 4LB. I informed the customer that a lot of companies are required to put that on their label if they choose not to specifically test their products for heavy metals etc. Is that the case with this product, or is that warning on there for another issue?
Aron
Ricardo L. – California
How much Dr Earth compost starter should I add into my 35 gallons compost tumbler?
Ricardo L. – California
Please use 1 cup per 10 gallons of compost.
Scott F. – California
I am looking for an organic fertilizer that I can use with my existing irrigation system. Do you have a product that can be inserted into the filter on my drip zone head assembly?
Scott F. – California
I would suggest to check with the manufacture of your drip zone head assembly to see if your specific model allows it. That being said, our liquid concentrate fertilizers are filtered to be under 25 micrometers and can be used with irrigation lines, drip tape and sprayers. If the manufacture of your model does not allow to be inserted in the filter of your drip zone head assembly another alternative is a Siphon mixer, you can find at your local garden center or online.
Gary K. – New Jersey
Can your herb vegetable fertilizer be just applied to the surface soil around the plants?
Gary K. – New Jersey
When applying our product you would want to sprinkle it within the drip line of the plant, lightly scratch it into the soil and then water thoroughly. This will work best.
Cassidy T. – California
I bought your fruit tree insect killer concentrate with the hose sprayer bottle but the bottle leaks really badly after the house is connected. I want to just pour the concentrate into my own hose sprayer. What’s the ratio per gallon that I can set my sprayer dial to? 4oz?
Cassidy T. – California
Yes, 4 ounces per gallon of water is perfect. You can also apply it every three days if you have a heavy infestation you need to eliminate.
Debbie C. – Colorado
Instead of scratching into the soil, mulching, and watering in, can I mix the bud and bloom booster with water and use it to water plants?
Debbie C. – Colorado
Yes, you can, mix it with the soil well and try to homogenize it to the best of your ability, then plant, and water well immediately afterwards.
Cordelia M. – Tennessee
I was wondering if all of your soils are safe for dogs. I have a high energy dog who gets bored quickly and if I don’t watch her, sometimes she eats little nibbles of dirt/mud. I am trying to plant foraging grasses for her to eat (oat, rye, barley), and I am using a medium sized plastic baby pool to contain them. Which of your soil/products would you recommend and are they all pet safe? I can only use pet safe products.
Cordelia M. – Tennessee
Our products are all natural ingredients found in nature, while not recommend for consumption, if consumed your dog will not be poisoned. Your pet could have an upset stomach only because their bodies do not know how to process the fertilizer through their bodies.
Dee C. – California
Hi Dr. Earth! Love-Love-Love your products!! Where can I find your seaweed concentrate? I bought mine about 6 years ago and have just run out. I just discovered it is the only thing that allows me to grow spinach!
Dee C. – California
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! We love to have comments like this. We discontinued the Seaweed Extract but our Home Grown dry fertilizer is very successful in growing spinach. If you would prefer a liquid fertilizer we also carry a liquid version.
Mark G. – Nevada
I’m looking for the right product for mature Jeffery Pines. Also ornamental pears and plum trees?
Mark G. – Nevada
For Pines I always recommend using our Acid Lovers Fertilizer, and for the pears and plums I would recommend using the Natural Wonder Fruit Fertilizer.
Christian M. – Georgia
I just planted some Linebacker Distylium from 3 gallon pots 2 days ago. I added root starter to the holes before putting the plants in. I may have used more than 3/4 cup but I do not think it was considerably more. Probably 15% to 20% of the leaves on one of the bushes are turning brown and drying out. Can a slight excess of root starter cause the issue?
Christian M. – Georgia
You can push 50% more and still be safe, no worries. Please stay safe and healthy!
.
Alex O. – Colorado
I used Dr. Earth’s Pure Gold Pump & Grow All Purpose Plant Food on a few of my plants. I live in a very dry climate, so mold has never been an issue before. But within days of using, I noticed moles growing in a few of my plants. What do I do to fix this? Can I continue to use Dr. Earth’s safely?
Alex O. – Colorado
This can happen with the liquid fertilizer, it is not harmful, just mix it into the soil and water it again. This tends to happen with fertilizer being on the surface of the soil.
Catherine P. – Massachusetts
What fertilizer is best for transplanting perennials in the ground from pots that I purchased at a nursery?
Catherine P. – Massachusetts
We recommend using our Root Zone Fertilizer for transplanting.
Sandra S. – California
I purchased Dr Earth tomato, vegetable and herb fertilizer for my already potted tomato plants in one gallon containers. How much fertilizer do I use for the one gallon containers that they are in? I am not sure and don’t want to harm the plants. The package says 1/4 cup for five gallons of dirt.
Sandra S. – California
The great news is that our product will not burn your plants unless you plant directly in the bag. For a 1 gallon container, I recommend using 1/8 cup of fertilizer. Mix it in well with the soil and give it plenty of water. Then feed again in 60 days.
Fred F. – Georgia
Does Final Stop kill ants? Is it available as a concentrate?
Fred F. – Georgia
The final stop will kill ants, but only the ants that are sprayed directly, so it can be challenging using against ants.
Carolyn K. – New Mexico
Do I water my lawn before applying Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide? What part of the day is best to apply?
Carolyn K. – New Mexico
You do not need to water before applying our fungicide. It is recommended that you apply in the morning or evening, avoiding the warmest part of the day.
S. G.
I found the ratio of dry cups to square footage on the packaging, but how do I go about spreading it? Should I use my hand? Some type of equipment?
S. G.
When you apply our fertilizer, you can use your hand or measuring cup, there is nothing toxic in any of our products so you are safe to do this. Sprinkle it around your plants, scratch it into the soil and then water it very well.
Daniel C. – California
I have a bottle of Dr Earth Bloom Booster for application via my garden hose….can I use it on my vegetables including lettuce?
Daniel C. – California
For all vegetable gardens we recommend using our Home Grown Fertilizer. You could use the Bud & Bloom Booster but for best results, use the Home Grown Fertilizer.
Caroline
Today I bought a 16 oz bottle at Home Depot in New Hampshire. There is a date on a white sticker on the bottom of the bottle that reads: 1/09/19 what is this date? Is this expired product? What is the shelf life of this product?
Caroline
The sticker on the bottom is the Born On Date. This product does not expire.
Cody A. – California
Just curious if the insect control is safe with bees and ladybugs?
Cody A. – California
If you spray the bees and lady bugs directly, it will kill them. If you spray plants that they land on, it will not kill them. It must be sprayed directly onto them to kill them.
Shay E. – Texas
I recently bought your acid lovers fertilizer for my azaleas. Can I also use it on gardenias and roses? Do I just put 2 cups of the fertilizer around the base of the plant by mixing it into the soil? Do I mix it into a watering can? I’m confused as to what to do.
Shay E. – Texas
You can absolutely use the Acid Lovers Fertilizer for your Gardenias and Roses, they will love it! Yes, you would put the dry fertilizer around the base of the plants, lightly scratch it into the soil and then give it plenty of water. This will help mix it with the soil.
Bob W. – California
Which of your soil products should I use for planting strawberrys in pots?
Bob W. – California
I actually just planted Strawberries in my garden at home last week. I used the Home Grown Potting soil. This is one of my most favorite blends and has always given me and other consumers great success.
Darren S. – North Carolina
I have a potted 10’ bird of paradise I wanted to confirm that the exotic blend was the right fertilizer and if so how much should I use and how often?
Darren S. – North Carolina
For Birds of Paradise, I would use the Premium Gold All Purpose Fertilizer. This is a 4-4-4 fertilizer and Birds of Paradise prefer fertilizer that has a balanced NPK. In other exotic plants I would in fact recommend the Exotic Blend Fertilizer, but in this case, use the Premium Gold.
Bill R. – Montana
I planted window boxes and mixed in Dr Earths Rose and flower. When I next fertilizer per directions, do I use Bloom booster and Rose and flower or booster alone?
Bill R. – Montana
I would use the Dr. Earth Bud & Bloom booster exclusively. I really love the results this fertilizer gives.
Anne P. – Arizona
Is your soil safe for cats. I grow grass for my cats and I have discovered that most soils I buy I making them sick. Is yours safe?
Anne P. – Arizona
Our soils do not contain anything that is toxic, your cats can come into contact with our soils and have no issues.
Deanna D. – Alaska
Will your final stop weed and grass killer herbicide kill a vegetable garden? We are trying to treat the dirt to not have grass and weeds keep growing in the area we are planting our vegetable garden. We enlarged our garden area that was part of the grassy yard.
Deanna D. – Alaska
Our weed and Grass killer is a contact killer and is not systemic. If you spray your vegetables directly, you will kill them. If you spray around them, you will not kill them. Our product will not prevent weeds either, only will kill plants that are sprayed.
Caleb J. – Wisconsin
Wondering if the tomato, vegetable, herb fertilizer includes onions. I need high N and preferably keep P and K around same analysis for onions, like 10-10-10 or something. Just don’t know if there’s a better fertilizer option for onions specifically from you guys other than the tomato veggie and herb blend. I adore your products and your mission. I’ll never use anything other than Dr. Earth fertilizers again. It is truly amazing how much work is taken out of gardening organically when it all boils down to it.
Caleb J. – Wisconsin
You can absolutely use our Home Grown Fertilizer for your Onions. A lot of recommendations referring to a 10-10-10 or 20-20-20 are in reference to synthetic fertilizers. With organics you can reach the same results and even better results using a lower N-P-K. Especially with our product, since we do not use cheap manure fillers we have long lasting results. If you are growing green onions, you only need to fertilizer at time of planting, if you are growing bulb onions you should fertilizer every 45 days.
Susan T. – Oregon
We have several shrubs and trees which were installed by landscapers last fall prior to first frost and there was no reason to apply starter fertilizer because the growing season was ending. We cannot dig them up in order to mix the Dr Earth Root Zone Starter Fertilizer with soil, so can I dissolve it in water and then apply? If so, what is the dilution rate?
Susan T. – Oregon
You could make a tea out of the Starter Fertilizer if you would like, or you could sprinkle the dry product on the soil surface, lightly scratch it in, then water thoroughly. This would be my preferred application.
Blanca P. – California
We I need to replant a medium pot gardenia – I just purchased your Acid Lovers fertilizer but I wish to know the following:
How should I mix the peat moss from Miracle Grow and the Miracle Grow soil for flowers plus the acid lovers organic fertilizer, should it be 1/2, 1/2 and 2 tablespoons of the acid lovers? I am afraid to kill the plant as they are so delicate.
Blanca P. – California
If you are using Miracle Gro Soil in conjunction with our fertilizer, it will kill our organisms in our product and our product will not be effective. The yellowing of leaves are usually because of too much water, you may try going an extra day without watering if you have been watering regularly, this may help.
Brandon B. – California
We have used your products for a number of years and have finally found the one product, for our lawn, that we really like. It is your Super Natural Organic Premium Lawn Fertilizer (9-3-5). Unfortunately we seem to be unable to locate that product anymore. Has it been replaced with the “gold” lawn fertilizer that has a lower Nitrogen count? Our clay soil really needs the extra Nitrogen boost and microbes that this product gave us. What do you suggest?
Brandon B. – California
We discontinued the 9-3-5 Lawn Fertilizer a few years ago. What was found in the market was product we were selling through. This was replaced with Nitrogen Lawn Food. It can be purchased from our website and can be ordered by garden centers that already carry Dr. Earth Products. This item was released this year, so many stores have not began carrying it quite yet, but it is available for them to order.
Rick H. – California
Do you have a suggestion for a fertilizer and a pesticide control that would be good for both tomatoes and roses outside? Also curious if you recommend different fertilizers through the season for Los Angeles zone?
Rick H. – California
I would recommend using the Yard & Garden Insect Killer Spray for both applications. If you want to get specific, I would recommend using Home Grown Fertilizer for your Vegetable Garden and I would use Bud & Bloom Booster for your flowering plants. I would use the same fertilizer throughout the year as well.
Annette M. – Michigan
Are your products safe for honeybees and other pollinators? I keep hives in my yard and want to be sure that they won’t be affected by applying lawn food?
Annette M. – Michigan
Our insect killer sprays will kill bees and other pollinators if they are sprayed directly. If you spray plants when these insects are not present and then they land on these plants later, it will not harm them.
Helen D. – Hawaii
Does Dr. Earth disease control fungicide work well on a sod lawn of seashore pascalum that is one month old?
Helen D. – Hawaii
Our fungicide will work on the majority of diseases that can be found in your lawn. With that said, I would need more information regarding the disease your lawn has at this time. It is very common with sod that it can be over watered, as you are supposed to water very frequently. If the soil below is not draining well enough, it could cause some yellowing and also disease. You may want to try cutting back the watering in the area that is having problems.
Bruce E. – California
For the last few years, I have been using Dr. Earth Natural Wonder- Organic- Premium Concentrate- Fruit Tree Fertilizer. 5-4-2. I cannot find this product anywhere. Did you stop making it?
Bruce E. – California
We still make our Natural Wonder Fruit Tree Fertilizer but we have changed the formula to a 5-5-2. We did this because we are constantly looking to improve our formulas and found this was a better blend.
Mac A. – California
I need to repot cymbidiums. I’m planning on a mix of shredded redwood, mixed with either medium bark or micro bark… maybe all three. Can you give me an idea of how big the pieces are with the micro and medium bark? If i’m not heading in the right direction…. do you have a better suggestion?
Mac A. – California
Our Micro Bark should be around 1/2 inch pieces and our Medium Bark is between 1″ and 1.5″.
K Ko
I have been looking to purchase your potting soil and noticed the cancer warning on the back, is there something in your soil that may be harmful to human health or am I misunderstanding this?
K Ko
We put the Prop65 warning on our packaging because all organic components include traces of lead. Far below the required limit that is required for the Prop65 warning, but we would much rather be transparent.
Susan O. – California
Which Dr. Earth product do I use to fertilize my lilacs?
Susan O. – California
I recommend using the Spectacular Bulb Food for Lilacs. They like a lot of phosphorus and minimal nitrogen.
Luke W – Iowa
We bought some of your plating/potting mix for the first time this year and have been very pleased with the results and would like to continue to use more of your products the rest of the year. We use a drip system for our garden and have the ability to put fertilizer and nutrients into the drip system. Question,
1. Can I add water to the dry fertilizer and then run it through my drip system? I’m not sure if it will dissolve down enough to work with the drip.
2. If your dry fertilizer will not dissolve down enough, I assume your liquid product would work?
3. We have expanded our garden this year and want to provide as much of our own food as possible, that being the background, which fertilizers (or packages) would you recommend to help make this happen, specifically to be able to run through our drip system?
Luke W – Iowa
You can use our dry fertilizer to make a tea, you would need to allow the dry fertilizer to sit in water for 24 hours, separate the solids from the tea and this would work in your drip system. Our liquid fertilizers would also work in your drip system. For edible gardens we recommend the Home Grown Fertilizer and for the final feeding before harvest, using the Flower Girl Bud & Bloom Booster fertilizer.
Jason D – New Hampshire
This year I have been using Dr. Earth fruit tree fertilizer on my trees. They are mulched, and I have been raking back the mulch, spreading the fertilizer, scratching it in to the soil, watering and putting the mulch back. Over the next night or two we have been getting a skunk (verified on camera) digging around in the mulch over the next night or two.
Have you had others with this experience? Do you know of a way to deter them from digging for the first few days? (I am assuming the smell of the fertilizer attracts them and the smell wears off)?
Jason D – New Hampshire
Animals can be drawn to our fertilizer as there is a fish aroma. The best way to combat this is to water it in a little more. Drench it even. Even if it is a little too much water for the plant/tree. It will recover in a few days max.
Evan
I try to grow my vegetables using organic products. My tomatoes seem to get bottom rot, which I’ve been told is due to not enough calcium. Does your Home Grown Tomato,Vegetable & Herb Fertilizer help with that?
Evan
Yes our Home Grown fertilizer contains about 7% calcium. This will definitely help with End Rot.
Bridget E – Arizona
I have a Tropic Pink guava fruit tree in Surprise Arizona and wanted to know the best fertilizer for this fruit tree. I also have a Lapkin sweet cherry tree and wanted to know the right fertilizer for that tree.
Bridget E – Arizona
The best fertilizer to use for both Guava and Cherries would be our Natural Wonder Fruit Tree Fertilizer. This is great for fruit production and builds strong roots that can support that fruit production.
Chris S – Texas
Is your Final Stop fungicide bee-safe? I want to use on my lawn, and my wife has many pollinator plants in the area, as well as butterfly plants (their food) and want to make sure they’re not harmed. Can this be sprayed very near where bees and butterflies are?
Chris S – Texas
If Bees are sprayed directly it will kill them. If they are not present during application and then fly into the area, they will not be harmed. Even if landing on plants that have been sprayed previously, it will not harm them.
Karen R
I have a bottle of Dr Earth pump tomato, vegetable and herb fertilizer. The pump isn’t working any longer so I wanted to know how to measure out the fertilizer to pour it into the planters. How much liquid is in one pump?
Karen R
For the liquid fertilizer, you would want to mix 2 ounces per gallon of water.
Mary K
Is your fertilizer good for my olive trees?
Mary K
You can fertilize your Olive Trees with our Natural Wonder Fruit Tree fertilizer. I would use about 1.5 cups per tree every 2-3 months. For your shopping convenience, you can purchase this from our website if you would like.
Ellen M
We are looking for an organic soil from the USA to grow vegetables in a pot on our deck. Which one would you suggest? We get southern exposure from morning to around noon. We will be growing tomato and red pepper plants.
Ellen M – Maryland
We recommend our Home Grown Vegetable Potting Soil for your container vegetables. You can buy it at your local garden centers or from our website.
Larry S
My garden center sold us Dr.Earth Premium Seed Starter Potting Mix with Kelp Flour. After the seeds sprout, is it necessary to fertilize this soil mixture or is there enough in this soil mix so that we don’t have to add additional fertilizer until much later if at all?
Larry S
The Seed Starter mix has fertilizer in it already and would be fine for plants for about 30 days. After 30 days, you would need to fertilize again.
David J
I live next to a wetland area so I need to verify that your lawn fertilizer is safe to toads, frogs, ducks, fish, etc.
David J
We value our waterways very much and for this reason we do not put any phosphorus in our lawn food products. The run off of phosphorus is not good for our waterways.
JR
I am in South Florida and just planted an avocado tree a couple of weeks ago. I’m seeing holes in the leaves but can’t see any insects. Can final stop be used on avocado leaves and will it make it susceptible to sunburn?
JR
Our spray would deter what ever is eating away at your Avocado trees. If they are not present at the time of application though, it is unlikely to kill them.
Taylor T
Hi, I am very interested in your product and can’t find a supplier in Canada. Do you ship to Canada?
Taylor T
You should be able to purchase our items on Amazon.com and have them shipped to Canada.
Courtney P
I am needing a 20-20-20 organic fertilizer for my weeping willow I planted last year. Is there a product of yours that you can recommend?
Courtney P
We do not offer a 20-20-20 fertilizer. That would be challenging to hit those numbers organically. We do offer a 4-4-4 Premium Gold All Purpose fertilizer which would be comparable as all of the nutrients would be available to your plants as opposed to nutrients washing through the soil with a synthetic fertilizer.
Mark K
Hi, I’m looking for high quality vegetable garden soil and was looking at your ‘Home Grown product. On there it says there is no chicken manure. What is wrong with Chicken Manure?
Mark K
Please find the link below to an article on chicken manure. If you should have any other questions, I would be happy to help.

Eric W
I have 4 avocado trees in large wine barrel pots. They are about 6 foot tall. Since they are in pots instead of in the ground, should I fertilize them every 2 months instead of every 3 months? I am using your 5-5-2 product.
Eric W
One great feature of our fertilizer is that it does not contain nutrient sources that will burn. It is a slow release fertilizer. You can absolutely apply the fertilizer every 2 months for container trees.
Mike J.
I noticed the Home Grown has calcium in the analysis and many others including the All Purpose do not have calcium listed in the analysis. Basically, I just wanted to confirm that calcium or other micro elements are not in the product if it’s not in the analysis so I can prepare.
Mike J
The other fertilizers do contain a similar amount of Sulfur and Calcium but we do not claim them on all of the labels.
Melissa
Do your products contain any tree nuts, peanuts or coconut? We have allergies to these so want to make sure there is no cross contamination. I’m interested in fertilizer and soil to plant some succulents and also start our own garden for vegetables and fruits.
Melissa
We do use any nut products in any of our blends. With our soil products, we use packaging facilities around the country and they may or may not have nut products in their yards.
Donica A – Chewy
What is the water to spray bottle ratio?
Donica A – Chewy
Please advise the customer that the ratio is 2 ounces per gallon of water.
Chad B
I bought the Organic Pump & Grow All Purpose Plant Food at Home Depot and used it on many of my plants at home (many of which have been living in their pots for several years), unfortunately every plant that received the plant food began to develop a mold either on the plant itself or on top of the soil. Not knowing what kind of mold this was or whether or not it was harmful to the plant I decided to remove the plants from the soil and re pot them in new soil. Please let me know your thoughts and if there is something you’d like to do to help with my situation.

This mold is nothing to worry about, you can lightly mix it into the soil and it will go away. When applying our liquid fertilizer it is important to water in well after applying. You can of course water anytime within the 24 hours after applying the fertilizer, but allowing the water to mix it into the soil is important. If even after watering, this happens, it is not harmful and could be mixed into the soil.

Question: the instructions for how much Fruit Tree Fertilizer to add assumes the trees are in the ground. I have a plum tree – trunk diameter 5″ in a container. According to your instructions I should add 5 cups. Seems rather excessive. How much should I add, and how often?
Micki K
If measuring in a straight line passing from side to side through the center of a trunk and if that distance is 5″, then this measurement would be correct. You could cut this application in half if you would like. Just monitor the trees health about 30 days from now and see how it is reacting. It may require another feeding. Scratch this fertilizer into the top inch or two of soil and water very well.
Alissa
I am looking to grow a hydroponic garden, but am looking for a safe organic fertilizer. I was just wondering if your fertilizers can be used for hydroponics or are the just for soil?
Alissa
You could use our fertilizer in a hydroponics system, if you first make a tea out of it. You would make a tea by adding one cup of dry fertilizer per gallon of water.
Alexandra
Is the vegetarian potting soil also vegan?
Alexandra
Yes.
Joseph – Louisiana
What product do you recommended for banana plants. Do you need different products for the growing stage and fruit production?
Joseph – Louisiana
You can use our Home Grown Fertilizer in the beginning of the growing season and then finish the season with the Fruit Tree Fertilizer. This would be a great combo of nutrients.
Pamela – California
My husband sprayed your Rose & Flower insect Killer on our Bell Pepper plants because it’s all we had for aphids. Can we eat the bell peppers now?
Pamela – California
You can eat them immediately after spraying. Just like anything you bring inside, we do recommend you rinse them off but they are safe too consume.
Megan
Hello, I bought Dr. Earth lawn fertilizer last year and forgot to use it. Does it expire? There is a sticker on the bottom that says 6/2/18. Just wondering if it would still be beneficial to use on my lawn.
Megan
No, our liquid fertilizers do not expire. They are fine to use many years after purchase. Please be sure to shake this product very well, then shake again to be sure it is mixed up properly inside of the bottle.
Richard – New Jersey
Is Dr. Earth Final Stop Fungicide safe for Hemlock evergreens?
Will it harm wildlife?
Safe for my dogs to be around after it dries?
Richard – New Jersey
Yes, you may use the Dr. Earth Fungicide on Hemlock Evergreens. Please apply in the morning or evening to avoid spraying when it is the hottest part of the day. Your pets can be present during application, or anytime after. This product is essential Oils based and safe around pets when the product is wet or dry. We do not recommend allowing them to drink it obviously but its non-toxic.
Michelle – California
Can I spray Dr. Earth Final Stop Vegetable Garden Insect Killer directly on my plants?
Michelle – California
You can definitely spray your plants directly, even on the day of harvest. There is nothing toxic about our sprays but lightly rinse them off before consuming, as the oils may have a slightly bitter taste on the surface of your vegetables.
Matt
I have used your lawn fertilizer for years. Typically I could order it through Amazon or Home Depot. Now I can’t find it anywhere! Could you tell me if this will be available again or if we can by directly from you?
Matt
Our lawn fertilizer is being redeveloped and should release early fall. We are very excited about this new product and should be even better than the previous formulation.
James – Florida
I am growing a cantaloupe from a seed in a large pot. the vine is about 4 feet long. I want to know what fertilizer is best to use as it is growing and what/when to transition to a flowering/fruiting fertilizer.
James – Florida
I would recommend using the Bud & Bloom Booster Fertilizer about 6 – 8 weeks before harvest. It might be too late depending on when you planted them. They typically are ready for harvest within 90-100 days (give or take depending on species). My recommendation for planting would be to Fertilize with Dr. Earth Fruit Tree Fertilizer 5-5-2 at time of planting (unless starting from seeds, then fertilizer in 2-3 weeks). Then about 8 weeks later transition to Dr. Earth Bud & Bloom Booster 3-9-4.
Thomas – California
What is your best product to control bugs in St. Augustine grass?
Thomas – California
I would use our Dr. Earth Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer Spray. This is a great all around insect killer spray. I would recommend using it once every other day until you have applied 3 times. Organic insect killers tend to take a little more to kill, but pets and people can go out immediately after application.
Kathy – Illinois
I would like to apply mulch beneath trees after spraying the weed and grass killer. Other than allowing the spray to dry, is it okay to mulch immediately?
Kathy – Illinois
You can definitely put down mulch when ever you would like after applying our weed killer. There would not be any issues with that at all.
Anne – Texas
I may have missed this on the package but is Acid Lovers fertilizer appropriate for geraniums and Boston ferns? I had bottom end-rot on my tomatoes this spring and your tomato treatment cured it beautifully! Now, I have a sickly potted year-old geranium that needs a Dr. Earth miracle!!
Anne – Texas
You can definitely use our Acid Lovers Fertilizer for Geraniums and Boston Ferns. You can apply about 1/8 of a cup per plant, and do you best to work it into the soil and water it in.
Johann – Alabama
We just started using your Pure Gold fertilizer and I can’t keep my dogs away from the plants. Is it safe if they ingest?
Johann – Alabama
There is nothing toxic in our fertilizer. With that said, we recommend that you do not let your pets get into the product or the soil with the product in it. It can cause an upset stomach simply because their bodies do not know how to digest it.
Susan – Florida
Does your organic pump and grow fertilizer and plant food for tomatoes, vegetables, and herbs expire? What is the date on the bottom of the bottle mean?
Susan – Florida
Our liquid fertilizers do not expire. The date on the bottom of the bottle is the date the product was bottled at our facility.
O – California
I am a medical patient and I’m looking to use the all purpose amendment and the flower girl for my medicine. I would like to know what would be the recommended dosage?
O – California
Those are two great fertilizer options for Medical Cannabis. The amount to use would depend on the setting you are growing in. The best rule of thumb with our product is about a 1 cup per 5 gallons of soil, You could use as much as a quarter cup per gallon of soil if you chose to. Our fertilizer does not burn plants like some other options might, so you won’t have to worry about that.
Marie
How much compost starter should I sprinkle on the kitchen scraps I just put in the composter?
Marie
use 1 cup per 5 gallons of materials
Melody – Massachusetts
Is your disease control fungicide harmful to insects?
Melody – Massachusetts
It could harm insects is they are sprayed directly. If you have beneficial insects present at the time of spraying, I would wait until they are less active in that area.
Jeff – Oregon
I have earwigs and pillbugs that I’d like to get rid of, so bought Dr Earth Final Stop Yard and Garden Insect Killer. But I also have earthworms in my raised bed, which I don’t want to kill off. Is this product safe for that?
Jeff – Oregon
If you do a soil drench (mix the solution with water and pour it around your plants) this could have a negative effect on earthworms. It does require complete saturation to kill insects and earthworms are extremely resilient so it would take some aggressive application to kill them. It may deter them from the area for a small period of time. In summary, I would personally do a light soil drench, and take care of the negative pests, and give the earthworms about a week to come back to that area again.
Chris – South Carolina
When using a top dress method, what do you recommend the water PH to be for the soil and for coco?
Chris – South Carolina
As long as you on monitoring and correcting your soil pH. I don’t know that I would focus on water pH. You would probably want your pH to be between 5.5 and 6.5 depending on which part of the growth phase you are in.
Daniel – Mississippi
Does any particular one of your products have a complete set of macro and micro nutrients?
Daniel – Mississippi
While we do not claim any Micro Nutrients or all of the Macro Nutrients on our packaging they are present in each one of our blends. They can vary depending on each lot of product and for that reason we do not claim them.
Scott – Oregon
I want to use the Dr Earth Liquid Lawn Fertilizer with my own hose end spray attachment.

Scott – Oregon
You can use 2 ounces of fertilizer per gallon of water to get the correct dilution.
Holly – Massachusetts
I purchased Dr Earth Vegetable Garden Insect Killer Concentrate, but now that I need it, my hose has died and I can’t afford to buy another one. I would like to be able to use the Concentrate as RTU by mixing it in a bottle with some water. The bottle I would like to use is 32 ounces. How much concentrate would I need to add to make a ready-to-use mixture?
Holly – Massachusetts
You can use 2 ounces of fertilizer per gallon of water.
Lisa – Ohio
Can I use your Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer on my petunias?
Lisa – Ohio
Yes, you can use the insect killer spray on your petunias, please only apply in the cooler parts of the day, either the morning or evening. This will reduce the likely hood of burning.
Kevin – New York
Will Dr. Earth Final Stop Vegetable Garden organic insect killer work on Japanese beetles?
Kevin – New York
You can kill Japanese Beatles with our insect killer spray, but you must apply it heavily to them and you will only kill those that you spray directly.
Lana – Chicago
Wondering how long your liquid concentrate all purpose fertilizer lasts? I’ve had this for about a year.
Lana – Chicago
It is fine and last up to 5 years without any issues. Apply it in great health and thank you for your support.
Jon
I’m trying to use your pump and grow tomato vegetable & herb fertilizer in a little hydroponic aero garden and keep over fertilizing. Do you have any suggested amounts? It holds about 2 gallons of water.
Jon
I would use 8 pumps per 2 gallons of water and feed and water as you normally do.
Pearl – Washington
Wondering how long your liquid concentrate all purpose fertilizer lasts? I’ve had this for about a year.
Pearl – Washington
It is fine and last up to 5 years without any issues. Apply it in great health and thank you for your support.
Judy – California
In researching the best formula for guava trees, I’ve read that a 6-6-6 fertilizer is most ideal for it to yield fruit, but have noticed that the combination doesn’t seem very common, even at Home Depot. May I ask which would be the best substitution?
Judy – California
I would recommend our Premium Gold all purpose fertilizer 4-4-4 as it is the closest to the 6-6-6 you are looking for.
Sue – Washington
I understand gardenia need acid and I also have hibiscus and angel trumpets. All are in pots. What would you suggest?
Sue – Washington
I would simply use our “Acid Lovers” fertilizer and soil if you can find it locally.
Bill
I had purchased the Final Stop® Disease Control Fungicide the bottle tells me 2-oz per gallon of water but doesn’t tell me how often? Is there any recommended application i should go by?
Bill
The best effects will result in a dosage every three weeks, if you get an infestation, you can spray once every three days,..Do not spray in direct sun,.. only spray early in the morning, or late in the afternoon for best results.
Jen – Utah
I have a yard full of healthy wild birds, bees, butterflies, earthworms, etc. Will Dr Earth lawn fertilizer hurt any of them? Is your product safe to use around them?
Jen – Utah
Our lawn fertilizer is completely safe to use around all life in the garden and will not harm them in any way.
T.J. – Pennsylvania
What is the best product for preventing squash bugs?
T.J. – Pennsylvania
There is not an organic way to to stop them, you would need a chemical systemic. The best method is to keep the soil very healthy so the plant can defend itself naturally with thick cell walls and protect itself. If you do get an infestation in the future. We make an all purpose insect killer called “Final Stop Yard and Garden Insect Killer”
Phyllis
I ordered the Dr. Earth Final Stop Yard & Garden Insect Killer, not realizing it was a hose end sprayer. I would like to use the contents as a concentrate and mix it with water so I can use it in a spray bottle. Could you give me the ratio of Dr. Earth to water for this means of application?
Phyllis
Please use 4 ounces per gallon of water. Please make sure you reseal the bottle so it does not leak and children do not have access to it.
Jeannie – Nevada
I just bought some liquid fertilizer for my fruit trees and I’m a little confused. Do I spray this on the leaves and blossoms or on the ground underneath?
Jeannie – Nevada
Spray it on the ground at the base of the tree and water it in a little afterwards to drive it down into the soil.
Sue – Oregon
I have several trays of little seedlings that are now about 2″ high and I believe it’s time to start feeding them before transplanting. Which of your liquid formulas should I use and how often should I apply it? I’m already using your house plant food – would that work?
Sue – Oregon
The houseplant food will work great. Use 2 ounces per gallon of water, then use the water to feed the young plants, but do not feed the plants until the seeds have actually sprouted and have their first set of leaves.
Thad – Washington
I heard your new formula for ‘Life’ should be available by mid April. Where can I find it?
Thad – Washington
I am sorry to say that Life was a 2020 release and will not be available for at least 6 more months. Packaging design and registrations are still in the works, but there are a lot of hot deals on the old life formula on Amazon.
Ian – Pennsylvania
I just used the organic pump and grow fertilizer on my plants and after a couple days there’s mold growing at the base where I applied on all my plants?
Ian – Pennsylvania
I suspect you are growing indoors as this is usually when mold shows up due to organics and moisture combined, but no worries, its common to see this and it is harmless, allow the soil to dry out for a couple of day and it should disappear naturally, for future reference, moisture and shade, will always cause mold in any growing environment. Try to give them some direct sun if possible. If not, keep an eye on the dampness of the soil, less damp, means less mold, think of a home and the basement! Same metaphor!
Jean – New Jersey
I used your weed spray product on weeds within my pavers. Now there appears to be oily spots where I sprayed. How do I get rid of those spots?
Jean – New Jersey
If the bricks have never been water sealed any oil can and will leave a glossy stain for a while, but they always go away with time, from sun and water. If you do not want to wait, simply use some dish-washing detergent and a dish brush with water and it will clean it up.Remember these oils are simply essential oils that are cosmetic grade, really safe.

Landon M. – Oregon

Emily N. – Iowa
Do you use any chicken manure in your products?
Emily N. – Iowa
We do not use chicken manure in any of our products because we have found that Fish Bone Meal is a higher quality ingredient that provides a longer lasting source of Nitrogen as well as an abundance of other nutrients.
Steve P. – California
If I spray weeds in my lawn with your weed and grass killer spray, will I also kill my grass?
Steve P. – California
Yes, our weed killer is non-selective. This means, any foliage, grass or weed that is sprayed will be burned and will die.
Julie K. – Wisconsin
I used to get your soils at Home Depot, I can not find them there anymore. Help, I love and need your soil!
Julie K. – Wisconsin
I appreciate your passion and I am sorry to hear you are unable to find our soil. You should check with your local garden center for our soil. If they do not have it stocked, they might be able to order it for you.
Ryan S. – Kentucky
What is digested food materials? This ingredient is listed on your liquid fertilizers.
Ryan S. – Kentucky
Digested food materials is a general way to saying produce that is recycled instead of put into our dumps. Many grocery stores have to throw out fruits, fish & vegetables that are not in perfect condition. That is where we come in, we recycle this produce and turn it into a compost tea, now known as our liquid fertilizers.
